Great for making beef jerky
Love this food dehydrator I make a lot of homemade beef jerky dog treats so it’s perfect! however do not put the trays on the bottom dish rack they will warp I did that and I had to order replacements

Wonderful snacks, made easily and inexpensively
The best features: The FAN is housed in the top position. Long years ago, when I bought my first food dehydrator, the machinery was in the BOTTOM position. While that might have some advantages for balance, it meant that whatever dripped or fell down impacted the piece with moving parts. Consequently, clean-up, PARTICULARLY of grease drippings, was difficult, as you can't immerse the unit in hot water. I really like this design. The time and temperature controls are easy to use. A helpful guide to temps for different snacks is printed on the control unit, so I don't have to remember. It also makes it possible to get a batch going that will be finished in the middle of the night, and not have to set an alarm to wake up and turn it off. Very quiet. I was running a batch in the room next to where I was having a meeting, and it presented no problem at all. I have even had a conversation at the kitchen table while to machine was running, and I didn't have to raise my voice to be heard. A new development, and one I haven't tried yet, are the tiny grid Clean-a-screens. I'm going to try dehydrating nectarines today, and that might be the way to go. My 16-year-old son Kenneth is fascinated by the process of seasoning and applying the beef to make jerky.

Love it
I’m simply loving this dehydrator it’s running more often than it’s not. I’ve done jerky, I make all my puppy treats, fruit vegetables, marshmallows so many possibilities. It’s easy to use Unobtrusive it comes with 4 racks but you can buy more to expand the capacity. It cleans up easily. Some complained about racks breaking easily but that has not been my experience.

Review of the Nesco FD-79 Dehydrator
I received this unit on 15.Mar.22 upon inspection and use I note the following... 1)...adhesive used for the label is useless, it can't withstand the heat generated and slips off during use. 2)...not sure if this chipped off during shipping, but it didn't appear to be an issue during use (2nd photo) 3)...maximum temp setting is 160 degrees, had to increase drying time by 30 minutes, compared to the other dehydrator I have. I can set max temp at 165 degrees. 4)...noise level is minimal and tolerable, relatively quite... Overall, it's not a bad dehydrator.

The top is great, but the trays are cheap and flimsy
I bought this mainly for the top, needing a spare after my 12 year-old FD-75PR burned out the thermal fuse (2nd time) and was difficult to reassemble because of warpage. I like the digital feature, and hopefully being 600W it won't get so hot that it warps like my old unit. The trays are another matter entirely; cheaply made and fragile- I doubt I'll buy another Nesco dehydrator unless they bring back the sturdier trays.

Fun
I have only been using this dehydrator for a week now, but love it. I have done radishes, mushrooms, tomatoes and Hatch peppers. There is a learning curve because, while the machine is easy and rather self-explanatory, there are variables in the food, how thick you slice them, ambient temperature and humidity, etc. So you have to take a peek now and then to see how things are going. However, that's easy to do and the instruction manuel suggests you use a journal to keep notes. I found that very helpful. My only complaint is how to position the top piece (the heater) when I am taking a peek. It doesn't sit flat. Not a big deal, but a better design would make it so you could place it aside and not have it roll on the pivot/heater mechanism. That being said, I definitely recommend this dehydrator as a good buy. I'm loving it and think dehydrating is a lot of fun.

Everything I was Looking for!
I've been wanting a dehydrator for awhile to prevent food waste and to make fruit/vegetable chips. I looked into which brand people recommended and Nesco kept popping up. I'm happy to say that this Nesco Dehydrator has been great! It's very quiet and it has done a good job dehydrating what I've put into it. So far I've put in some mango slices and mint and they dehydrated fairly quickly. It's about the size of a pressure cooker/slow cooker so keep that in mind when it comes to counter space. Controls are also intuitive and easy to use. It also came with some jerky mix which I haven't gotten the chance to use but I'm excited to try it out soon.

Great compact unit
I had the big Gardenmaster FD-1018 for years and absolutely loved it. But it was just too big. So I bought this unit because it was smaller and lighter. I have made one batch of beef jerky to test it. I’ll say this, it is a great unit. Quieter than my old unit. Four trays are enough to dehydrate 2.5 lbs of beef. However, I did a test of temperature when set to 160°F. The top tray gets to 164°F but the bottom only gets to 154°F. So be sure to rotate the trays while drying. The trays are also lower quality than the ones from the FD-1018, but I’ll just go easy on them and they’ll be fine. In the end, I like how this unit is compact and quite quiet, compared to my old larger unit. I also like that the fan is on the top, so drippings on the bottom are no big deal. The bottom can go in the dishwasher with the trays. And pro tip, when dishwashing the trays, pull them out before the dry cycle so they don’t melt.

Qualité et prix.
Contrôle de la température.

Poor quality. Temperature dispersal questionable.
I was disappointed with this dehydrator. I have the exact same product (just an older model - about 8 years old) and I absolutely love it. Worked better than any other dehydrator I tried. Wanted to get a second one so I could have different items drying (different temps needed) at once. But the craftsmanship of this brand has gone super downhill. The trays are much much thinner, and they seem warped. They don't fit together properly - there are visible gaps between each row and you can feel air escaping. This makes me question how even the heat dispersal would be. Since I make food with mine, this is extra concerning. I had it turned on for only 15 minutes and the trays also felt extremely hot to touch. Couldn't hold my hand on them for over 3 seconds (and this isn't the case with my older model - even after being on for over 12 hours). Considering it wasn't defective or broken per say - it's just made cheaply and poorly - I expect a replacement would be the same.

Not packaged securely which made the trays bent and not able to straighten.
I was happy to receive my dehydrator but was shocked when the package was in it's original box without packing material and the original product box was not in an extra box for protection. The inside trays were all bent and not able to straighten, it still works but unhappy how bent the trays are making it difficult to place food on.
