Well Built
I have owned many reels. Bait casters, open face spinners, and closed face push buttons. As for the closed face reels, I have owned Zebco, Johnson, Abu Garcia and others. This Pflueger President spincast is top notch.

It's not light, but it feels sturdy
I just received it and looking to do some trout and crappie fishing with this in the PNW. I have not tested but it really feels solid. Also love the color scheme. I the the Zebco under spin reels when I was younger, but this one feel far more advance, sturdy and I'm digging the color. Cons: - Weight Not a travel reel if you are looking to take it on a long hike for small fish. The outer housing seem aluminum (as I take a magnet to investigate which part is steel) seems like only the trigger handle and silver butt with "P" letter plating. I'm not sure if this added any value to the sturdiness. I think they could have gone with a lighter material for the butt plating and would have dropped the weight of this significantly. - Can only handle 6 lb test line if you want some where in the 90 yard range, this is mono. I will switch to braid eventually and see how much it handles and function. - Loose components. There seems to be a little of a wiggle/play in the inner housing. I'm not sure if that is just mine or does everyone else have this problem? Also the spinning handle is a little loose. I opened and switch the spinning handle from left to right and no matter how much I tighten it there is still some wiggle with the handle. I think it's because the internal components are not attached to the housing. Pros: - Color/Design Well done on the nice blue and metallic grey color scheme - Release trigger is hard plastic, but attaches to the shaft with a metal pin, so it feels sturdy. - Great for newbies that know nothing about reels. It's like giving a new driver automatic transmission vs manual. - Easy to cast For newbies and intermediates, its great for casting into tight space as the release mechanism helps with faster release. Narrowing the chance to snags in trees and bushes. I will test this reel to it's limit as I will see if I can land fish between 4 - 12 lbs. And report back if I have any luck with it. Overall, for $30 bucks, it's a great brainless reel for when you just want to fish and not worry about casting. There is no shame in using a under spinning reel. I rather catch a fish with a under spin reel than not catch one with a more expensive, complicated setup. Good luck folks.

Jury's still out on this one (revised)
All in all, this seems like a solid product, however, when I attempted to attach it to the rod, it wouldn't fit, because the gap between mounting foot and the reel face cover was too narrow, and the piece that holds the reel to the rod wouldn't fit properly. That's on me as I should have done my homework a little better. It came pre-strung with monofilament, (8 lb I believe), but since I didn't know how old it was or anything about its performance, I just chose to strip that all off and go with the braid I use on all of my other reels. For the most part I'm glad I did as it doesn't take a lot of effort to launch a small lure several hundred feet. Maybe it's because the reel is new, but it felt so stiff when winding in the line. It also left me with the perception that something inside the reel was a little off balance, thus making reeling a little less than smooth. Had it out on the water for the first time yesterday, total of 6 hours being used continuously, hoped it would loosen up a little bit, but still feels a little stiff. I can't really compare it to any of my other equipment as my only baitcasting reel is a 30 year old Zebco Omega 1 or high end Shimano spinning reels, so I don't have any frame of reference with newer products. That being said, here are my pro's and con's: Pros: Affordable Solidly built Excellent drag control Reasonably fast line retrieval Thumb button action smooth Good reel for beginners/intermediate fresh water anglers. Casts exceptionally far with little effort Cons*: Action feels out of balance Reeling feels stiff and almost like something is catching or grinding Even though some people have had great luck with it, braided line may not be the best choice. (*) - These are my experiences with this one reel. I'm sure as time goes by it will loosen up, but I'm not sure how long that might be. Your experiences may vary. Conclusion: Would I buy this again? Absolutely! But it would not replace any of my ultra light spinning gear. Update 7/30/22: While this is an extremely well built reel, for the price range it's in, I'm revising my score and lowing it by one star. As I stated above it is very solid and nicely engineered, it's just not the smoothest or best casting. I have a 40 year old Zebco 1 that is still smoother reeling. Don't get me wrong, this is still an awesome product, but maybe it just takes a little time to break in, to the point where I like it. I'm going to keep it as a backup should my antique ever fail. I'm also going to explore different oils or greases, to see if I can get it to smooth out some more.

Great value
Great small size for panfish. I bought this for my grandson and it worked well with a telescoping rod he can mount on his bike now he’s a purefessional fisherman. Very easy to use with the casting trigger and the crank is bidirectional. Thought about buying one for myself!

love it
This is my favorite reel and I recommend it as a "hybrid" of a spincaster/spinning reel. Well made and versatile for quick cast returns. Best of both worlds and super easy to use for anyone. I put mine on a telescoping rod which keeps this reel well organized and easy to transport and no set up.

Great Reel! Very smooth and quiet!
Very impressed at this early stage. Used for 3hrs so far with no issues at all. Extremely easy to use, quiet, smooth, has a beautiful solid quality feel and weight. Using on a wor.my compact rod and it works perfect. Do not have much experience to compare from but am very happy with the purchase.

Well made not a toy reel
Smooth well made seems to cast nice. I bought this to keep in the boat for those time you take a inexperienced or young angler. It's easy to use and not a cheap crappy toy. I researched best push button reels and this was 2nd but about $75 cheaper than #1.. A no brainer.
