Greta grill - exactly what I was looking for.

I was looking for a grill for my boat. Needed something sturdy and easy to clean it. Bought this grille and very happy with it - grilled about a dozen of times and it exceeded my expectations: - Very sturdy (no plastic stuff or cheap materials) - Cook great (tried chicken, beef, salmon and veggies) - great temp control and coverage - Easy to clean and re-assemble (thank you!) - that was important as my boat space is limited. - I bought leg stand for it and can now take it anywhere (not just a boat) and I sometimes grill at home - Good price Cons: can't think of any. As the saying goes - you get what you pay for (in most cases) and this is def the one. Don't cheap out on other non-quality brands - go with this....

A bit awkward...

I've wanted one for years and I finally got one. Be sure and buy the correct rail mount, there are several options for different diameter stanchions and pulpits. Once it is secure it is time to light her up and cook some burgers! Then it starts getting awkward. There is no electric lighter so you need to use a long nosed butane lighter, or a long stem match. Good luck keeping a match lit. So, back to the butane lighter... which won't fit through the grill. That was a bummer. Ok, you have to light it before putting the grill back in place. It turns and locks into position, which needs to be done pretty quickly once it is lit! Ouch. Back to lighting it for a moment... You can't see the burner with the radiant plate in place so that has to come out of the way too. Finally lit... replace the radiant plate quickly/carefully... then the grill... now you are finally good to go. On the plus side, it looks cool hanging off the stern of our sailboat!

We love it

I bought this for my partner and I have to say. Although it doesn’t bring the rackets, it’s very nice and sturdy. I like that it’s stainless steel and easy to clean. I will share this on my YouTube channel.

Awesome boat grill!

This boat grill is awesome! We cooked burgers and hotdogs in no time out on the lake with no problem. The grill heated up evenly, and no issue getting to temperature. Food cooked wonderfully! It was super easy to mount and was extremely sturdy. We used the rail mounting kit recommended for it. The lid is also stays on nice and tight. This grill will be perfect for so many boating adventures! It will also store nicely in the boat, not taking up too much room. I will be getting the storage bag for it at some point. I highly recommend this grill!

New Design is sturdy but less convenient

This is my second Magma Grill for use on sailboats. My first lasted many years. When I tired of the need to carry and light actual briquettes and put up with the mess afterward, I replaced the briquettes with the ceramic ones when they became available. I later replaced the burner unit with the newer burner plate and got rid of the briquettes. When the innards rusted out, I got the newer model with the heat resistant handle, which is a major improvement. The new one seems sturdier as well. The one down side is that the cover remains attached to the bottom bowl, so you cannot easily place the open cover in a way to block the wind with each use. The cover and grill rack must be mechanically removed from the bowl and reattached in a new fixed position to change the open cover position relative to current wind direction. So the grill is less effective in wind without a hassle.

Wish I had bought one years ago!

So I have been watching these grills for a long time and finally decided to pull the trigger this year. It is so nice to be able to grill while out trolling for salmon or waiting for crab pots to soak. I cooked everything from hot dogs to steaks out there this year with great results. Grill cooled mode quickly than I thought and clean up was easy at the end of the day.

I love to use my grill out on the water, quality is great, design is great , los base everything is great , only downside which magma should work on a bit better, is the burner performance, if it’s just a bit windy , which there’s always some wind on the sandbars, then it doesn’t perform as near as good, as it should under no wind conditions, I believe it can be improved. High quality materials , which don’t come for cheap price, hope Magma takes it to another level (gas grill) Very happy overall still manage to get my bbq in place for great cookouts

The mounting bracket on this unit is very poorly designed. Very frustrating to try and tighten onto the Scotty mount. When you try to tighten it the mounting bracket wants to turn. I see online there is a much better designed bracket available for the Magma kettle 2.

Awesome Wind Proof BBQ

Love the bbq, couldn't be better. Used on the water on a windy day on the lowest setting and the flame didn't go out. I was very surprised, and I couldn't be more positive with the wind proof ability.

This BBQ is awesome. Easy to light and stays lit even in strong winds heats fast, and easy to clean. It doesn't have a huge cooking surface but perfect for my family of four.
