Good, but not like the first ones made in the Eighties!!
Back in the 80's when I first started Turkey hunting, this was the number one call on the market (my opinion). Many keen gobblers bit the dust due to this call. But then, somewhere the call manufacturers starting to change the rubber/latex to a different material. Every since that happened, I could no longer get the same pitch consistency with these calls after the call was in my mouth for awhile. I still use one I saved for over 20 years. I keep it clean, out of the sunlight, and dry. I store it in the freezer. When this call finally wears out, I will quit turkey hunting unless another company can mock this caller. Those who read this, know what I am speaking about. The good ole calls, would stay clear when using. The newer ones, turn milky and loosen up when in your mouth for a couple of hours. If you have one that stays clear, better keep it because I haven't able to find any like this. I wrote to Kirby about this years ago and never got any response. So, bottom line. If you use this, keep the reeds separate with a toothpick and only use it when you are actually ready to bring in that ole' Tom.

Great beginning call to learn with
Very easy to use and a great starter call. I'm new to turkey hunting and learning to use a mouth call has been challenging. Someone recommended a beginning call like this and they were right. This made learning the different calls much easier is it molds easily into my mouth and blowing air across the reeds is very simple. After a couple of weeks of use I graduated to a more challenging call. Only potential detractor is the tape gets soft in my mouth quite quickly. That doesn't seem to affect the call and this is my personal preference as I'm certain some folks like a call that molds to the palate of their mouth as easily as this one. I've found I prefer one with thicker tape but that also means a call more difficult to use. Again, a fabulous beginning call to learn with.

I have been using the 'Old Boss Hen' mouth call ...
I have been using the 'Old Boss Hen' mouth call for more than 20 years. It produces the most authentic yelps, clucks, and cutting sounds of all the mouth calls I have ever tried. Just today I took my second Connecticut gobbler of the season using the Old boss Hen. I called in three Toms this morning and took the largest one (who came within ten yards from me) . I have taken Gobblers every year since 1984--all them using the "Old Boss Hen". No question it's the only call you need for spring Turkey hunting,.
