BAND IS DRY!
Obviously the photo is incorrect, this is actually the DB-36. Which by the way is a pretty great watch from Casio. Great size visual, backlight, countdown timer 24hours, stopwatch 24hours, dual time, Awesome data bank for phone numbers and 5 multi-function alarms, meaning you can set them for specific days of the year. Also hourly time signal and the loudest alarm I've heard yet from a Casio an I have many Casio's. Oh ya the band was probably old and dry, might irritate some peoples skin, but is easily replaceable.

Buying a 10-year watch, Renting a 1-year watch band
Great features, good light, and many of the functions and information you would want are right there in the main display function, but the loop dies, then the whole band dies as well. The loop that restrains the loose end of the watchband split and fell off in the first year, and in the 2nd year, the band literally split in two while leaning on a countertop. I wear it slightly loose, to let moisture dry easier, so it wasn't a case of a fat limb in little band. I bought a couple misc sets of generic loops, so I have replacements in the future, but at the point where I have to replace a $10 band and a $6 loop on a 2-year-old $24-26 watch, I'm replacing the watch, and chalking it up to disposable watches and their new price point.

Grudging approval from a long-time Databank fan
I have worn Casio Databank watches since I was a kid, long before they were some kind of bizarre retro fashion accessory, as Casio seems currently to be marketing the remnants of this once noble product line. Now that I've been dragged, flailing and protesting, into the age of the cell phone, most of the aspects that once made the original Casio Databank useful (and cool) are moot. For example: PHONE NUMBERS -- No one with a cell phone needs to have records of important phone numbers on their wrist. No one who finds me unconscious is ever going to think of checking my watch for emergency contact information. CALCULATOR -- Your cell phone can do this. Not as compactly, but it can do it. SCHEDULE -- Your cell phone can do this, especially if you've got a smartphone. This was my favorite aspect of the Databank. You could set an alarm with text for a future date. This model has the future alarm capability, but you can't add any text, so you're left to guess why you set that alarm. TIMER/STOPWATCH -- I just discovered my ancient flip phone has these features. Alas. You get the picture. This is an air-brushed dinosaur. Why bother? After I recovered from the shock of losing my last Casio Databank, I debated long and hard about buying this watch. Here are the reasons that swayed me. 1. I'm not through with watches yet, and it has nothing to do with my fashion sense. Sure, my cell phone has the time, but I like to see the time on my wrist. I also don't like to rely on something that has to be charged all the time and may emit harmful radiation over long-term usage. I want some features available without pulling out my phone. 2. You can get versions of the classic Databank, but they're $175 (http://www.amazon.com/Casio-DBC150-1-Databank-Digital-Watch/dp/B000GB1R8C/ref=sr_1_8?s=watches&ie=UTF8&qid=1396964551&sr=1-8&keywords=dbc310-1) or $235 (http://www.amazon.com/Casio-DBC310-1-Databank-Discontinued-Manufacturer/dp/B000GAWSBS/ref=sr_1_2?s=watches&ie=UTF8&qid=1396964551&sr=1-2&keywords=dbc310-1), which is really hard to justify out of nostalgia alone. 3. The current Databank watches with calculators (http://www.amazon.com/Casio-Mens-DBC32-1A-Databank-Watch/dp/B000AQVRWO/ref=pd_sim_sbs_watch_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=15X1F27RNZGBHPXP8WH4) lack the countdown timer. I use this feature all the time and can't imagine why they didn't put it on there. 4. This one is water-resistant to 50 meters. I had an $8 watch that I'd been wearing for four years until its integrated (non-replaceable) band broke. I washed dishes, swam in pools, under waterfalls, etc., and its 30-m water resistance did just fine. That gives me confidence about this feature that the old Databank watches never had. 5. This is a really decent price. That allowed me to overcome my irritation about two additional points and give this 4 stars. CONS - No schedule alarm text possible. Real bummer, as I mentioned above. - THE ALMOST DEAL-BREAKER: No way to turn off the input beep, that insanity-inducing beep that happens whenever you switch modes or change certain settings. Please, Casio, have mercy! I just want to set a countdown timer in peace. Instead, I have to endure six or seven beeps to get to timer mode, get the timer set, and back to time display. If anyone knows how to turn this off, PLEASE COMMENT AND TELL ME. I'm desperate. This was done in calculator mode on the old Databanks, which obviously doesn't apply here. There are few other minor things I could gripe about, but I'm happy to be wearing a Databank again. Casio does good work, and I'll continue wearing their watches as long as they keep providing useful features. UPDATE (10/22/2014) Miracle of miracles, I found my old DB150, missing for five years! I put new batteries in it, and the 90s are back for good. The model I'm reviewing above is back in the desk drawer for the next time I'm going swimming. I realize now how much I missed the calculator, the ability to enter text with schedule events, and the SILENT BUTTONS! I will say two things in favor of the DB36 now that I've experienced both watches recently: (1) the text, though ugly, is more readable than on the older watch, and (2) it's nice to have the watch continue displaying the time while you're in different modes, though sometimes annoying to have to switch back manually.

Good tough watch
I've worn a data watch even after they were not needed because of cell phones. The one thing I don't like about it is the light comes on about one second and doesn't even give the eyes time to adjust but iit keeps good time is not too expensive and is everything I need. I've never been sure why turning on your phone every time you want to know the time is better. trin

Just love it
I have had this watch since 2020, and I still love it! My only concern is about the band, they are cheap quality and do not last more than two years of use

Classic Casio is still the Best!
I have been using this particular watch for a few months without difficulty. I have been using this particular model of Casio watch for about 35 years (eh gads!). It is really a great design. Full of functionality and very easy to use. The setup is quite intuitive, although decades of use may help. I actually stopped using this watch for over a decade as I switched to more advanced smart devices, cell phones, PDAs, i-things. But then I stopped updating my online calendar and started missing appointments and started burning things on the stove and I remembered how great this phone was for many years. I love the 5 alarms which I can set days in advance to remind me of appointments. I love the fact that it stores 30 phone numbers exactly as I input them. I don't have to worry about my various synching apps and backup apps and social media apps synching which leave my online contacts a complete messy morass of people I don't remember and outdated addresses that get restored every time I delete them. I have over secured my contacts and can no longer unwind all the various synchings and apps and backups and connecting to social media features so that my contacts have become unusable and only lead to my calling people I haven't talked to for a decade or two, old bosses who I wish I had never met and other random people who wonder what the hell I am doing dialing their numbers and hanging up on them. Also, the countdown timer works excellently. I can use it for cooking and for watering. So I don't have to worry about burning down the kitchen or racking up huge water use fines in this drought stricken state. The stopwatch is also excellent. I can use it for so many things that you don't need to know about. When I was younger, this was how I timed my miles as it has a split function - now I don't even recall what that means - miles? running? huh? I feel like I may be forgetting some functionality. Did I mention the light? The dual time zone feature? The date? I should have. These are all nice to have features. I also like knowing exactly what time it is and not having to read the watch hands. The day of the week is in large letters - so great for a quick glance. In fact, I can read the time without my cheaters. I love this watch. I loved it in the 80's and 90's and I love it once again in 2014. Thank you Casio for keeping a classic!

Database puts it beyond a watch.
I have had the chromium version of this watch for many years which I find extremely useful for remembering telephone and other numbers. I often wear it when doing DIY and it is getting scratched so I thought the plastic one would be much more durable.

Good Quality Watch
Watch delivered early only 7 days from America not to shabby, good quality watch similar to the old Casio I used to own so very familiar with the functions on the watch. Highly recommend this watch, but keep an eye open as I paid £22.95 and 2wks later it went down to £17.00 and now it has gone up to £33 something.

Good for the price, nice features
I bought this as an anniversary gift for my boyfriend. He was not used to wearing a watch. But he pretty much wears this one everyday. As he loves statistics, he can't stop using a digital watch with all the features. I'm happy with the purchase.
