Recessively good

I’m now a HUGE fan of Moen’s hardware. They supply excellent mounting pieces and instructions, and the result is beautiful and stable! This could have had a bit more descriptive instrux, but I googled a YouTube installation video and was preempted from accidentally cutting too large a hole. It looks great and works as expected.

Looks Great

I'm sure there are many people with the issue of putting a toilet paper holder on the cabinet next to the toilet. We had the option of the cabinet or the wall across from the toilet. Reluctantly I cut a hole in the cabinet and installed this holder. It turned out great. It is more of an Ivory white, which is good for us. I cut a 5" hole not the 5 1/4" as suggested in the instructions and it worked fine. It did not have the spring installation thing that many of these show but that was actually better since I could install from the backside. The recessed holder is so much better than mounting a regular holder. I am very happy with the holder and the way it looks and operates.

It’s good quality, but it isn’t really made by Moen, it says made by Donner all over the box.

I was replacing my older recessed holder due to rust and scratches. This one replaced it easily. 2 screws and done. The only gripe I have is it’s not really Moen, it’s Donner. My older Moen made one was thicker and heavier. The screw holes are a little closer than my old Moen made one. But it only took 1 minute to make 1 new hole. Looks good and works good.

Strange installation

Haven’t installed yet but from what arrived it seems flimsy. The thin mounting bracket hugs the wall between itself and the TP holder with a small lip on the top and bottom. Doesn’t seem very secure but we’ll see what happens.

NOT WHITE but XL rolls DO FIT inside it!!

The photo of the product shows a brilliant white item. What I got was something darker than ivory but lighter than cream. If you want a brilliant white one? without spray painting it that color yourself as I am about to do? Then keep looking to find what you want!! Because this isn't white. THERE IS SOME GOOD NEWS, THOUGH!! THE EXTRA LARGE ROLLS OF EXTRA THICK TOILET PAPER DO ACTUALLY FIT INTO THIS RECESSED HOLDER WITH ROOM TO SPARE!

This comes without any documentation or template whatsoever.

I realize this is a very inexpensive part and it took me a few minutes to figure out how to install it, but a little instruction or even a cutting template would go a long way adding minimal cost to the product. Once I figured out how large to make the hole it was easy to just use a box-cutter to cut it into the sheet rock, making multiple scores until it was possible to remove the cut part. I partially installed the back-plate which acts as a clamp to hold the unit in the wall from inside. The screws have to be barely inserted to hold the back plate to the unit to keep the backplate from falling into the wall, and still be loose enough to allow the user to push it all the way, top and bottom, through the hole. I needed a log screw driver to help, being careful not to dent or scratch painted metal face. But once the back plate was all the way inside the wall it was a simple task to tighten the two screws to hold the unit in it's final position.

Looks Fine.

I just got mine today and it looks fine. It is more of an ivory color than white but it will work for me. People need to realize that Donner is a brand line that Moen sells, so yes it is a Moen product. I can maybe understand that there could be a problem with the screws going in because the backing plate is fairly thick so I think that I might just drill a couple of guide holes with a drill so I won't have a problem with the screws.

Don't expect the screws to work.

Looks ok. But the screws that come with the product is very weak. Especially it has to go through the mounting bracket behind the toilet paper holder. Mine were stripped when the metal from the mounting bracket caught the threads of the screws. So I ended up have to use other screws to properly install it.
