Great steamer for a lot or a little. Doesn’t scratch your pans and folds up for easy storage.

Silicone Good... Weebles wobble but... So what.??!!!
I was looking for a good quality steamer that would last. I did NOT want rust.... I did NOT want something that would come apart in use. I wanted a steamer that I could easily use and that would not cause me any grief. I found exactly what I wanted. Now granted, this steamer is a bit on the "spendy" side compared to some of the little metal ones. But it has great handles and it folds and fits conveniently into smaller pots. It is very heat resistant and works just as good as it looks. I tried it in a smallish 2 quart pot and it fit okay. The sides fold in on themselves and allow it to work as designed...although the capacity is reduced when used like this. If you use it in a larger pot, it holds more.. I found I could manage the handles without burning myself as long as I was careful. The steamer holds its shape well as long as YOU hold onto both handles. It has room for about one inch of water under the steamer....which is plenty for most applications as long as you watch it and don't allow it to cook completely dry. I would prefer to have slightly longer legs, but if you added additional length there, it would cause the overall height to stick up more and possibly interfere with the lid.... So it's a tradeoff. I will gladly accept it the way it is. This steamer is best used in a larger pot than I use. A three or four quart pot would allow more internal room for food, keep the overall height usable, and allow more volume for steaming water. NOTE: This steamer is a rubber material (Silicone..). If you don't observe due diligence and you allow the pot to boil dry..... Well, your steamer will not survive that much dry heat. While there is water in the pot, the actual temperature inside the pot is limited to the boiling point of water (more or less... there is a temperature variation called "latent heat")...which keeps the silicone from self-destructing. If the pot boils dry, the temperature rapidly goes up and the silicone will eventually melt to the pot. It really doesn't take very long to steam most things, so just watch it while it is on the stove and you will not have any problems. So, five stars for a well conceived and well constructed item. It does the job, and does it well. If you don't mind paying a little more for a better "mousetrap", then you will really like this steamer. Nice item...

Worked OK - would not buy again
I likes the idea of this steamer. I liked the look and sturdiness of it when I received it. When using it, you can fold the handles inside the lid of the pot you are steaming stuff in, or leave them poking out under the lid. I make my 'hard boiled' eggs now by steaming them (try it, you will never go back to boiling them) and this steamer worked OK. Lifting 12 eggs in it proved difficult and one even fell out onto the floor. The steamer also emitted an definite rubber smell when using it with veggies. I can't speak to it's longevity as because of my own dumb fault I let a pot boil dry when steaming eggs. The legs of the steamer burned right off. I was not impressed enough with the other aspects of it's performance to even consider purchasing another one of them. Back to stainless steel baskets for me.

Easy Hard Boiled Eggs!
I got tired of boiling eggs. Steamed eggs are much better - allows the sulfur in the eggs to more easily escape thru the shell. Simply fill a saucepan with water just up to the bottom of the inserted steamer basket - add a half-dozen eggs - fold the handles into each other and bring the water to a boil. Once boiling turn heat down to medium and cover the pan tightly. Steam for 15 minutes. Remove from heat and remove cover. Prepare a large ice bath/bowl… and place the eggs in the ice bath for 10 minutes. Remove to serve or to refrigerate. Eggs come out perfectly bright yellow! This steamer will fit just about any size pan.

Lasts
I steam over a dozen eggs at a time with this thing. Bought in 2014. Lasted 6 years before it finally ripped and needed a new one. Easier to clean and store than the steel folding ones. I just stack it with my other steel bowls and colanders. I never burn my hands on it when pulling it out of the pot. You can use a long spatula handle to thread through both and lift out onto the counter or a plate of you want. Overall, worth it!

Fits Instant Pot 3qt. Works great as a steamer basket and is easy to insert and remove.
I just purchased an Instant Pot 3qt and needed to make it more versatile. Daniel Shumski recommended this in his How To Instant Pot book, and I'm so glad I took his advice. The trivet that comes with the pot allows smaller items to fall through and into the water. This OXO steamer has little feet to keep food above water. I have used this OXO for cooking asparagus, brussel sprouts, salmon, chicken pieces. I've used it to cook ingredients in a small bowl. I've layered frozen salmon and asparagus and cooked them together. Takes experimentation with food piece sizes and cooking time, but I'm learning quickly. This is such a vital accessory it should have been included with the original pot!

Instant pot
Works well in the instapot. Only issue is the handles are a little long which can prevent the lid from getting a good seal. When this happens it can't get to pressure and the lid gets extremely hot.

Simply the best steamer I've ever owned
This is my third OXO steamer. I lost the first two in a typical way of becoming distracted whilst all the water evaporated and burned up my pots and ruined the food. Human error. I couldn't wait for this to come along with a new pot!! I use this steamer for nearly all my vegetables and have found it durable and non-fussy. It can hold quite a bit of fresh produce and is THE BEST for squeezing out the moisture from spinach. If I'm not distracted it works like a charm every time. Can't live without it anymore.

A good fit for the Pressure King Pro 6 litre One Pot
This silicone steamer basket is a good fit for the Pressure King Pro 6 litre one pot. I bought it to use in addition to the shallow basket that comes with the pot and the two go together very well, doubling the area in which vegetables can be steamed. I was tempted to buy one of the cheaper versions, but read horror stories of them melting etc. I can recommend the oxo basket - it is good quality and performs well in the Pressure King Pro.

Difficult and confusing to use
Unfortunately this product has been a disappointment for me. I've tried it in different - sized pots and it always slips down. I haven't figured out a way to secure it to the top of the pot properly.
