How I "Hacked" the soap dish to open easier...

So I did a little tiny "hack" to the soap dish container because DEAR LORD it was sooo difficult to open at first. Everyone who wrote that is 100% correct. You will KILL your fingers or finger nails getting this damn thing open. So here is what I did... I took a knife and lightly carved a little plastic away on the front clip that secures to the little button/knob. I basically opened up a little bit. Enough so that it would still clip but not too much that it doesn't secure the container at all. You can do the same thing with some sandpaper. Just do it a little at a time and then test it out or else you may end up wearing away the groove on the clip too much and then it will not secure closed at all. A simple little hack and the soap dish is cheap. So I think it's worth it and the little alteration took literally 5 seconds.

very strong,hard to open,good for travel..

the plastic case is very strong, and i agree with the other reviews it's not easy to open it. it has the good use when you travel, because i believe if i open and the close it daily for a few weeks, the top will be broke from the bottom case. this product has no extra hinge connected, i mean the soap case connects with the 4 skinny plastic bridges between top and bottom. the bottom inside has small holes to drain the water. actually i like it because i plan to use it for my small trips anyway, and do not have to worry that the top will open by itself, then my soap will make a mess, and i wonder how long it will last before it comes apart...

Lock does not rock.

Great rugged construction, but I think the locking mechanism is too difficult to open. Especially in the mornings when I'm 1/2 awake. I'm an overseas contractor and have to walk to the showers each day, so unlike a traveling businessman who gets to a hotel room and can unpack his soap for the duration of his stay, I must open my plastic soap dish everyday - so I cut off the locking mechanism.

Very good

It's a bit tough to open, but my complaint with anther one of these soap containers was that it was always opening on it's own in my bag so I guess this one it better, much better.

Work Well

Be aware that this soap holder has small drainage holes, so if you're traveling with this, put it in a water-proof bag if the soap is damp. Otherwise, it's great. I prefer drain holes, so the soap doesn't get soggy. The lid snaps really tight. It's never opened up in luggage or backpacks.

The price was great too.

I bought this for my son who is on a ship in Alaska. He loves it because it is so plain, and has drainage holes in the bottom. He shares a bathroom with several others, so he cannot leave the soap in the shower, and this avoids taking a wet messy bar of soap back to his bunk. The price was great too.

Good soap dish

I bought this to keep soap in my locker at the gym. It works great. It does a good job keeping the soap in the dish and not getting all over my stuff.

Impossible to open

So. Hard. To. Open. My soap is basically in a safe-deposit box in this container. I can barely get it open with dry hands, much less with wet hands in the shower. I have to use my fingernails to pry it open, that gets painful fast. Otherwise, it's a solid little container -- too solid! I think I'm going to fill it with dried beans and make it a musical instrument for my kid, 'cause it'll work a lot better when used for something I *don't* want to open!

Not much to say here. If you’re in need of a closable soap dish for travel or other purposes this will likely suit your needs nicely. I use it to store my Lava soap bar which only sees occasional use so I needed a place to put it. Works great. * Helpful votes always appreciated *

Flawed Design

The product came as described. After using it for about a month, I've noticed that steam/water often seeps up through the joles on the bottom and becomes trapped inside. After cooling down, the water drips over your soap and slowly dissolves it. This is better than having no protection around your soap, but I wouldn't purchase it again.

Do not buy this. May leak chemical that causes cancer. Do you want to wash up using a soap that causes cancer?

Worst soap holder ever

I purchased this for travelling except the back of the soap dish is filled with little holes. It makes no sense and I threw it in the garbage because I don’t want my soap dish leaking all over my clothing. Would NOT recommend.

Good size

This soap dish is great for traveling. It's a good size, and it doesn't pop open too easily. Please note - the dish has holes at the bottom, as you can see from the photo, so make sure your soap is dry before putting it all in your suitcase.
