Good while it lasts
This is a good strong little pump. It's easy to install and puts out a nice even strong stream of water. For cats especially who will not drink still water this pump coupled with the PetWell water fountain works like a charm. It does have a shelf life of about 2 years. But when something is running 24 hours a day, that is not really a minus. It's a little work horse. Keep the vents in the pump clean of cat hair as it will affect the pump by decreasing the water it's taking in and can burn out the unit.

Original lasted 8.5 years
I just replaced the original pump from December 2014 with this one. The transformer component still works but the pump just stopped working. I’ll mess with it a little to see if I can fix.

Best replacement pump
My dogs' water bowl pump went out, and I ordered this PetSafe Drinkwell Original Dog and Cat Water Fountain Replacement Pump. I was skeptical at first and thought that it would not last. This has been the best replacement pump I could have purchased. It will get loud if the water bowl gets too low but that can be prevented by making sure the water stays at a good level. The pump is super easy to clean because it has a cover that comes off that allows you to get to parts that most pumps do not. I love this pump and so do my babies.

Works, make sure you have the correct gasket
There are two kinds of gaskets for the drinkwell pet waterers. One is square one is the round one included here. Make sure you have the correct one before purchasing as the square gasket is very difficult to get on unless you can re end the wire. My cat was very pleased and is back to splashing water all over the floor playing in it.

Not a 100% replacement for the Drinkwell Platinum you MUST keep the ajustment arm!
OK, my drinkwell pump was struggling to work, I had taken it apart and cleaned out all the gunk (or so I thought) but it was taking ages to 'get going' after each clean. This option was least expensive and arrived swiftly. I had seen another write up saying the arm was the wrong size and this was entirely correct, you need to retain the entire front section from your old one as the one that comes with this is too short and will not fit and switch them over, they are on the same sized front panel so easy enough. You can tell this is not the same quality as the original, it has three arms on the fan instead of 4 and is generally a poorer grade, but hey, I switched them over and it worked. Interestingly it showed how to clean the new one on the attched label, I had NOT had instructions with the old one and whilst I THOUGHT I had cleaned it fully, I soon learned I had not taken out the fan spinner itself. As it was magnetic it resists when you pull it and sucks back in and being a bit lacking in delicacy I had not forced it as many an item as died at my less than delicate touch. :-) However now I had a working one, what did I have to lose? Sure enough I wrestled the little sucker out and it too was gunked up...explained a lot! So thats cleaned down now and I have two if the new one is not up to the job! So YES it works for the DRINKWELL PLATINUM as long as you keep the front section and arm from your old one and switch it over.

Works better than original pump; two caveats
This new model works better than the pump that came with the watering station, in that it is not subject to clogging to nearly the same extent, so I'm happy with the replacement when the old one backed it in. Two related issues: This pump has a lever arm to control flow rate. The lever necessarily means the Pagoda tower will not fit flat to the water trough on that side, though it does on the other. The consequence is that about once a day you get an airlock where the pagoda coupling does not fit seamlessly to the pump output. All it takes is a little jiggle of the pagoda, which breaks the bubble and restores flow. This can be done during daily feeding; more of a problem if a friend is feeding the beasts. And: the filter that sits around the pump is necessarily interrupted by the pump lever, preventing a good filtration. Not a problem, so longs as the kits don't try to make kibble soup.

Direct fit OEM replacement
I have ordered a number of these little pump motors. A big plus is that these are a direct fit replacement for numerous pet drinking water fountains; also that a dc power supply is provided with each pump. Delivery was very fast. Only downside is they just don't last very long, about 1 year assuming that you keep the pump clean, less if the pump isn't cleaned or you water is very hard.

Pump works but arm on it is way to small and to short to reach where it is supposed to go.
The pump is the right size to fit my Pet safe Platinum water fountain, however the arm that measures the speed of the fountain is way to short to work, therefore I exchanged that part off the pump with the original arm that came with the fountain to begin with. The pump itself works, the arm on it is just too short to work. Recommend if you save the arm off yours to replace the arm that comes with this.

Lo compre para bebedero Drinkwell, afortunadamente tenía la parte para graduar la caída de agua de bomba original, porque está le "quedó corta"
