Looks nice, small birds approved

It was bigger than I expected, but it worked out better. Pretty sturdy and the open center is so cute when small birds fly inside to sit and rest. The only thing I don't like is how wide the mesh is. I'd say half of the bird food I pour in just falls straight outside through the wide mesh. I just have to repeat filling in multiple times after grabbing the fell-off pieces, but it's not that big deal.

Interesting feeder with one minor flaw.

This is an interesting feeder that allows birds to fly inside of the 2 holes and feed. The top slides up the wire after depressing a button at the roof peak. The nut on the backside of the roof peak came loose (easily tightened with plyers). That wasn't an issue for me, however the looped wire at the end to hang the feeder was. I have to use a 12' extendable pole with a hook on the end to take my feeders off and put it back on and with the limp wire it was a chore to get my hook back out, or to insert it to take the feeder down. A solid round or oval loop would've been much more appreciated. I ended up taking the swedge off and bought a 3" split ring and wrapped the wire around the ring and clamped it off. Now it's much easier to take the feeder down.

Fun for little birds but...

Holes are big and makes most food fall through. Best to use ???? sunflower seeds still shelled.

Love the design

This is the 2nd one I have bought like this and love the design. The birds go in and out and the seed seems to last a little longer because the squirrels can't get to the seed very easily. I gave it a 4 star because I only had it a few weeks and the hanger broke. I tied it in a knot and it's holding on for the time being. If it comes undone I think I can add a new wire for hanging but I definitely think the original hanger should last longer than a few weeks.

Watch for squirrels!

This was a replacement for the exact same old feeder which has peeling paint. The birds love to sit inside and eat so it’s their favorite feeder. However, within 3 days of hanging it, a squirrel had chewed through the thin wire and I lost a lot of seed on the ground. Good for the squirrels but not so much for the birds. I would like to see a heavier wire be used. It might allow more time to chase the squirrels out before they opened up a big hole. Otherwise it’s a great feeder. The old one lasted many years. Not much to be said for the packaging though. The feeder wire and frame were dented and bent in several areas due to bouncing around in an oversized box with only one small piece of bubble wrap for cushion. That should be remedied.

Birds LOVE this feeder!

The birds love going into the openings. If you have wild bears, you should bring in at night or put on a pulley and keep it high.

The very best bird feeder of this type anywhere

I have had this feeder for well over 12 years and have now just bought this second one to add to my gardens. These feeders are an incredible value for the dollar. They stand up to years and years of squirrels nibbling away at them, harsh winters and everything else. The birds love them. The open mesh design all around from top to bottom ensures very little opportunity for any seeds to rot or mold to develop. I cannot recommend this feeder enough. It's tough, decorative with a very useful design and incredible longevity. Do not waste your money on other sunflower feeders.

slowly replacing my other feeders to this style.

I love this feeder. I am slowly replacing my other nfeeders to this style. We have lots of sparrows and other little birds (chickadees, occasional red polls etc). I love my sparrows, they're happy and chirpy all winter but lets face it- sparrows are pigs. They toss seed all over the ground they are so wasteful and none of the birds have an opportunity to eat. I love this feeder because the sparrows have spend some time getting the seeds out and the other birds don't seem to have a problem getting the seeds out. Also its pretty cute when the squirrel sits in the square hole but even better that its not easy for him either, to stuff his face and run off with all the seeds.

Squirrels love this feeder

Nice looking feeder but sadly the squirrels have a ball in it and think it is a fun toy that contains food. The birds aren’t that interested in this feeder and prefer other ones available to them. I have too many overhead raptors in the area so have to keep my feeders close to places where birds can take fast cover, which sadly means feeders are also within jumping distance for the squirrels.

Not Squirrel Proof

I’m pretty sure I bought this because it was supposed to be squirrel proof. Funny thing about those lil fly through holes for the birds… they squirrels can use them as resting perches too. So it looks good. The black sunflower seeds we use as feed tend to fall through the holes, but most tend to stay inside. Holds a lot of sunflower seeds. Do not use for birdseed. Easy to fill. I recommend- just not if you want a squirrel proof model

It's not very functional

It's very nice to look at in my yard but, over priced and not very functional. The birds have a difficult time accessing the seeds in the closed of portions of the feeder. However, they do love eating from the circular openings but then the older seed just sits. When I first got it I knew of this issue from other reviews and I tried pulling seeds through. It was fine as long as I didn't fill it but when there's a lot of seed (black oil) all jammed together.....not so much Don't waste you money unless you just want to look at a $50 piece of metal
