Highly recommended for ankle sprains.
If you can’t afford a $1k+ chilled water wrap that the physical therapist uses then this is for you. This wrap really worked when I severely sprained my ankle. Compression with an ice pack on both sides worked amazingly well. I do not regret this purchase. I highly recommend this product.

Product leaked
The product leaked, leaving it to be useless. Also, no instructions on how to use it. Not that it’s terribly complicated, but it would have been nice to have some material explaining the optimal use. Regardless, I returned it.

Not what I expected
Can barely fit the ice packs into the holes. The pack doesn’t fully for around the ankle. And it leaks.

well made, just not sure how much of an improvement over existing methods this is.
Innovative idea, but a few holes in execution. Product certainly made well enough; quality materials, appears to be durable. Intent is to get ice on the ankle, and this it does well, using two ice reservoirs incorporated into the device. First thing I noted is that the reservoirs require some effort to get in and out of the brace. You can fill them in place if you need to; crushed ice definitely works best. Second, there is not a lot of room for the reservoirs, so when you put the brace on, it's a bit bulky, and you might not get a real tight wrap with the compression material. So, while the product delivers, I'm not sure for the money spent it's a significant improvement over the old ice bag and ACE bandage.

Smaller ice cubes or crushed ice will contour better. Made in China.
The round “caps” you see in the pictures are indeed the part that you unscrew to place the ice inside. Smaller cubes or crushed ice would be best to contour around the ankle better. This sleeve is held in place with Velcro straps. It works on either ankle. Easy to use and easy to apply. I think it’s actually a bit “bulkier” in person. Also, as the ice melts, you’ll probably want to keep adjusting it to make it tighter. This item is Made in China.

Benefits outweigh the con (the bulkiness).
I love the concept of the McDavid True Ice Therapy Ankle Wrap. This is my second McDavid product (that I received for an honest review), I was also lucky enough to receive the Knee/Leg wrap too. Both of these items offer relief from sports injuries. It is soft, easy to adjust and includes ice packs in its design. There are two velcro straps that allow you to adjust the wrap around your ankle and lower calf. The biggest benefit is that you have a wrap and ice pack all in one handy device. Like the knee/leg wrap, you have to be careful when setting up the ice reservoirs. I found that using regular cubes makes it a little bulky and difficult to deal with, but using crushed ice and not filling it up all the way, makes it easier to set up and wear. I’d definitely recommend this ankle wrap for people who have (sports) injuries.

A Lifesaver
My granddaughter participates in many sports that include, karate, gymnastics, cheer and soccer. We used this for a sprained ankle. It was successful, even though it was a bit heavy for her foot. We propped them up on a chair and it was just fine. Myself, attempted to wear a pair of 4 inch heels, feel and also hurt my ankle. It words just fine. A word of caution, I used ice from the freezer and it was more of a problem than anything. I put the ice in the blender to cut it down a bit and that worked much better. Note that the cubed ice is bulky and sometimes inconvenient, but it lasts longer than the chipped ice. It's very odd looking, but works none the less.

Combining a secure icing bag with a compression wrap is absolutely brilliant! And effective.
Some products seem so natural and obvious that after seeing them you ask yourself why didn't I think of that; like adding wheels to luggage instead of lugging a ton of weight around a busy airport. Icing is, of course, the recommended advice for most strains and muscle injuries to calm inflammation. I've always used various gel packs applied in a stationary position or tried to awkwardly strap them on with flexible bandage wrap These Mcdavid packs enable both compression and icing in a brilliant, easy to use design. You simply unscrew the top and the icepack part can be pushed out of the elastic surrounding it. Add ice to the bag, reinsert into the wrap and tighten the gas cap-looking lid. The two parts meld securely with it's fine threads and silicone seal to prevent leakage as the ice cubes melt. This wrap has 2 ice bags to hit both sides of the ankle. The wrap is held in place with the standard velcro. Comes in a sturdy box with a sleeve that slides over it to keep the contents protected inside for storage when not in use. As I get older, it seems I regularly need to be icing my lower back or knee or elbow or wrist from an overly aggressive workout or just fatigue at work. There are packs designed for each of those areas. They do take up some space for storage when not in use, but these wraps are absolutely brilliant. Highly recommended.

Security Tag attached, can't be removed. Really bad experience when help was needed.
Very disappointed. It arrived with a shoplifting security tag attached (which I can't remove). I didn't appear to be a new product. With a broken ankle, I can't even return it. At least the ice bags were removable so I will use them but they were VERY expensive icebags! Will never buy from this seller again.
