Excellent blade balancer
Very good blade balancer it is very sensitive for balancing the blade and that’s a good thing. It minimize my vibration on my John Deere tractor.

Most accurate, minimal learning curve
I've used other balancers that were cheaper, and the old adage, "you get what you pay for" is true! I re-sharpen and balance three to four sets of three blades each summer. This balancer has paid for itself after the first summer. I screwed the balancer to a 2x4 on the inside of my barn where the upright belt grinder is located. I had to add a few washers to bubble balance the balancer against the 2x4 so as to guarantee the blade would spine freely. My mower deck came with the three blades already factory installed. I couldn't believe the vibration! After rebalancing the blades with this tool, the vibration completely disappeared! I also wire wheel the entire blade to get the accumulated grass off before sharpening. No sense in balancing caked on grass. I also put a light coat of spray paint to the sharpened cutting edge to prevent rusting of the bare metal since the extra blades "will" rust in the damp Florida air while waiting for their turn to cut grass.

Super sensitive
Quality seems very good, half the price of others

It's a Tecomec brand
I'm returning the first one I purchased because it appeared to be one that was returned. The finish of the cone looked like it had a blade mounting center hole mark on it. I asked for a replacement and it should arrive today. Tecomec ships it in a box with Max Powers number on it. It also includes a Tecomec instruction sheet. Tecomec is an Italian brand and they probably make most of these type of balancers for Oregon and Max Power. It arrives in a sealed box but I suggest that Tecomec needs to secure the tool with better packing materials as it is only wrapped with a small amount of paper similar to butcher's wrap.

Balancer is slightly out if balance
I just received the Blade balancer today. I manually held it so the spool is horizontal. With no Blade, I spin the assembly and it stops in nearly the same place 8 out of 10 times. So it does appear the balancer itself is not perfectly balanced. The bearings also sound a little crunchy. Update: Over the weekend, I balanced an Honda HR-214 Mower Blade. I had previously balance it using the edge if a razor blade in the center hole. Turns out, the Blade was significantly out of balance. Ground down the Blade until it showed balanced on the MaxPower. Installed on the Mower and cut the grass. The mower was so much smoother in regards of vibration, it was a joy to use. The only drawback with the balancer is how easily the balance is affected. Grinding just a tiny amount off the blade can make a huge difference. I think the magnets could be weaker as it's difficult to break the blade loose. I have the balancer mounted to the trim around the garage. If there is a slight breeze, the Blade spins like a propeller - LOL. I have 1 screw securing it so after I'm done with it, I unscrew it and put it away. Update 2: Tried to "balance" the balancer and found that a small paperclip added to the light side seemed to get it really close. So I'm going to guess the small imbalance will have little to no effect with a blade mounted. I also looked at the bearing I could see and it's a 608. It would be interesting to replace the bearings with ceramic bearings. I'm raising my review to 5 stars. If I was in the blade sharpening business, I would spend the extra coin for the Mag-1000.

Balances blades with precision.
Although somewhat expensive, this item works well. It is very sturdy and well made. The magnets are very strong (maybe a bit too strong). I have used other systems that were less expensive, but did not seem to work as well. Maybe operator error there. This system really works to get the blades perfectly balanced. I was having some issue with my mower deck seeming to vibrate more than it should. I sharpened the blades first, then balanced them. They were quite a bit out of balance according to this. The first time you use it expect to spend some time getting the blades in spec. I am hoping that from now on I can keep them more closely balanced by making the same number of passes on the grinder on each side, then fine tuning as needed. I use the Oregon 88-023 grinder for the blades. An expensive setup, but I have a large yard that always seems to have sticks and such to dull the blades. I would recommend this for anyone that sharpens blades fairly often, especially if you are in the lawn care business.

damaged before shipping
Packaging was sealed and undamaged. The bottom surface of the balancer was damaged with some surface areas missing. I believe this is merely cosmetic and will not affect the accuracy of the tool. However, the stylus intended to be used to check for blade straightness is missing, The bolt for the clamping mechanism is bent and probably useless. I would at least like to have that part of the tool replaced.

Item was previously used.
Very disappointed with this purchase. Item was definitely used as you can see by the scrape marks on the black surfaces. When rotating the bearing is making a clicking noise and won't rotate properly. Also the packaging was very poor. Allowed item to be tossed around while being shipped. Obviously nobody checked this item out prior to being shipped. Not happy as I waited long enough for this item and now I have to return. I will reorder, probably from a different supplier.

Un Balanced tool !
Bearings stick and magnets are uneven in weight and balancer always stops in the same position without a blade on it when you spin it ..... I returned back and got a refund .....

A must have shop tool
It can be a bit confusing at times to find balance with this tool but overall I won’t sharpen a blade now without using this balancer.
