Replaced the 7202 Model
I don’t now what I’m talking about and I’m going to use the wrong words. But I have a Honeywell control module WV4460E2014 on my water heater. The vapor sensor I was trying to replace was labeled, “7202 12276A T-0-D 25VS.” This Amazon listing looked exactly the same and I saw that the photo read “7203” instead of “7202.” I figured it would probably work and I was right! It did. Just wanted to post here in case anyone else with a 7202 is wondering.

Amazon to the rescue. Hot water has been restored.
Let me start by saying "IT WORKED"!! This is important because at 11pm on a Thursday (before Memorial Day no less) my daughter discovered the hot water heater had quit working the hard way. She had to rinse off in ice cold tap water. I diagnosed the problem and had the part on order through Amazon by midnight for expedited delivery on Saturday. Friday, with no hot water was not great for the whole family. Saturday, the part arrived, I installed it and viola! Hot Water. My Richmond water heater, only about 3 years old, was indicating a FVS Lockout on the Honeywell Controller. FVS is the Flammable Vapor Sensor, something common to pilotless models to make sure there are no leaks before igniting. That is a good thing when it functions right. Its also a good thing when it fails that it prevents operation. Well, except for the cold showers, its a good thing. This set comes with the housing around the actual sensor. Why, because you can remove the old housing from the water heater itself, but the way the FVS installs in the housing you would destroy the housing removing the defective FVS. So the housing is there for a reason. The same thing for the tie wrap. You'll need to remove your wiring harness from the control unit, then carefully use pliers to pull the wire connectors from the defective FVS. I installed the harness first because I wanted to be careful to connect to the right terminals. I don't know that it matters, but I did not want to take a chance (two days without hot water if you recall). I carefully feed the harness through the housing and easily snapped the FVS in place. The chamfer on the edge of the FVS should allow easy insertion, but the blade (terminal) side goes into the housing FIRST. The part numbers were not an exact match, but cross checking indicated this to be a new replacement for my defective one. Hopefully the part number difference indicates a new and improved part. These things seem to have reliability issues. I guess over three years to savings in natural gas was worth it. Finally, I checked Amazon for this part in desperation. No one locally had it in stock. I could order the it might arrive the Tuesday or Wednesday after Memorial Day, leaving us without hot water for nearly a week. Thankfully Amazon exists and has priority shipping. No matter what a certain world "leader" thinks, Amazon exists due to this extreme level of customer service. If brick-and-mortar stores would actually take customer needs and service seriously, they would not have these problems. I prefer to buy local when I can. No hot water makes expedient service all the more important.

Fixed the Problem
I worried when I ordered this that it wouldn't be an exact replacement since my original one had "25V" stamped on the back but the online description of this item says nothing. I decided to take a chance since the picture looked exactly the same. When it arrived I found that the "25V" is stamped on the back of the sensor even though it isn't mentioned in the description. It's a simple matter to replace the old one: disconnect the water heater from any electrical connections and remove the metal panel shielding the burner assembly and reach inside, pushing outward on the plastic housing that surrounds the sensor so that it comes out of the hole in the water heater body near the floor. When the sensor is outside of the heater, remove the two connectors from the terminals on the old one and replace on the terminals of the new one, then reinsert. The control will probably have to be reset before the new one will work. On mine, the reset process involved turning the thermostat dial up and down from low to high and back about 9 times after reconnecting the water heater to electricity; the reset method might vary depending on the brand of control. These sensors work by changing their resistance when exposed to flammable vapors and other substances like cleaners used near the sensor. When the resistance goes out of the designated range, the control senses this and won't let the water heater fire up. When the sensor is replaced with a new one, the resistance is once again in the correct range and the water heater will fire up. My water heater (a Richmond made by Rheem) requires a resistance of between 15K and 40K ohms. I checked the "blown" sensor before ordering and its resistance was about 100K ohms, well out of the range. The new one was about 22K. ONE IMPORTANT CAUTION: There are references here from other purchasers to temporary solutions to get the water heater going until a new part can be obtained that involve clipping the connectors to either side of a cereal bowl full of water (which would have about 30K of resistance) or actually placing a resistor between the connectors to mimic the operation of the sensor. Both of these should actually work but, if the real reason that the old sensor failed was the presence of flammable vapors, the act of getting the water heater working again could obviously be disastrous. The same thing applies to replacing a bad sensor with a good one. The water heater should not be fired up again unless it is absolutely certain that there are no flammable vapors in the area.

Saved me a lot of money
Works perfect. Saved me a ton of moment vs a plumber. Just be careful not to pull the battery clip off the terminal when disconnecting the old one. Lesson learned the hard way.

Cheap & easy to install
This is the right part to replace if the warning Light flashes 07 times in a row & then takes a pause. It's cheaper to buy on Amazon than in the local plumbing store & very easy to install.
