cute, but the first one wouldn't work

ITs really really difficult to insert batteries, kind of like the proverbial "getting into Ft. Knox"...we are the grandparents of a kiddo who loves this...my husband had trouble with the battery compartment...its close to impossible and he can fix anything...my daughter also had trouble, and she is used to messing with kid's toys. I understand we don't want the kids to access/eat the batteries, but this is crazy hard for even adults. The quality of the flashlight is good and the grandson LOVES it, but wow - look out when the batteries die! I did return the first one, and the second one does work fine. Thank you AMAZON

So Much Yes!

Couple of things… for one the batter is like impossible for a toddler to get to. Great job there! It’s a fun flashlight that’s bright enough but not too bright. My toddler was scared of the dark but now he wants the lights off so “caterpillar can help is see”! Absolutely a winner! (Also very durable!)

This light is great, even for small toddlers

My young child has taken an interest in lights lately as they're starting to explore the world. I purchased this flashlight because it doesn't have any bells and whistles to it. I didn't want a flashlight that has electronic sounds, extra light up buttons, etc. This light is great, even for my 1.5 year old. The on/off button is easy to push, the light is easy to hold, and I can confirm it can survive being bashed, dropped, or thrown. I'd highly recommend this light to others who have kids at the exploring and adventuring stage.

Best gift for child who loves lamps and The Hungry Caterpillar!

This flashlight was a hit! I gave it to my friend's son. He is 3 years old and loves lamps and The Hungry Caterpillar. He found a space on the bookshelf for his "Bug" to live. He asks for it each day and walks around lighting up the house. It's adorable. This is a sturdy flashlight. It takes 2 AA batteries (not included). The battery installation will require a small screw driver. The button is easy for a child to turn off and on.

Broken but fixable on arrival

The flashlight is cheap and the construction is acceptable for the price. I ordered two and one was broken on arrival. The battery compartments are poorly sized and prevent the battery from making contact. I solved this by forcing it. In addition the contact for the light was broken out of it's plastic casing and had to be bent with plyers back into place before the light would function. The other one I ordered was fine although the contacts are finicky and it has to be twisted just right in order to work. I would not purchase these again but they're good enough for the price. Pretty cute though.

Easy to use

Bought 2 for grandkids ages 2 and 4. Both love it. Easy to use and light is right brightness so doesn’t hurt eyes but can use in dark for fun.

Best flashlight for young children

My toddler was starting to express a fear of the dark. We got this for him in the hopes he’d sleep better knowing he had a light nearby. The button works very smoothly and is easy to operate with little baby hands. There are also no worries of my son ever accessing the batteries without adult assistance. You have to use a screwdriver to take out a screw, untwist the top - while holding down a lever - and then use the screwdriver AGAIN to get to the battery compartment. SUPER safe for children. Overall, very pleased. We’ve ordered two because the dog got a hold of the first one. ???? it’s not dog-proof.
