I love wearing this mask because it's comfortable and blocks light well (not around the bridge of the nose if you have an English nose), I've purchased a dozen over the past 5 years, replacing them whenever the fabric separates, some have lasted longer than others. I wear one every night and after many dermatology appointments, even an urgent care visit due to extreme skin allergy on my eyes lids and change of soaps and shampoos and laundry detergent to everything possible that's chemical free and using prescription topical medicine and oral medicines to treat the allergy, I've lost a lot of eyelid skin from the peeling and itching, and constant irritation and discomfort, not wearing any makeup, no perfumes, and I still get this allergy. It took me this long to realize that the mask is causing this eyelid skin allergy (WOW!!). I don't know if it's a chemical or the fabric but I have tested it several times now... When I don't wear the eye mask for about a week, the allergy goes away. A few days after I've started to wear the eye mask again the allergy returns. When it's really bad, like before, my eyelids bleed and get infected and the skin flakes off all day and night. When I wake up, my mask is never on my face, I assume turning over in my sleep side to side causes the mask to slide off and may end up on the floor or behind the mattress even when fitted properly. I too have experienced the dye bleeding into my pillowcases. I learned to wash the mask before the first time wear. All this to say, if you get a skin allergy on your face, forehead, eyelids and you never had it before wearing this mask, don't make the huge error I did by thinking the allergy was caused by food or skin care products, hair care products, stress, or makeup... it's the mask. All the brands look the same as this contoured mask these days, but all have the same complaints. Currently, I've stopped wearing the mask and have a hard time falling asleep without it, but I'm trying to clear up this latest allergy outbreak and not wearing it anymore. I wish I could find one I'm not allergic to. By the way, I have no other known allergies. I wish I knew what of the mask causes the allergy, maybe a chemical used in China to make the mask shinny, or the dyes. I'm wondering if I placed a wash cloth between the mask and my eyes if I could use my favorite mask without getting the topical allergy on my eyelids, something to try after my eyes heal.
