Great case - attractive - well constructed

Took this on a month long trip to Italy - This worked well for several weeks of mixed clothing at the change of climate in Oct. The four caster wheels worked well, needed to use it on two wheels for the cobble-stone streets in Rome and the bridges in Venice. Convenient strap handles on side and top that are comfortable to grab yet fold flat when not in use further reducing the external protrusions that could affect stowing in A/C compartments. Very impressed with both the construction and looks. The extra compartments (external) were very helpful. There is one internal small zippered pocket that also let me stow some small but needed to be accessible items. I bought this unit as it is at the current limits of acceptable carry-on bags when you also consider that some require everything to be within the dimensional limits. The expandable section allows the expansion of the main compartment by over 1/2 inch - really helps - especially if you are using this instead of a larger suitcase. It's size forces you to take greater care in what you take - it also makes it easier to haul around town to accommodations and within transportation areas. I did take one small carry-on to stow some light but bulky items like two sweaters and soft shoes. They were easy to strap on top of the case with my small laptop case. Totally recommend this carry-on. Meets carry-on limits yet with expansion lets you take a lot more if you want to check it in. Gives me a case that I can both carry-on or in it's expanded mode carry more and check it in as luggage. Good price for the quality you receive.

Great carry-on for the price!

I was hesitant to buy a new bag after having a few cheap-ies die on me (usually its the wheels that go first in my experience, especially if you have to do some walking with your bag, to get cabs, and so on). This was my first amazon luggage purchase, and I was a bit hesitant as there weren't many photos of this particular item (you can look now, I did add a bunch!) and I wasn't familiar with the quality of the product being offered. However once the bag came, I was extremely pleased. The bag is made of durable material, and has large secure zippers (didn't get anything caught in them, and they are easy to work with). The wheels are very smooth, when walking through the airport, this thing works well being pulled, riding beside you (all 4 wheels down) and even pushed (all 4 wheels, as 2 wheels makes it go wonky -- wheels are swivel motion based, so not really for pushing, they will rotate at any slight turns). So far I have used the bag on 2 flights and it has worked really well, both comfortable to go through security checks with, works well as a carry-on (obvious selling point for me). Not sure why someone complained that this bag was too big for carry-on? I didn't have any issues on Delta flights, even tho one plane was specifically valet, which resulted in my bag being put under the plan as opposed to above my head. Overall, great luggage, easy to travel with, strong construction (when waiting for your flight, use it as a foot rest while reading, doesn't sag / squish down at all).

Fits my needs well but handle doesn't last

I've had this for about a year now and flown with it several times. The bag itself is fine- I especially like the sturdy zippers and the amount of space. It is true that on some flights it absolutely will not fit in the overhead compartments, so you will have to do a planeside check. However, I usually travel light- just this and a backpack. So I put all my in-flight necessities in the backpack in case I can't bring this on with me. Who needs to dig through a suitcase in the middle of a flight anyway? I love the 4 wheels, especially in the security line. I can just roll it in front of me with my other bags piled on top of it. However, it is also true that if you are actually walking somewhere, you will need to pull it behind you- it does not push very well. Update 2014 The handle on this luggage does not hold up. For a while it had been sticking and difficult to expand/collapse. Then on my last trip with it, as soon as I got out of the van the handle would not expand at all. I had to carry it through the airport (2, actually) and it was pretty heavy. I'm not terribly pleased with it, even though I will say it held up for about 2-3 years. Lost a star.

Great for a taller person! All should use four wheeled bags!!

Highly recommended with confidence. I specifically purchased this bag ** Olympia American Airline Skyhawk 22 Inch Expandable Airline Carry-On,Black,One Size ** hoping the handle would extend enough for me -- I am 6 feet 5 inches tall. It worked very well on my recent trip. It extends more than my wife's standard 22" inch, four-wheeled bag. It is quite sturdy and built solidly. The whole bag is well-constructed. I highly recommend four wheels to all travelers. I have done a lot of business travel over years, and vacation too. Being able to push -- not just pull -- your bag through a crowded airport is defintely easier. If not overpacked, it stands up very nicely. No problem with a Delta domestic flight overhead bin...no international travel yet. I used eBags packing cubes (1 sm, 1 med, 1 lg) with great success. Overall very happy!! P.S. I am one of those people who does rarely, if ever, gives the top grade (5 stars). 4 stars is very high praise in my opinion.
