Great if your welding for a good amount of time.
I use cheater glasses when welding but I thought I would try this out. I have to use cheaters to check my welds and prep for the next weld so having these magnifiers in the welding helmet does not work out the best for me. Sometimes I forget to remove my cheaters and I get double magnification, which throws me off a bit. When I'm done welding I go to check out the weld and I can't see it. I then have to put my cheaters back on. I will probably only use this when I'm finish welding a large project which is all tacked up and prepared for welding. Just doesn't work for tacking or small projects.

2.0 Cheater -- Almost too good to be true
$4.20...You're kidding me, right?? I decided I needed a cheater lens after suffering for too long. I typically wear safety glasses under my hood, but they slide around and never stay at the right focal distance. So, even if I had correction lenses in my glasses everything was usually out of focus. I decided that I had enough money to try these. This 2.0 lens is designed for the Speedglas hood. Well, I don't have a Speedglas....but it works just fine. My Tweco hood accepted this lens without any problem. Well, it was a little snug going in, but that's what I was hoping for anyway. Most of the problems I have heard about are because the lens is too loose, won't stay in, etc., etc. Not with this one. Appears very well made. Extremely clear and sharp focus. No rough spots on the plastic rim. Very nicely polished. This lens is available in various strengths, so if you don't need the 2.0 you can have a 1.5 or a 3.0 (or others as well..). Overall, I am extremely pleased. And to think....All of this for $4.20..!!! Try to beat that at your local welding supply store...even for the cheapest thing they have. Go ahead, I'll wait............................Can't be done, can it.?? I've seen a fountain drink or a cup of coffee more expensive than that.... So, 5 stars for a tremendous value!! I like this so well, I might buy a couple more just because they are so reasonable..!!! (Not really, but you get the idea...). If you need or want a cheater lens for your hood, give these a try. You won't be disappointed.

I can see clearly now .......
A friend came over to help me set up my new TIG welder. In the course of the conversation he made mention that I could get a magnification plate for my welding helmet. He told me that it made a huge difference and suddenly a little light suddenly went on in my head! Since I wear glasses the lower portion of my glasses contains my bifocal, the part I would need for doing close work. However when wearing the welding helmet that part of my glasses is obscured. It is amazing how clear things are, and now we are making some pretty good looking TIG welds. The only issue I had with this lens is that it has a boarder around it that is about 1/8 th inch. This meant that it would not snap directly into my welding helmet. It may go directly into some helmets but not in mine. I side stepped this problem by using a little clear RTV to glue it in place.

BUY This, stop calling it a "Cheat"
This is a GAME CHANGER. I had my good and bad days as 40+ year-old amateur TIG welder. Some days I would find that my welds were perfect, other days I was really disappointed. I have found the key is that there are days that my eyes are tired. If I can see my weld perfectly, the welds are beautiful. If I "kinda" see the weld then the results are iffy. Get this and a good LED clamp light or two. If your welds are easy to see, you will be able to focus on all the other stuff (speed, temperature, etc) and keep your tungsten at just the perfect height.

Great for old people or those who need readers
I had a hard time welding as I need readers now that I’m older. It really helped and was easy to install on my welding helmet. Would definitely recommend

Hard to find
Seems most magnifiers are limited to 2.5 so these are rare

It magnifies and fit inside welding helmets
I use this magnifying insert to see small holes and cracks when welding and they helped me to see better. I don’t have a prescription reading glasses yet but getting there and this 3m insert glasses do their job.

Didn't realize that the lens would be about 60% of ...
Didn't realize that the lens would be about 60% of the coverage of the lens in the helmet. It's small. I guess that's so you can peer over or under it for normal vision through the helmet. Also, I wasn't expecting to get nauseous using a magnifying lens. Not really a problem with the product, but using it can cause you to get a bit nauseous as it messes with your vision if you look through it when you're not right up close to the part being welded.
