Broke Down Quickly

I waited a year to write a review to see how this trimmer would hold up. Within the first 6 months the smaller close shave attachment no longer stayed on the trimmer. Now 4-5 of the teeth are missing from the trimmer. I don’t recall ever dropping this thing. For the high price, I’m very disappointed with the build quality. I feel like the battery life is good and it is pretty quiet. I also like that’s it’s held on the side for ergonomics. Also, they recommend cleaning and applying oil to 3 locations of the blade after each use. That’s a lot of work for it to still come apart so quickly.

Fantastic design

This product is configured differently than other personal groomers and its unique design makes it easier and safer to use. Most importantly, I have had zero issues with accidental nicks and injuries. Cleaning is a breeze and it has excellent battery life.

Excellent Body Trimmer

I bought this trimmer to shave my body hair in hard to reach and sensitive places and it's design allows me to cut and trim without fear of nicking my self. It comes with a great case and clip for the head for adjustable size of trimming. It also has some oil that it recommends using before and after every use but I don't think it's necessary. Overall it's a great trimmer that I would recommend.

Disappointed

This is an excellent product, but I was disappointed to discover that it has a corded charger. A previous model, which I have been using for years, came with a charger that snapped onto the clipper and plugged directly into an electrical outlet. It was much more convenient, and saved space in a small bathroom with limited space. I wrongly assumed that Panasonic would provide the same type of charger for a much newer model, instead of going backwards to a corded model. As others have mentioned, the charger and cord do not fit in the carrying case either. Normally, I would give this product a 5-star rating because it is easy to use, simple to clean and lubricate, and does the job well. The hassle of having to carry the charger separately, and finding space to use the corded version, greatly detracts from an otherwise outstanding product.

Works like it should

Have only used it a few times so far, but so far, so good. I can reach what I have to reach, thanks to the design. I can reach all areas of my back. It does take some shoulder mobility, but it is far from difficult thanks to the head cutting design. It can cut what it needs to cut, and nothing more. No nicks or cuts. The guards or length adjustments work well. Battery life seems fine. I’m honestly done faster than I expect every time (that’s what she said), and so I have no complaints about the battery. As for the durability, I guess time will tell. I’ll do my best to be careful. I do not regret this purchase. I really thought I was investing in a device that would make the process only slightly less of a pain in the ass (pun intended), but I am pleasantly surprised. It makes the job super easy and not a bother at all.

Appears to work as advertised, and arrived unused.

Reading some of the other reviews, one of my concerns was that it would arrived used. To my relief, it appears to be brand new. Onto my initial thoughts. Aside from the trimmer itself, it also comes with a comb attachment, charger, manual, oil, little brush, and travel case. The hair trimmer is easy to hold. The only one of its kind where the handle is held like a hair brush. This is the biggest selling point for me. The power button turns on the trimmer, and is located in a convenient location where you can use your thumb to turn it on. You press the power button to turn it on/off and it stays on. You do not need to hold the power button down. It offers a fine trim from 0.1mm to 12mm. The 0.1mm is without the comb attachment. The comb attachment offers dials for length. Haven't tried it. The blade is washable. I suggest brushing off stray hairs before washing before the hair sticks with water. The teeth on the trimmer are sharp and intact. I've read reviews that the teeth go missing over time. We'll see how well this holds up. It glides smoothly on dry skin. Haven't tried it on wet skin, and only did a quick test. It offers 50-min cordless trimming. Never needed to trim anything that long, so cannot comment. The charger is a proprietary charger by Panasonic. It is not a USB charger. It arrived charged. You cannot tell how much of charge is on it. It might be nice to see how much of a charge is available on device in a later model. Box advertises a complete charge in one hour. I purchased directly from Amazon and not a third party. There wasn't an option to ship in Amazon box for me, and for that reason, I opted to pick it up at the post office. You can see from the photos that Amazon has slapped on a shipping label, and the box is slightly damaged. For what it's worth, it's packaged tightly and well. Based on my preliminary inspection, aside from the exterior box, the actual trimmer and the miscellaneous peripheral parts are unaffected. I would have preferred to have exterior box intact because this is a gift for my partner. Seems like a good purchase. Time will tell.

Works Ok But Some Design Flaws

PROS: - Works quite well, I read some comments saying that this trimmer would pull on hair and not cut cleanly, but for me it cuts through all body hair easily. Although the new blade has only been used for 2 hours so far. -It is slightly easier and quicker to use on body hair compared to traditionally designed and oriented hair clippers (remember this trimmer is designed for body hair and will not work for cutting or shaving head hair.) CONS:- I was hesitant to buy this at first as many other comments on here showed that the blade was fragile and would break easily. And after opening it is true that the blade and its teeth are very small and thin, as shown in one of my attached photos with this product next to my old $30 Philips hair clippers, where the blade teeth are multiple times the size and much more robust. -The worst part about the design with this fragile blade is that it must be pushed on directly with force to remove it for cleaning the hair out and oiling, and the instruction manual suggests cleaning and oiling with every use. I believe this is how most people have broken this fragile blade. The red area I have circled in one of the attached photos shows the small blade area that must be pushed on with force to remove it, there is none of the black plastic to push on to remove the blade that is all part of the main body of the trimmer, only the circled metal part can be pushed on. I have also attached photos of the instruction manual explaining how to remove the blade. In one section it says “It is no problem when touch the blade by fingers (sic)”(broken English in an instruction manual is never a good sign) and then in another section of the instruction manual as shown in the photos it says “Do not forcefully press the blade.” Confusing information. And when I tried it does feel as though pieces/teeth will break off the blade when pushed against, so I am still uncertain as to how I am ever going to remove the blade for cleaning and oiling. -The trimmer does not come with a charging stand or anything to charge it on, only a cable. -The trimmer cannot be used when plugged in. This means that when the internal battery dies this item will become useless. And the battery life is not good, it is written in the instruction manual that if charged and used once a month it will last 3 years (this is in one of the attached photos as well). Panasonic says that a full battery lasts for 50mins of use. That equals to around 30-35 hours of use from this trimmer from brand new to the internal battery dying and then the whole trimmer needing to be thrown away. I think I remember reading somewhere that this trimmer does not have a lithium ion battery, but I’m not sure if that is correct. If it does not have one, it should for this price range. The way this trimmer is designed with the orientation of the blade head is unique, and there are no other competitors with this design that I can find online. I believe this is what has allowed this trimmer to be designed with a limited lifespan with the blade and battery, as there is no other competition for a trimmer of this kind. This product may very well be a good example of planned obsolescence.

Quality Product

This is a quality trimmer and I'm satisfied with it. It would have been nice if the battery life was longer than 50 minutes, but it only takes an hour to get back to full charge which is pretty good. The cleaning oil bottle is also pretty small, so I hope it doesn't run out soon and lasts as long as the trimmer life. Important: Don't ignore the instruction manual, it has really useful guidelines on how to care for the trimmer, especially the blades. It has information on how to wash it and how to use the brush and cleaning oil. Doing this will keep the blades sharper longer. Read the manual, you only have to do it once and your trimmer - and most importantly your body - will thank you.

Over priced

This review is for ERGK80s. Slow delivery, missed delivery date by three days! A large, poorly designed carrying case is included. Despite the size, this case has unusable space and you have to carry the charger in your pocket!!! The body of this groomer itself is well made but the dialing system! is flimsy. For $100 Canadian this machine is way overpriced.
