Very light

I ordered the light model and it may say light on it but it is definitely ultra-light. In my case this is actually a good thing because I use this exclusively on my kayak and always want an ultra-light rod for pan fish. It was very inexpensive so when pared with an inexpensive reel I have a decent panfish rod that won't cause major depression if it falls overboard. Any kayak fisherman knows that it is a matter if when, not if you will lose a rod. It does the trick for me and I will take it everytime I go. I also like shorter rods on a kayak because they have a little more clearance when paddling near the shore with trees and brush.

says it’s 1 piece but my 5 foot ultralight is 2 pc. luckily that’s what I prefer but just in case someone wouldn’t want that now you know

OK , but...

When I received the package, one of the metal rings was missing from a guide. I found it loose in the packing box. It was easy enough to re install it,but why should I have to? I put a drop of super glue on all the eyelets just for good measure. Other than that, it seems well suited for the micro reel I installed on it. For the money, it's not bad.

what a nice little, senstive rod ...

One of the categories is "Durability" It's graphite so gotta be careful, it ain't no Ugly Stick ! Most likely one of my most sensitive lite rods in my 16 plus rod arsenal. This will make a super addition to stream Brookies and Perch -n-Gills :) Can't wait... I'm using an ultra lit spinning reel with light braid with a 2' 6# copolimar leader. That's the way to cast a good distance.

very brittle

the tips are very brittle mine came with the tip of the rod splinterd and it broke while stringing it i've had both good and bad luck with this rod , one i bought years ago is still in use today others broke for no good reason; bad lot? maybe i'll just keep returning them till i get a good one!

Read Questions and Answers Before You Buy

Love the rod, but, should have read the Q & A's..I thought it was a break down rod, 2 pieces, but not so. On Packaging, the rod was is a long box, but there was no packing at all. Just a rod rambling around without any protection. Luckily it was not damaged or broken eyes.

Easy to break the top section of the rod.

I am not satisfied with the product I received. On the first day using this rod, the top section snapped into 3 pieces after less than 10 casts. The rod I had did not stand up snagged lures, it broke easily after being caught on a small twig in the water. I didn’t even pull hard on the twig and it shattered. I am very careful with my fishing rods and this is the first time a rod has broken like this. For a cheaper rod it may be worth your money but you need to be careful when using the rod.

Great quality on a budget

The media could not be loaded. Very good quality UL rod on budget. The Shakespear brand always makes quality long lasting material and this rod doesn’t disappoint. If you are looking for the most flexible and bendable UL rod out there this micro series is the one. At 7”6” feet this rod bends on a rock bass like if you have a massive musky on your line. Maybe a bit too flexible for my taste though. It came in a large box, very well protected. It is the first time they ship a rod with a large piece of cardboard glued around the end tip to protect it from breaking. Unfortunately I had to return because the rod came in 1 month late and I bought another one instead. Still, this rod is unbeatable for it’s price. You just need to take extra care of it because of the fine tip that is easily breakable.

Poor quality

The rod itself is great to use, but so easy to break. 1st I received was broken in the package, and I returned it, they sent me a new one that I used fore a couple hours and broke very easily.... Im very disappointed and not recommend this rod
