Nice product that has growth potential
My first grader and I have been playing Mental Blox for a few days now. It comes in a cute carrying case that conveniently holds the instruction manual, which includes lots of different games you can play. My daughter’s current favorite is Memory Match. I don’t think it will take long for her to memorize which patterns go with which blocks, though (which is probably why it’s a favorite of hers!) I have been trying to play one of the single player games, Slide and Solve. It’s not easy! My daughter is not currently interested in the single player games. I’m hoping that changes soon though, because that was part of the appeal for me. Overall, I think this is a great, versatile game that has a lot of potential to grow with the kids.

Great brain-boosting games for kids and adults
Mental Blox Go is wonderful because it provides many different games and puzzles that really exercise your brain. It includes games like memory, sudoku, chess, and several other games that require you to use logic when moving pieces specific ways to complete the puzzle/game. We like the variety of puzzles/games and that some are intended for single player, two players, or 3+. My husband and I played with our 7 and 5-year-old children and enjoyed most of the games. There were some games we liked more than others. Our toddler even used it for stacking the blocks, which isn't the main purpose of the game, but we are glad he found some purpose in it too. I like that it is portable and easy to store away as well.

Great STEM Toy!!
I love this set, especially for my 1st grader. It has a puzzle book with different games in it that can be played with 1 or 2 players. I like that it has a 1 player part that he can occupy himself playing it. But also that it has some games that are for 2 players. This is something his older brother can play with him as well and be challenged. I wish it came with more puzzle cards for him, as I can see him blowing through all the ones that come with it from playing it so much. This is a great toy too for Stem education.

My son loves it
This product is great for travel. My kids like to build what is shown in the booklet. They also like to build their own designs. It is fun to watch them master the designs. The block are small due to it being a travel game. The lid makes a great place to build the designs.

Meh
We love this brand and have the original Mental Blox. This may be good for a restaurant but it has lots of small pieces so it is not good for car rides. The games aren't as fun as the original. I have found ways to adapt the original version so my daughter can play however there is not many ways she can play this version (besides memory which we can do with a deck of cards). It does give ideas on games to play but it isn't as good as the original.

Great portable fun!
This has been a fun little product that we have just scratched the surface with. My boys love playing memory and we can't wait to try out the endless other games available. This is perfect for on the go. I can see us using this at restaurants and on airplanes. The biggest plus is no batteries required! A great product for growing little minds.

Helping Hand
Of course when I got this to review I did a search and naturally there came up various promos showing thoroughly engaged children without a tantrum in sight. Hmmm. Well the reality is that this is 'game' that is part of the learning process and as such should be included in activities along with other things. I found that my four year old grandchildren (twins) were happy to play along with this for about five minutes before the allure of the outdoors became too strong. Then after some play time they would return and delve back in. The idea is simple. Help children to grow mental abilities by matching shapes and colours in such a way that they have to either match a patern or do it from memory. Its a good idea to be honest and I do think it helps. What I found is that with twins the way to engage is to make it a competition. My twin grandchildren are a boy and girl and by and large they play together well and are rarely far apart. However, despite the fact that they both use the same toys - and not a doll in sight - there are differences. Without a doubt the boy is more driven to win and if he does not he gets really upset. My granddaughter meanwhile breezes through and overall isn't overly bothered about being in front. With this game they are about the same level so there is an element of challenge and that keeps them a bit more interested than otherwise. Overall this is a good 'toy' and one that should along with others be introduced whilst the TV is firmly shut down. It will - along with many other things - help them develop their memory and patience. Overall a better long term gift than some plastic TV based junk.

Educational and fun for younger children.
Mental Blox isn't one thing, or rather it doesn't just have one way to play with it. The supplied book has ten games and puzzles to choose from. None of the puzzles are too hard for children 5+, however they were a tad simple for my eight-year-old boy, who lost interest in some the games fairly quickly. However, the challenge in those games for more than one player, depends on the abilities of either. Most games have a fair amount of replay value, though some, like Shapes Sudoku or Slide and Solve have given puzzles to solve, so once they've been solved, that's them done (unless you have someone clever enough to come up with new ones). The last game in the book is one that has the potential for whiling away lots of time, it is a simple variant of chess with four pieces each, has the potential to appeal to older children and was the game that my son found the most challenging. None of the instructions are overly complex but you might well need to have an adult go through them first, particularly for younger children. Once they've 'got' the rules, though, each game or puzzle is fairly easy to remember. The board and pieces have a chunky tactile quality, with bright colours and attractive patterns. These aren't just appealing to younger people but are lso used extensively in all of the games. The board comes in a case and is fairly compact so it has the ability to be transported easily, making it good for journeys with children. I think, that with an attentive grown up, there is a lot of potential for developing a child's abilities. I would say that, without encouragment, few children would choose this over an app and I've made the mistake of demanding the tablet be turned off in favour of this. However, introduced carefully, you can get some quality time with the kids.
