Perfect fix for Moen shower know shortcoming! But way overpriced!

My tile guy installed this Moen shower handle, not my favorite design but it would do. When the job was completed, the installation was not 100% aesthetically on! Instead of starting over and opening up the wall, this was the solution. For $80 which is FAR OVERPRICED but at this point, we needed to move on. Moen, shame on you for charging so much for something like this! Had the price been better, I would have given it 5 stars.

It solves the problem of the valve being out too far.

It works but with shipping and tax of almost 80 dollars, the price is outrageous. My plumber installed the valve out too far. But, this happens over and over with Moen valves for some reason. There is always debate as to who is at fault. It doesn't matter who is at fault. We, the customer need cost effective solutions. So if this happens to you and you have a 7 inch round escutcheon plate, it will work fine. You will just have to eat the cost. Less then ripping out the tile. So since it solved my problem I would give it a recommendation.

Highway robbery

I can't believe I had to purchase this to make my shower knob look more normal. Does it work? Yes. Does it look good? Yes. Is it overpriced? YES! This extension cost more than twice the entire trim kit purchase price. If you look at other manufacturers, only Moen seems to sell their extensions for an absurd price. If I didn't have to open up drywall, I would rather have replaced the entire control assembly than pay for this piece. However, I paid the price for the convenience and most likely you will too (or put your old trim kit back on). Also, depending on how old your house is and how far forward the assembly is, even this extension won't completely close the gab between the knob and the trim. I'd also recommend caulking it in place as tightening the screws on the trim kit to form a water-resistant seal will most likely bring your assembly closer to the tub wall and jutting the knob out even further.

They know what they're doing...

You'll get it. It will fix things. It will cost at least twice what the trim kit did. Moen knows what they're doing. It's a common issue...but they know what they can charge for this thing - and you'll pay it! Demand dictates price here. Supply is clearly fine. If you complain, they'll hook you up with a steep discount to get more Moen since you're now "buying for life." I'm a sap.

Poor solution to fix the 1/2” gap in handle

Installed Moen shower valve, per instructions which puts the valve too far forward. Once the 1/2” board then tile is installed, then comes the ascusion and handle. Well the handle sticks out 1/2” you can see the screws. It is sloppy. Called Morn & they said that the instructions are correct & handle sticks out 1/2”, but suggested this ascusion ring to fil in the gap. It is not nice looking. Used this same setup in another bathroom but had acces to the wall to reposition the value back further in the wall & that handle looks so much nicer. Just something to consider.

Fixed handle gap

Updated my shower handle with the MOEN T2151 Brantford trim kit, but that left an excessive gap at the handle base. This easy to install ring helped to reduce that unsightly gap and though there's still some space left it's to a more visually pleasing level. It's an extremely pricey item, but fortunately I was able to secure an used like new one at a reduced cost.

Works but overpriced

Picture shows the Moen escutcheon extension 162 together with the Moen 1 inch handle extension 96945. The escutcheon extension is chrome not plastic. You need longer screws which are not included. You can use screws from the handle extension kit. It does the trick but it's ridiculously overpriced.

5" Single Handle Shower Escutcheon Extension Finish: Chrome Moen

This has a nice finish that matches the chrome on the regular escutcheon, the faucet, and the faucet handle. It moves the regular escutcheon forward 1/2 inch so that the faucet handle is closer to the escutcheon.
