QC is complete crap with these....read on...

I normally don't write reviews for small stuff that I buy, but felt like I needed to for this... The QC (quality control) for these is complete garbage. I ordered two. The first had rust along the threads, no instructions, and no wrench. The top retaining nut/bolt came apart, which I thought was normal until I opened my second one and found how it should actually be. This made figuring out (what should be simple) installation annoying - because as others have warned, the paper cover is very cheap and you don't want to rip a hole trying to figure out installation. It looked worse than something being sold out of a "store closing" sale. My second I got everything and it looked brand new..... The packaging was built for efficiency to pack in small boxes to save on shipping. They just scrunch up the paper flat when packing so that it's completely ruined and crumpled by the time you get it. You have to remove the bottom fake felt cover and then you see the nut that is supposed to tighten the shaft to the base. The nut is way too tiny and the wrench way too thin to make this seamless. Hope you have a normal crescent/adjustable wrench. The legs of the wire frame go into the holes on the paper wire frame, and yes - you do flex the frame to get one under the other, then screw in. After it's all together, it looks ok. What ruins it is their complete disregard for packaging the paper lamp portion. No matter what, it will look like a crumpled piece of trash put over a lamp - it really ruins the whole thing. But....it's paper, so plan to just make your own I guess. The shaft/base look decent enough, so I imagine once I replace the paper, it will look fine. So it's a semi-decent product ruined by shoddy QC and packaging attention. For the price (similar styled lamps at BedBathBeyond and such are ~60 each), it's worth the trouble - barely. If you have low tolerance, then I think your budget is too low.

Bright little lamp

This lamp is great. However, it is probably smaller than what you expect it to be. Although it is 17 inches tall as advertised, it seems 17 inches is much smaller than I had thought. Not necessarily a bad thing, just something to keep in mind. It can take up to a 60 watt bulb, that's what I have in it now. Puts out quite a bit of like for such a small lamp. You have to assembly it. You bolt the shaft to the base which is the longest part of the assembly and can take quite a few minutes because you have to turn the bolt many times with short strokes. The rest of the assembly is pretty smooth. You attach two pieces which act as a frame for the shade and then put the shade on. The shade is definitely made of paper. So I'm hoping they're not allowed to sell something that can catch fire easily. The pull chain that turns that lamp on/off takes a little more force than your standard pull chain. Which is a little problematic because the lamp is so small and is extremely light. I use to have to hold the lamp down when I pulled the chain. But now I use a remote power socket so I turn it on/off that way. Great lamp though.

LET ME START OFF BY SAYING THIS LITTLE LAMP....ARE YOU SERIOUS! lol I LOVE THIS LAMP ITS SO CUTE AND NOT AT ALL A LITTLE LAMP ITS A REGULAR TABLE LAMP AND SOOOOOO WORTH THE MONEY, IT WAS KIND OF COMPLICATED TO GET THE BOTTOM PIECE TO TIGHTEN THATS WHYT I TOOK A STAR BUT OTHER THAN THATITS BEAUTIFUL! THE DECOR IN MY BEDROOM IS MUSTARD YELLOW WHITE AND BLACK AND THIS WENT WELL ON MY NIGHTSTAND. THE LAMP SHADE IS KINDA LIKE PAPER LIKE IKEA LAMP SHADES PROBABLY A LITTLE MORE DURABLE, BUT IF YOUR A ROUGH PERSON BE GENTLE PUTTING IT ON BECAUSE IT COULD RIP BUT I TOOK MY TIME STREATCHING IT OUT AND PUTTING IT ON AND I LOVE IT! ABSOLUTELY RECOMEND THIS MUSTARD YELLOW TABLE LAMP, NOT FOR KIDS THOUGH DUE TO THE EASY RIPPING POSSIBILITY UNLESS YOU PUT IT UP HIGH WHERE THEY COULDNT PLAY WITH IT!

Nice looking, questionable quality

This lamp looks very nice... if you don't actually set it up the way it's supposed to be set up. Sadly, the paper lantern part is a bit small for the frame that's supposed to hold it; when I received my first one, it ripped just as I got it stretched to the correct length (the company sent me a new lantern free of charge). With the second, I just let the paper lantern sit on the frame, and it's fine. A few creases are still visible from where it was folded, but those are fading with time. Other than a too-small lantern cover (or too-large frame), it's well-made, sturdy, and attractive. UPDATE: Two years later, the creases never hung out. I still like the look of the lantern, but all in all, I'd probably get on that fit its design from the start.

Good buy

This lamp is just what I wanted. It's small, simple, casts just enough light to read by and pretty. I needed one with a small base as my night stand is very small. The instructions for putting it together did not help me but I managed to figure it out within a few minutes. I had read in some reviews that it toppled over easy or fell over when using the pull chain but I have not found that to be my experience. There are some faint folds on the lamp shade from how it was packaged. I don't notice them but some people may object if they are very particular.

Great little lamp!

The media could not be loaded. Despite caution in other reviews, I actually quite like this lamp! It was really easy to put together. I know other people say that the paper part of this lamp is really thin, but I don’t find it that thin. Just don’t be obviously extremely rough with it. Other reviews said it falls over when you pull the string for the light on and off, I don’t find that it does that when you pull the string directly down, and not outward and down. One thing to note, the description says it’s 18 inches from base to top, but it’s only about a 15 1/2. But overall, I think this little lamp is great!

Just okay

They are cute but I received 2 of the same color and one was slightly different so they dont exactly match. Also very flimsy, hard to tighten the hardware. The fold likes in the paper don't ever go away so on several sides you see a long fold line. Probably wouldn't buy again.
