My Favorite, thus far, of the Echoes series
Of the 4 available, I like this one the best. It had the most interesting story IMHO.

fun evening
we have now played 3 of these games for family game nights. It's sometimes hard to find a game that two teenagers and two 40 somethings agree on, but because these include a little tech (using the phone app) and some mystery solving skills, we all like them. It can't be replayed, but for $10, you get an hour or two of fun and working together to order the clues and solve the mystery. We just pass them on to other families when we're done.

An excellent addition to fun collaborative gaming!
I'm a regular player of collaborative games like the Exit series and Finders Keepers. This was the second Echoes game I've played and it was every bit as fun as the first one. Using audio clues adds a whole different dimension to the process, and I think it makes it even more inclusive for people who aren't hard-core gamers to enjoy. I played with a group from work as a team-building exercise, and it took just over an hour to complete. Some of the players were experienced gamers, some not, and the game worked well for all of them.

AWESOMENESS!
I purchased both "The Dancer" and "The Cocktail." I'm an escape room enthusiast and let me tell you that this did not disappoint - being an audio mystery. Was planning to play 1 by myself and then the 2nd with the family, but... I played both of them alone in 2 consecutive evenings, because I just felt the NEED. Lol! I was so engrossed in piecing together the clues that I hadn't realized the time... (thought I'd spent about 1/2 hr) it took me well over 1.5 hrs, but it was without hints and sooooo worth it! -- I advise to play it without splitting the item cards in the beginning, use ALL, trust me, take the challenge! You'll regret how easy it is if you don't. You'd want your money's worth. And, boy, was it worth it! I really enjoyed this new audio twist on mystery games. You will find yourself listening to the whole story at the end. ...AND... Wanting MORE!!! I loved it! Also like how you can just shuffle the cards for repacking and forwarding to friends and family. The price is right, too at just $10. I can't wait to get my hands on the next two in the series (The Microchip & The Cursed Ring). To the devs: How do you come up with these ideas? This is so clever! Please keep them coming!! (I'll keep buying!! ????) Note: Disregard the negative reviews of the companion app as the devs updated it and it scans the cards very well. Also, the app records finished games' complete stories.

Great audio, fun mystery solving.
Finally! A mystery game that is fun and playable with a larger group. We loved the audio of The Dancer and felt it was the perfect length of play. This is not your typical escape room style board game. You are sequencing events of a mystery to solve it. There are no real puzzles as you would find in other tabletop escape games but getting the story sequence correct is fun and engaging. They divide up the cards so they are manageable to parse down for sequence which is appreciated. I gave four instead of five stars because a few sequences didn't feel like we could definitively solve them - there was a little guess work but it was fine, not frustrating. This is a game that I will pass on to friends. Many mass market tabletop escape games end up recycled because they were so frustrating that I would never subject my friends to it. Happy to have a game to share and can't wait for the next!

A nice, unique spin to the genre, in a relatively short time
It's rare, even now, that a boardgame uses "unique" senses, and this series works really well. Even if you can easily understand the final punchline relatively early, putting it all together is still a challenge - but a very doable one. You never feel helpless here. Every little bit could be important, and writing stuff down is highly advisable. I also want to thank Ravensberger that, for all that this game has a major gimic (in form of the scanning), they still made sure to not make it mandatory, so that if a device happens not to support it (like mine turned out) the game is still playable. Could this have been an app only? Yes. Does it make it less of a good game? No. Hope the rest of you enjoy it too.

Very fun - can only play once
These are very fun!! My fiance and I have now played all 3 - The Dancer, The Cocktail, and The Microchip. I've never played anything like it. It's so fun to scan the cards, listen, and put them in order!! The Microchip has the best story. And it's way more fun if you don't follow the instructions and don't take out the 9 cards with the symbol. If you have all the cards laid out on the table to start it's much harder. We even took notes and had theories! If you set aside 9 cards until later, it becomes a process of elimination since you know the other 9 cards are the other 3 chapters. And it's not as fun. Pros: good voice acting Good stories Very unique games Cons: Can only play once Not as much fun if you follow the instructions and take out 9 cards (we played The Dancer that way and it was too easy. Playing The Cocktail and The Microchip with all the cards from the beginning on the table was much much more fun).

These are great games for 4-6 players, give your brain a bit of exercise but not over taxing, the app is quite easy to use.
