Love Mikasa products - this is not gold.
Mikasa makes durable and lovely products. The glasses are nice to hold. Feel sturdy. Designs are lovely. There is nothing gold about these glass designs. Color is a gold -yellow. Matte. Hard to see in picture. Keeping because may be easier to wash and use unlike the metallic gold ones we are replacing. Company needs to write a better description to avoid that one issue. Pretty still but definitely not gold.

Even Better In Person!
I like the size of a double old fashioned glass. And I grew up in the 70s. Combine those two things, and this set of glasses is perfect for me. I am well aware that these are marketed as art deco, but for me they evoke everything that I remember about the 70s. The style, the color, even the shape of the glass and the ratio of the weighted base to the rest of it, all scream 70s to me. And that makes me extraordinarily happy. They feel wonderful in hand, and are wide enough for me to put my giant square ice cubes in. That also makes me happy, because I like to drop one big ice cube in, add a few ounces of rye, and sit down to enjoy crappy television. As much as I love them, I actually was going to dock them one star because at the time I received them the Amazon listing did not say if they were dishwasher-safe or not, and there was no indication in the packaging. Because they were provided to me to test, I decided to take the risk and throw them through the dishwasher anyway. I’ve subsequently found out that they are NOT dishwasher-safe, but they also suffered no danger damage when I washed them. So I’m not going to dock a star; in fact they get bonus points for being tough. Bottom line is, they look fantastic, feel fantastic, and seem to be pretty durable. Total winners.

I received these glasses to try and review. I would expect Mikasa stuff to be of high quality, but these glass are fantastic. What's in the box?: You receive 4 glasses. These are well designed and fell substantial. They are about 6.5 inches tall and are taller than expected from the pictures. The base is also quite more robust then expected from the pictures. Aesthetic?: A plus! The design is art deco and each glass has its own unique design. These look straight out of the twenties to my eye, they hit the art deco aura very well. The gold is not pure gold in color, but a little patina to the hue, so these look far more expensive and not cheap at all (the gold color isn't garish). Use?: Love it. These are terrific highball glasses. Once you remove the Mikasa sticker (and I presume wash), these are ready to go. These are not thin, so you don't have an issue with ice 'sweating' through the glass as you enjoy whatever libation floats your boat. Overall?: Absolutely beautiful. These are a pleasure to drink from and use. A seriously winner. The price point is well in line for the high quality glasses these are. Recommended!

Typical Mikasa quality, with just one little flaw! Nearly perfect!
I’ve grown up with the Mikasa brand ingrained in my mind. My mother was a frequent shopper of the brand, so I always knew that Mikasa was synonymous with quality and delicate beauty. Also, ‘don’t touch!’ So it was not at all your every day beverage glasses. Most were solely for special occasions. These kind of bring what I remember of the Mikasa brand to a happy medium. These aren’t those ONLY for cocktails flutes and wine glasses, but they are more pricey and of higher quality than your typical drinking glass. These look great in the bar area for cocktails yes, but they can hold other beverages. Do I trust my particular kids? No. But if I lived alone, I wouldn’t just save these for special occasions. Here comes the only gripe I have here with this product. The glasses are very pretty, but they do seem to look a wee bit more orangey-colored than they do gold. These look more gold-colored, which is a tad more luxurious, in the photo, but it’s nothing huge. I mean, these still do make a lovely gift, and they are of top quality, just like other Mikasa items that we own. I’d still order them.. yes, but it’s best to know going in so you don’t get too shocked if your heart was set on like a less vibrant, more subtle and classy metallic gold color vs. a more orange appearing color, at least to me and my husband’s eyes, or before gifting, it’s best to know prior. That’s it! Aside from that, I have no complaints about these lovely looking glasses. They hold a lot of drink, a solid 13 ounces, which is great for a variety of cocktails and other beverages, not solely of alcohol-based origin. I personally like the more robust size. You don’t need to get up for a refill as often :). They are thick, they feel sturdy and well made. Definitely, typical of Mikasa’s brand, which is a very good thing to make note of. I just wish that the paint was more 14k gold looking and a tad more alluring to the eye, to capture the true vintage look. But again, they are very beautiful, regardless. Just something to be aware of prior to purchase. It’s not a dealbreaker for me. I adore the brand. We adore the glasses. With that said, I would recommend this product, and I do find these a deserving, giftable product for family or friends.

Pretty, quality glasses
The Mikasa Art Deco 16-Ounce Highball Glasses, Set Of 4, Gold are very pretty. The designs are all different which makes it easy to know which one is yours at a glance. The glass is high quality with a sturdy feel in your hand yet the glass is thin and lightweight. The Mikasa quality shines through with these glasses. They are dishwasher safe. I will be looking to see if they offer other size glasses in this design though they look nice when mixed with clear glasses on a table. Nice upgrade and would also make a nice gift.

My favorite !!!
These Old Fashioned glasses are my absolute favorite. I use them all the time for mixed drinks and iced tea. They are beautiful. The art deco design is different on each glass. The color is more of a yellow orange color than the gold in the description. These glasses are timeless. Hand wash only, so you don't damage the design.
