Not really a bell
I'd presumed that this was actually a bell whereas it is just a bell-shaped music box, which plays a short bit of "We Wish You a Merry Christmas". There's nothing in the description to suggest that it isn't a bell and well, it looks like a bell. I have nothing in particular against music boxes but it's more of a novelty thing -- other than children, how many people repeatedly wind-up music boxes? Putting a music box in a Christmas ornament (presuming that it was intended as a tree ornament) raises a couple issues. It, presumably, makes it a lot heavier and a metal bell this size would already be pushing the limit for attaching to a Christmas tree branch of anything but a very large tree. And, since the tune is so short, who is going to be winding it up while it is hanging on the tree? A bell hanging on a tree could give a little jingle anytime someone brushed by its branches, but this requires not only that someone knows it is a music box and that they are willing to wind it up for a short tune. It sort of seems like a feature no one was asking for. Alternatively, it comes with a nice velvet storage sack which, as in my pictures, could double as place to display the ornament. When guests come over one could set it on a table, say near the Christmas cookies and other snacks with a little card suggesting that they wind it for a little Christmas music. It is a very beautiful silverplate ornament and seems very solid, but I lowered my rating because of the inadequate description.

Beautiful but limited musically
This ornament has a beautiful mirror chrome finish. It's all metal and quite heavy which suggests good quality. The weight may be too much for flimsy tree branches though. It's not a bell but rather a manual-turn spring-powered musical box. I like that you don't need batteries for it. The volume level is pretty quiet which is good because you can easily hear it within a few feet but it's not going to intrude on anybody beyond that. The song is "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" but unfortunately it only plays a couple lines on repeat so it gets repetitive. It would have been much nicer if it could play a much longer portion of the song.

Pretty
This silver bell ornament from Reed & Barton is really pretty and shiny. It has a red ribbon to hang it. It's actually not a real bell, it's a music box. It plays "We Wish You a Merry Christmas." The sound is very soft, and you have to be right next to it to hear it. This might bother some people, but I'm ok with it. It could be louder, but not a big drawback. It's very pretty, with a little snowman on top.

Music bell player not an actually bell
Reed and Barton has been around and my mother collected the bells each Christmas. However, I was surprised to find that this is a music "box" and not a bell. I did not see that in description. And looked again before writing review and did not see mention of it being musical. It is solidly made. But one other draw back - the sound is not very loud at all. I know that these things can be annoying loud sometimes, but this was very difficult to hear (I am not deaf yet) over conversational noise. It would not provide much background music and if you hung it in a tree to play would need to be very close to tree to hear. Delivery was fast, boxed very well. If you are looking for a quite Christmas themed ornament for tree or display this would be it for you.

Winding-music playing ornament
The media could not be loaded. It's a gorgeous ornament and I can't wait until we get a new tree this year to put it on. I agree with the other reviewer that it didn't say anywhere that this is a music-box type ornament. I assumed it would be a regular bell. So that could potentially be an issue depending on what one is expecting/wanting. It plays the tune "We Wish You A Merry Christmas". I actually love that it plays music and it sounds really pretty. I just wish the sound was a little louder- I feel it's a little quiet. Other than that, it's great quality (a bit heavy) and makes for a really special gift. Comes well packaged and with a pretty storage bag and sturdy box.

Bell ornament with a built in music box.
This adorable bell shaped ornament is also a music box. I love that the inside of this plays a song instead of being just a simple bell! The music it plays is soft and the bell is dainty and beautiful. The finish is stunning and it looks great on the Christmas tree. Very pretty!

Music-box ornament
This Reed and Barton Noel Bell Ornament, 0.51, Metallic is a pretty silver-plated ornament. It is shaped like a bell with a snowman hanging a wreath on the top and the word "Noel" on the side. It is also a small music box and plays the chorus of "We Wish You A Merry Christmas." The music box aspect makes this ornament stand out from the other bells I own. It is heavier, so will work better on an ornament stand than a tree branch. I think this is a very beautiful ornament.

Musical display piece
I didn't realize when I selected this that it was musical (We wish you a merry Christmas) so that was a nice surprise. I intended to use it on the tree (as you would an ornament) but it's heavy to the point that I don't know if it would stay on the branches. It's very pretty and comes nicely presented and includes a little velvet red bag for it.
