Great RPi alternative

With the crazy prices that raspberry pies are going for, I decided to give this a try for my home automation server. Setting up the device is very quick and easy. Just follow the docs on their website, and you can have Debian up and running in no time. Temps seem manageable, even with just the passive cooling that comes with it--at least for light usage. While it was a bit hard to find docs for my specific use case (Home Assistant), I was eventually able to figure it out using some resources I found in forums.

Very easy setup for a Single Board PC

I bought this to run a nice program 24/7 and this board is great. I log into it remotely every once in a while to make sure things are running smoothly. I like how little energy this thing uses as well. I would recommend this over the current out-of-stock competitor as the main backup.

FUN!!!!!

Bought this for my son. He has played with it almost non-stop for a month. Has it hooked up to his TV and computer. Is learning IT and applying his new-found knowledge to fiddling with this gizmo. Had some trouble getting the operating software to load but said he used on-line chat rooms to ask for help.

Used to run Solar Assistant

I flashed the Solar Assistant image to an SD card and booted it right up. No problems with overheating in the provided case using the heat sink, and no issues with board stability. I have the device running 24/7 monitoring several inverters and batteries, and it runs doing that job without any issues. The only downside is the case provided does not provide any easy access to the additional headers on the Orange Pi. If you want to use them, you will have to manually modify your case. An outlet for pushing the Wi-Fi antenna outside of the case and off the board would have been nice to have as well.

Good Value Kit Delivered Ahead of Schedule; Runs A Bit Warm

Good value for an alternative kit to the excessively priced Raspberry Pi 3 kits currently. The included case only contains a heatsink for the CPU and no fan. As a result the board can run a bit hot (over 80 C) in a warm environment, especially during high CPU and I/O use. Due to the limited RAM storage concurrent multiple window usage is limited. I found the Epiphany Web browser to be a better alternative to Chromium for use with both my Armbian Jammy 22.08 and Debian Buster 2.2 Linux systems that I downloaded and burned to micro SD cards (make sure to use a A1 or A2 rated card for improved performance -- i.e -- SanDisk Ultra or better). Both these Linux distros run quite reliably on the Orange Pi 3 LTS. The benefit this board has that I like is that it actually powers off on shutdown. Happy with the purchase; just need to come up with a way of keeping the board cool when days are hot. Haven't utilized a Touch Screen monitor yet, but the system works well on a HDMI PC Monitor.

Mi esposa está encantada

Compré un híbrido 7 para mí esposa, Lady Flex, ella se acomodó a las mil maravillas con un híbrido 4 y estaba buscando uno para tiros un poco más cortos. Lo fácil con lo que se acomodó es impresionante. Lo sacó directamente al campo sin pasar por la práctica y cada vez que lo usó en 3 rondas no falló el golpe. De verdad está encantada y el precio es menos de la mitad del otro híbrido en su bolsa. Seguramente compraré otros.

Nice to have an easy club to hit... now a full size hybrid so it makes a nice middle ground between the irons and hybrids!
