Simplicity of the design
Was able to install the lights on my existing track. Very creative as the bulb becomes the fixture.

"Bare-Bones" item is a good deal
The lamp mounting with this item is a bit unusual: The head of the GU10 bulb (not supplied) is affixed to the gimbal ring and then a SEPARATE power end connector is clipped onto the two electrical connector posts on the back of the bulb. It's the bulb itself which supports the power end connector. Now, isn't THAT just NOVEL! I say "bare-bones" for this item because its design is about the simplest (and lowest cost) of all track heads I found. 'Course, this design also makes for other possible problems like the end connector coming loose - or even the bulb, itself, while trying to readjust the track head. ('Haven't tried it yet - 'just anticipating....what with prior experiences with similar "weaknesses" in other products. Yeah, I'm considered to be an "expert" in the field. Believe me, I've earned three doctorates in the School of Hard Knocks!) I ordered LED bulbs instead of halogens for this track lighting project and I am finding the LED bulbs are somewhat smaller in diameter, making the spring clips in the ring push the front of the bulbs to the outside of the ring mountings. This won't be a problem unless the restriction of the cooling vanes in the bulbs with this non-centered mounting give problems. 'Not really anticipating a cooling problem, though - these are only 5-watt LED's. From what I saw in other LED bulbs fitting into OTHER track head assemblies, the problem is usually reversed - the LED bulb not being able to fit into the assembly in lieu of the regular halogen. I used these LED bulbs: (copy & paste) http://www.amazon.com/gp/r.html?R=WY5BL37WGREP&C=3T5MUR8F9569O&H=CSR8QGOASTLJYILKD533A5FBBX8A&T=C&U=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fdp%2FB008OCAST4%2Fref%3Dpe_385040_30332200_pe_309540_26725410_item (EVER 5W GU10 LED Bulb, 50W Equivalent, Warm White @ $8.99 ea.) Also, getting these mounted into the ring/clip assemblies won't be a problem if you're the least bit nimble with your fingers. 'Just hafta push on one of the spring clips while inserting (and slightly rotating) the bulb into place. 'Piece a cake after you've done it once. All in all, I'm satisfied that this is exactly what I had expected when ordering. That's why I'm giving this item 5 stars. Just be aware of the info stated above so's not to come up with any disappointments later! THIS IS A FOLLOW-UP (added later)concerning how to alleviate a possible problem during adjusting the track head after it's mounted on the track: After working with these, I've found that you'll not have trouble with adjustments of future lighting positions. In order to insure the power end connector or the bulb from becoming detached during adjustments, all you need do is form or bend the wiring going from the track head to the end power connector to conform to the new position. The wire is fairly stiff and might pull something loose if you don't include this little ditty with your adjustment. Oh, what we'll do to have a "bare-bones" track head! I think it's well worth it, though.

Work, but tricky to get initially installed and placing some lamps into them can be harder.
Works - though the spring clip retaining is a problem with finned/non-smooth lamps such as the LED lamps that use the outside surface of the lamp shape as a heatsink and have ridges. That is a problem of the lamp design and not necessarily the gimbal lamp mount -though a different retaining system could compensate. Interestingly enough, getting the them to work initially took several tries. I think you can only turn them ONE of the 2 directions to seat in the track. Initially I had the track up and plugged in the power puck in the middle, and a gimble light with a bulb and nothing. No power. Measuring showed 110v at the wires to the power puck but no power on the track. Eventually I fouund that rotating the puck into the track the OTHER way and it seated and provided power. The same seemed to apply to the heads here - as they all work so long as I can see the same writing on the turn-in puck block once they are seated.

Very good for the money
Takes a little bit of fidgeting, but an MR 16 fits in this critter if you remove the face place. Looks good on a rail

Doesn't work well with LED bulbs
This probably applies to all similarly designed 'gimbal ring' track heads, but the clipping mechanism makes it difficult to mount LED bulbs due to the finned heat sinks on most LED bulbs. Should be fine with standard bulbs.

Great low profile track light
Works well. Attaches to standard rail very securely. The design of the light allows you to point the light in nearly 360 degree directions. Its a low profile track light: when you want people to look at the things below the light.

Three Stars
It works but look much ugly than the picture shown on the site.

Does not accept MR16 bulbs
One arrived already misassembled. We purchased these because they accept MR16 bulbs but instead fit GU10. Maybe the ones we got were the wrong ones?
