bright and batteries last forever
I've used this light on my nightly rides for a couple years now. It's as bright as you could possibly need. Flashing mode sips juice from the batteries. I use lithium rechargeable AAA batteries and have only had to recharge them a couple of times over the course of 2+ years. I prefer AAA powered bike lights because rechargeable light systems only reveal they need to be recharged when you're about to depart on a ride or while you're riding. In both scenarios, you're without a light when you need one. With a AAA-based light, you just insert another pair of batteries and you're ready to go. This Planet Bike light would get 5 stars from me except for a slight design flaw. Notice the picture here only features the back half of the unit. The rest of this unit (lens, circuit board, reflector shield, and batteries) released themselves on their own recognizance last night when I rode over some railroad tracks, I believe. I circled back later and couldn't find any of the debris trail. Anyway, if you look at this picture, you'll see that the on/off button is on the back of the case such that pressing on it exerts forward pressure towards the lens. I suspect that when I pressed this button holding the sides of the light, instead of the front of the lens, that pressure pushed the lens loose from the case. When I later hit a bump it all shook loose. This could be remedied with a rubber band around the whole thing, but that sure isn't very elegant.

Best bike lite!
Super bright and attaches to a bike rack. For quality and price point I don’t think you will find better. I’ve ridden 1000’s of Hiway touring miles.

Best budget-friendly Brake Light out there
This is one of the best budget-friendly brake lights out there. Installed on my wife's bike, the new bag on the back covered up her old one. This one installed perfectly on the Giant saddle tray. Had a small issue with one of the bolts, but got it on after awhile.

I'm buying again
Great value over the more expensive brand. A little cheaper made but no problem. Bright! Works well. Batteries instead of USB is much better. Battery last forever--and I think it's brighter than rechargeable. I'm buying another one.

Very bright, works with racks, needs top tier batteries for best life
Despite being a pretty dowdy looking red light, this tail light is bright as hell. Almost concerningly bright, in that I'm worried I'm distracting--rather than alerting,,motorists while riding in traffic. I actually mounted this in a way that slightly angles the light down so I'm not flat out blinding people behind me! Far as mounting, I had no problem mounting this on the back of a common Topeak Explorer rack with the included mounts--this was much appreciated, as many bike lights are difficult to mount when racks are present. This was a big selling point for the light. Far as modes, you get solid or a couple flashing modes. This light has one button and you have to cycle through the modes every time you want to turn it off from strobe flashing (always the setting I use for riding in traffic). This is a mild annoyance. The button itself is mounted on the rear of the light, which could be a problem for some types of bulky rack installs, but on my standard Topeak rack it isn't a problem and I can still hit the button just fine with gloves on in the winter. I've put this through pouring rain several times and not had a problem, however note that when you pull the light apart for a battery change, you'll need to take care with the very thin gasket between the lens and light body, as that's what keeps it water resistant. Batteries were included, but were not fresh and only lasted a couple months. We'll see how this light lasts with fresh Procells in it now. I strongly prefer tail lights with standard batteries because they last way longer and give you more options than a built-in lithium (you could always put in some rechargeable batts if you want), but mainly I just don't want to have to worry about recharging yet another device all the time. Overall, while not a 5-star product, it's not a bad light for the price. The Grateful Red is simple, basic, meets my mounting needs, and is, for better or worse, very bright. Update: apparently this thing is Ms. Pacman to batteries. Here we are a couple months later and I'm replacing the batteries again. When they die, it happens fast--from bright to dead within maybe an hour of run time. I use the light about 40 minutes a day 5ish days a week for commuting, always on flash mode, and I remember to turn it off when I park. Other bright AAA or AA taillights I've used in the same application have lasted 6-9 months between changes and sometimes better, so I've knocked a star off this one. Update 2: I get best battery life using the freshest, top quality batteries I can find. If they're halfway through their shelf life, you get a couple months. Fresh alkaline batts that have expirations more like 6 years from install do last much longer. So if you bought your batteries on sale and they don't have the best expiration dates or are off-brand, use those for remotes and computer mice and use something fresher and higher quality for this light like Procells or at the very least copper tops. I think this light probably needs particularly good current delivery so is sensitive to battery quality. Haven't tried lithium batts yet but that might be a good option too.

Great visibility
The media could not be loaded. First impression out of the box: I found them to be a little small as they were almost half the size as the original light my bike came with. The light came with two AAA batteries already in and ready to go. There is a big soft blue button on the back side of the light that is very easy to find. I found the light to be much brighter than the original light my bike came with so at that point, I did not care about the size anymore. Mounting: It came with a rear rack mount as well as a seat post mount. Installation to the rear rack mount was very simple and took about 5 minutes. Although I didn’t need the instructions, the images are very straightforward. 3 settings: Steady, “Superflash,” and Courtesy. -Steady is just the light at 13 lumens without any effects. -Superflash is a flashing or strobing light at 13 lumens. -Courtesy is a pulsing light that goes from 4 to 11 lumens. For people who ride with daytime lights, I can’t say the light is really noticeable in the daytime but it works as a reflector. It may be more noticeable on cloudy days or maybe early in the morning or evening. *This light DOES NOT turn off automatically after a minute of being stationary so you do have to manually press the button on the rear to turn it off and on. Waterproofing: The light is rated at IPX3 (protected against water spraying at a 60 degree angle) and has a rubber or silicone gasket so although not completely waterproof, it should be fine in the rain. I personally live where it doesn’t rain very often so I’m not too worried about it. Overall, it seems like a good sturdy light. I often ride on bumpy roads so I would like to see how well it holds up in the long run.

World Class Bike Tail-Light!
This is the best Bike Tail Light I've ever seen. I have one on my bike and put one on my wife's bike and I even bought a spare one that's been sitting in the drawer for a year or two. Large reflective surface area for safe day & night riding, very bright with 3 modes. They mount very nicely on the Axiom bike racks which have the bracket built-in specifically for this light. Very easy to remove when not using or to prevent theft when locked up!

Beautiful Light
Sure, I partly bought this light because of its witty name, "Grateful Red" but I also bought it because it was big with a large reflective surface and had an adapter for my rack which is hard to find. It is a large, bright, and nice looking light. Well worth the money. Hopefully the batteries last & I remember to turn it off.

Size matters
You get about 2” strip of intense light and overall the whole 3x1.5” unit lights up nice and bright. Not too bright, bright enough as the size of the lens is what matters not how intense a tiny dot is. Otherwise motorbikes and cars would have tiny insanely bright lights, right? Best light I have and I have some expensive back lights.

This light will get you noticed!
I bought this light for two reasons: The brightness of the light is unparalleled and I wanted to install it on my TOPEAK bike rack. The three modes (always on, blinking quickly and a slow fading strobe) are all brighter than you would think and the blinking mode really makes you highly visible on the road. The mount for the rack fit perfectly and was installed within a few minutes. There was also an extra mount for the seat post to use when the rack isn't on the bike. Highly recommended.

Very Good
Because it also comes with two different mounting parts, it is installed immediately when I get it. looks great.
