Just what I needed, Our house was broke into before I even moved into it. Squatters found by my mother in law thank god they didn’t hurt her! Been taking precautions and putting up signs. Thank you!

Upping security
Put together easy. It's working so far. This is the 3rd lock on my door. Landlord placed a steel bars thing around our locks so the door lock cannot be pried open with a screwdriver, but; anyone nowadays can pick the lock. So... I know these chains are not perfect security but the advantage is the thief will have to; Kick the door in; bringing attention from neighbors or spend time trying to cut the locks; this makes noise and gives me time to get my 'equalizer' and other secret plan. The time it takes to cut 3 locks with big pliers or try to unscrew them makes the thief choose to move on; he might be caught when neighbors look out their door to see what the noise is. My horoscope says this year; break-ins, floods, fires, overflows, toxic fumes and theft. So I upped my security. Already got hacked on 2 computers so bad had to send in for repair. Then the tech turned out to be a illegal weapons, drug dealer and he stole my memory cards, didn't repair the 2 computers. One totally destroyed. Other I fixed myself as best can be and had to buy 2 new. Had to cancel my Amazon prime for 5 months due to this expense! (Will miss prime and will reapply; its fast shipping, love it.) I bought one of these locks years ago form different manufacturer. It broke after 8 months; lock wears out and key not work; your locked outside. Maybe this one will be better. I prefer to get 2 chains and pull them together and lock with a padlock; lasts as long as a good brand padlock. My other 2 locks are that way and had for 9 years.

a "Fix" for the slide pulling out easy on locked chain
For those with a chain pulling out while locked: SEE THE PHOTOS BELOW TO SEE WHERE TO FILE?DOWN/CUT OUT part of the slide section...( The slide was made TOO thick at the part where the inside mechanism is supposed to slot into it on locking. ) I got this because I realized that if needed, my peep hole thingy couldn't read an ID badge clearly, so with this... allows me to open the door some, and it's backup to the lock because you can't put a slide bolt on from outside. It's not going to stop a huge bolt cutter but few :bad guys" carry that around. I used to have nearly this exact model about 30 years ago but left it behind when I moved. Liked it then ,like it NOW! They improved the length of the screws for the frame side. ( More secure against a push.) Hint: Mount it about the middle height of the door. 1. There it will more balancing resist on any attempt to push top or bottom of door. 2. It will make it usable if you have young children that might use it. ( To insert the key from a comfortable angle. ) It's a bit tricky to decide where exactly to mount the key side because.... You want the door to not open TOO far, ( where an arm and elbow can undo the chain from outside ) but YOU need to easily slide up into the lock the part that goes INTO it when you leave.

Not made of brass
Someone tried breaking into my home and they just must have been slamming their body into the door bc when I looked part of the so called brass where one of the screws was holding it broke off! Oh and these locks all have the same key even the same as the people from Q and A who also sell the same lock but die cast. I can't believe this! Do all keyed chainlocks all have the same keys?! I've tried 3 and they sure do!

Can Be Locked & Unlocked From Outside
Interesting, it's not the original lock I ordered, this one you can unlock from outside, I was shipped this instead, mistake maybe? It's pretty cool, if someone tries to break in & the chain lock is in place, they possibly would think that someone was home & leave. Additionally, if someone tries to lock you out that way, sorry about their luck. Locks like this are only to keep honest people honest, a heavy pair of cutters would snap the chain & a hard kick or shoulder would break it open.

very secure
I had one of these on my door for over 20 years. It finally broke and I got another as a replacement. The chain is long enough to go over the top of the door molding and screws directly into the door frame itself making me feel very secure. I simply turn the key when I want to open the door and the chain drops out. Love it. Oh, I'm a single woman and installed this by myself with a manual screwdriver into existing holes. If the holes weren't already there from the last one, I probably would have had to use a power screwdriver or such.

Make sure package hasn’t been opened and screws removed
I like the fact that I can lock and unlock my room with the chain latched! I do however suggest that you really examine your package closely to be sure all the screws are there!

Works good for the price
This chain lock is used to add on my door for extra security because I do not want to open my door wide to solicitors and I want to prevent my son to run out on the street once he knows how to open the front door. I like that it was easy to install with a screw driver. Although I don't think it will proctect me.much if some big person kicks it really hard. The screws are small, thus easy for me to install, but the chain is strong. I like the key lock feature. For the price I cannot complain much.

Questionable Mounting Hardware - Pretty Useful
Updated Review: Still garbage mounting hardware & poor instructions. This resulted in destroying my handmade door frame. Once repaired, tried to install again sincce I had bought a pair, this time, with a different approach. The one way screw is annoying but I guess some clever crooks could unscrew the top screw and undo the whole apparatus... however, this could have been better made... not my job to engineer this. Make sure the one way screw goes on top, make sure you spot that screw before install and make sure it goes on top. I would recommend it now, considering you know what you are getting yourself into. I'm not a handyman and had no idea how to install this. The instructions are terrible if in my situation. Sold my soul for cheap garbage; just gained it back.

Vis de montage de faible qualité et de différentes longueurs. Aucune instruction ou gabarit pour les distances à respecter au montage. N'est pas conçu pour montage sur porte en acier sans quincaillerie adaptée. Les non bricoleurs s'abstenir.
