Excellent Quality and Value.
I wasn't sure about how well a 2 piece rail system would work especially with a solid core heavy door. However this kit is better than I expected it would be as it can handle up to 150 lbs without issue. If you're really concerned you can upgrade to the Classic or Designer series which can handle 220 lbs and up to 400 lbs respectively. This builder version offers a good balance between price and performance. I think it is a very good kit and will likely work fine for most situations. If you need a finish other than matte black, like a satin nickel or brushed gold then you will have to go with the other series. If you want a 1 piece track then you will need to go with the Designer series. I like that the kit also includes the floor bracket for a mortised groove in the bottom of the door and the double bracket that holds the door from both bottom edges. The mortise version will keep door scratching to a minimum as well as be the most concealed. It is a little more involved to install however and your door bottom will need to be mortised. Smoothly operating and well constructed. 5 stars for being an excellent value.

Excellent quality
This is our second barn door, the quality is excellent. This is a nice clean look, no frills, simple design and very sturdy. This one is being used in a hallway where too many doors open into each other. This is a great solution without tearing out walls. It’s simple to hang, all you need is a solid slab door. We used a door about 6 inches wider then our opening for good coverage, there is always a small space between the door and the wall, so a wider door makes up for that gap and you can’t see in coming down the hall. National Hardware makes very good quality items, we also got a handle from them and it’s beautiful. Now, all I need is my slab door that’s been on back order for over a month! I’ll post pictures when I get it hung.

For any level of skill
Whatever lived in my house before me modified it so much that , traditional items like a door, a window, or even a light switch couldnt be installed. For some reason there was no bathroom door. Nor was there any room to put one in. Fortunately the 1st Century Romans invented the sliding door! Or was it 1970's Star Trek? This door or at least the track was like a pleasant jigsaw puzzle that took me over a month to finish. I only realize now it could have taken me collectively 1 or 2 hours had I been able to locate a base board. Don't let the tons of washers and bolts overwhelm you. This thing as a snap. The hard part is choosing what kind of door to hang on there. I'm really frugal but I also hate my house so I took off a closet sliding door panel because I have too many closets and closet space. I probably could have used my mirrored closet door but I went with something super light weight. It provides all the visual privacy you need and no audible privacy and it slides like a dream. I love it.

Add a Barn Door for a Fraction of the Normal Price.
I wanted a barn door to separate the public side of the house from the bedrooms and other private areas. So, I priced getting a barn door and having it installed. Then I changed my mind and assumed I'd have to leave the two areas together. Until I found this hardware. Putting together a barn door is easy, even if you have marginal woodworking skills, like me. I got all the boards cut to length at a home improvement store, and used construction adhesive to put it together. Then I got some decorative nails and put them in the door in the spots where real construction nails would be. All this hardware put my fake barn door up on the wall, and with the help of a level, it came out terrific. I did need the help of my favorite husband, because of the weight of the door, but building it was easy.

Simple and sturdy
If you like the style of barn doors in your house and know how to use a few basic tools, a kit like this is quick and easy to install so you can feel like a TV DIY-er. You get a stylish, modern touch to your home for a small investment of money and time. The instructions are clear and easy to understand, and if you're not sure about a step, watch a couple online videos and you'll be back on track (pun maybe intended). Remember that this is the "basic" package, which means it only comes in black (you have to pay for an upgraded package to get other finishes), and "only" holds up to 150lbs (seriously, if your door weighs more than 150lbs, get a new door; you're not doing chin-ups on this thing). It moves smoothly, but there's no soft-close or other bells and whistles.

So excited!
I am so excited to get two barn doors up in our house finally. First, they are heavily made in a good way and well painted. The matte black looks warm and rustic with the pinewood we used on making the door. Everything you will need is in the kit except the door. We live in a home that is only 1500sq ft. Having more room without opened doors to our closet and the bathroom in our master has been wonderful.

Good Budget Barn Door Kit
Great looking basic kit with everything you need to put up a barn door except the door and a handle. Matte black finish feels premium and durable while maintaining a beautiful rustic farmhouse aesthetic. Wheels roll smoothly and quietly. This particular kit is made for doors up to 150 lbs. so check your door weight before ordering. The Classic or Designer kits will work with heavier doors and cost a bit more. Assembly is straightforward and DIY friendly if you are even a little handy. This kit is reasonably priced and an excellent value. National Hardware offers several more expensive premium versions, one that includes a soft-close feature. If budget permits, soft-close is amazing to have on barn doors that will be opened and closed frequently. This review will be updated if there are any long term durability issues with this barn door kit.
