Durability issues
This is the first PowerBait product that hasn’t held up well for me. The first cast, the honey worm flys off the hook so I figured I must have torn it while hooking it I put another on my hook and cast again and loose another honey worm. I re-bait and then give a soft side arm cast and was able to keep the honey worm on the hook. After soaking my bait for about 30min without a bite I reel in and the honey worm has began to bloat changing its shape. On another trip after finding a spot where the trout were biting I figured I’d give these a try again. I made sure to give a soft cast and low and behold I hook up nearly immediately, after landing the fish I take a look and the honey worm is completely tore up. Summary of my experience with the PowerBait honey worm, if you can get it out and in front of fish it will catch, but it is not very durable. Not worth it for me.

It catches fish. Nothing else you need to know, really.
These catch fish. Put'm on a size 8 or 10 aberdeen and the fish will be lining up to bite. You don't have to worry about the little jar leaking like you do with some of the minnow baits (which also work!), so that's a plus.

It catches fish like it was designed to.
I've never fished with live honey worms/maggots, but I have fished with this. First cast I made, I caught a huge rock bass. Second cast, I kid you not, I landed a 12" muskie on the same powerbait. Amazingly, the hook, bait, and line all survived. I managed a total of five fish on that single piece of bait before I lost the hook to a snag. No, I don't have a picture of the muskie -- I was fishing by myself and the minimum size for muskies is 40" this year, so I was more interested in getting it back in the water than I was in getting proof. I've used several in a few locations, and if anything's going to catch fish at a location, this seems to. I've landed rock bass, that muskie (okay, it was probably a fluke -- but it happened), largemouth bass, and have to admit I'm totally sold on this product. It catches fish, and I've yet to have a fish gut-hook itself on this bait. One thing to note, these are all in one long chain (55 worms, according to the label) in the jar. That's not any real issue, though, because the bait is so soft you can just cut them apart on the jar's edge. I seem to have better luck with two of these on the hook at the same time, though, so I just cut two at once and hook away. These are a little softer than I was expecting, but that's not really a bad thing. As the designer of PowerBait said, fish it until it's falling off the hook. The more torn up it is, the tastier it is to the fish striking it. ***EDIT 7/28/2015*** Went fishing tonight and caught a good-sized rock bass immediately after, and using the exact same honey worms on the same hook as, this brute. I'm not sure, but I think it measures up at 16". Too small to keep, but a nice fish all the same. Another victory for these honey worms!

Best summer trout bait
Best summer bait for trout. Fish it with 4 feet of flurocarbon 4# leader behind a bubble float, just like a Pistol Pete. Will float on a number 10 hook, sinks slowly with larger hooks. Passive or Active. Fish hit so hard they swallow the hook 80% of the time, be ready to cut line at mouth (while fish still half in water, half on bank) if not keeping fish--fish will survive if not messed with by trying surgery to extract one lousy hook (google it, look for biologist recommendation). Hook dissolves. I have gutted dozens with hooks in them. Sometimes works in winter. Red and Yellow just as good, sometimes better. Less expensive at Sportsman's Warehouse.

They Work
These do work, all you have to do is "ring the dinner bell" by tugging your bobber every minute and trout will swallow. Had a lot of fun with these.

Almost as much action as worms, much less mess and effort.
These little guys are great for targeting all kinds of panfish, from bluegill to crappie and warmouth. They seem to be about as effective as worms if you have very active fish, though when the bit slows down on worms these do seem to be a tad less effective. Still, that's within the difference I have seen in reaction to Canadian nightcrawlers vs big red worms, so it's pretty much a wash, they're about as effective. Where they really shine is effort and mess. They're super easy to rig, aren't covered in dirt and worm guys, and they stick on the hook better than any worm. They seem to typically last 2-3x as long, and rigging is easily 4x faster. And they keep very well, no more shrivelled dead worms! Wonderful replacement for live bait. Will always keep these guys with me.

Surprisingly Effective. Well Worth a Lousy $4.
I was extremely skeptical about this stuff. Artificial worms? Yeah, okay. But this stuff works! I bought a jar and I really haven't used much else when bob fishing this summer. Every time I cast out my line I get a hit. Every time. I can't believe how effective these are. I've gone fishing with red worms exactly one time this year and while I had an almost equal amount of strikes fishing with them as I do with these Power Bait worms I prefer the Power Bait. They're cheap, they work and they last a long time. I mean just today I caught 3 sunfish at a local pond with the same honey worm from the jar. And when I was done I took it off the hook and put it back in the container. If you're fishing for pan fish or you have a younger angler with you who just wants to catch a few "smallies" then there's no reason not to pick up a jar of these and toss them in your tackle box. I've caught more fish with these than any other artificial lure I've used this year. And my 6 year old has probably caught more than me.

Best power bait I have used.
Stays on the hook well. Salt or fresh water. Good backup substitute for live bait.

Still waiting to try the product to see if it works.
I’m so so on this product. I purchased it because I seen a similar product that I tried thanks to a friend. That product was in a solution in its bottle, this bottle has no solution in it so I don’t know if it’s dried out or meant to be that way. Fishing season opens in a week and I will try it then. We shall see if it works as well as the product my friend had, which by the way is made by the same company, but not the identical product, as I couldn’t find the identical bottle label. Hopefully it does.

Panfish
Great for panfish and teaching little kids how to fish without getting them mucky and dirty with live bait. Id still reccomend washing your hands after they smell kinda weird.
