Keeps the espresso flowing

There's not a whole lot to be said about this stuff. It seems to do what it's supposed to (cleaning out calcium deposits in an espresso machine's water lines), and that keeps my espresso machine running, which means that I get to keep drinking coffee, and that makes me happy. The decalcifying process is pretty straightforward with my machine (Saeco Intuita), and I imagine that it's relatively similar with other Saeco machines: pour this stuff into the water reservoir and fill the rest of the way with water, then run it through the machine. My machine has an automated decalcifying process, where it pumps some water through, waits, pumps some more through, waits, and repeats that cycle until the reservoir is empty. I suppose that other machines may require manual intervention. But once that's complete, you run two more full reservoirs of water through the machine to rinse it out, and rinse off the brew group. So I guess the downside is that, because you have to clean everything and let the brew group air dry, the decalcifying process is pretty much something that you should only start on if you're not planning to drink any more coffee that day. But the upside is that you're keeping your machine in good health, guaranteeing lots of coffee in the future. I'd recommend keeping a spare bottle of decalcifier around, because you never know when your machine is going to need it.

Good Product but Expensive

The Saeco CA6700/47 Espresso Machine Liquid Decalcifier does what it's supposed to do. It removes the scale from your Saeco Espresso machine so you can continue to brew espresso at the proper temperature. You might ask, however, whether decalcification/descaling is needed every month. Probably not. Since I use only filtered water, I only have to descale once or twice a year. That's a significant cost savings over $10 a month. If you don't like forking over that much money, you might consider changing your water. Additionally, another review mentioned that product doesn't include directions for models with automatic decalc functions. This is true. The product includes manual decalcification instructions for machines without an automatic function. The Saeco Intuita I have included an instruction manual with detailed (though slightly incomplete) instructions for using this product and turning off that annoying red "CALC Clean" light. Check your manual or download it online for precise instructions. Overall, this is a good product but expensive. If you use filtered water you won't have to descale every month, which will save you some money. I use white vinegar in my automatic drip coffee maker, but wouldn't consider that in my Saeco. This is the way to go.

Pricey machine means pricey cleaning apparently

We use our Saeco Intelia:SAECO HD8753/87 Philips Intellia Cappuccino Fully Automatic Espresso Machine nearly every day and this is the second time we've gone through the descaling process. I would say that the last time we had to go through this cleaning process was 6 or 7 months ago...and believe me, it is a process! We have clean the machine manually and it seems to take forever. Some of the newer machines might do it differently so make sure you read your instructions. You have to use the whole bottle for my machine, and I am sure it is the same for the others. The price for the bottle is a bit ridiculous and I know that there are probably cheaper alternatives or "home brews" that could do the same. The problem is, I'm too worried about using something that could damage the high priced machine and would much rather play it safe using the stuff that was designed for it. I guess if I were having to do this every month, I might be complaining a bit more. Anyway, the stuff works, makes the machine happy, and I'm happy.

Easy to use

While I dislike the fact that I need to buy a product to descale myPhillips Saeco HD8645/47 Vapore Expresso Machine, X-Small, Black , if it keeps it running smoothly and doesn't void the warranty I will continue to do it. This arrived quickly and I plan on putting it on a 3 month Subscribe and Save so that I will be reminded to descale the machine before it tells me to. As for use just follow your machine instructions as I'm sure they vary from one to the next depending on features; mine took about 30 minutes. Additionally I also purchasedSaeco Espresso Machine Cleaner, Blister Pack of (10) tablets so that I can do both at the same time. Overall it's worth it to keep the caffeine flowing...

Saeco CA6700/47 Espresso Machine Liquid Descaler

There is nothing to dislike about the product, other than perhaps the price. Whether I really need it I don't know: our house is equipped with a water filtration and softening system; therefore I wonder. However I do use the descaler, although not quite as often as recommended, just to keep the interior of my espresso machine in good condition. I have not noticed any difference in performance of the machine or quality of beverage.

Better than other [cheaper] descalers

I hate to say this (because of the cost), but this product worked way better than the cheaper descalers you find at Walmart and Canadian Tire, etc. This is definitely more expensive (particularly because you are supposed to use the entire bottle each time you descale), but I found that when using this product, my machine needs to be descaled less frequently than with other products, thus I think it works better. I now only by Saeco descaler.
