Be Careful
The parts aren’t labeled. There is a video on YouTube that shows you how to assemble the composter. It leaves out steps. There are written instructions that are very confusing. You need both the video AND the written instructions. Make sure the air vents on the end are aligned before you tighten the screws or you won’t be able to put the door on. Once you get it together correctly, it’s nice.

Great Composter
We ordered this through amazon due to free shipping. The manufacturer had it for the same price but added around $40 shipping. That decision cost us about a weeks time. We met the UPS delivery vehicle and upon seeing the box we knew it had been opened. The staples that close the top were missing and it had been taped closed with clear tape. The wheels were missing and parts of the frame were missing. As those would have been difficult to fall out on their own, it was obvious to us that someone had taken them out. Not pleased. We called the manufacturer and they were very responsive, sending us the missing parts for free. As to the unit itself; this one replaces one we purchased back in 1998. The old one was finally falling apart. We liked the old one and that's why we went with this one. It is very close to the old one with a few slight changes. The new door latch is an improvement (we hope). The old door could (and sometimes did) open when being turned when there was a lot of compost in it. One change I'm concerned about is the door hinge is now plastic where the old one was steel. I have a feeling it's not going to last as long. Mantis recently bought the company that made the old version we had. I don't know if some of the changes are theirs or if the original company had made the changes over the years. Bottom line, we loved the old one and are looking forward to years of compost from this one. One of the complaints others have made is that the pre-drilled holes for the screws are too small and need to be drilled out more. That is a valid complaint. I didn't have much trouble putting it together but I did have to drill out the holes some. Overall, a good product and if this one lasts as long as the other one, we'll be getting another one in 15-20 years. P.S. I frequently get a review request from amazon about shipping. I was looking forward to getting one this time and it didn't come. I think I know why.

Meh!
The price of this model isn’t justified by the quality. The plastic knobs break off easily. I bought a unit, showed up with to many broken screw knobs and one broke key hinge. They replaced the whole unit . Second showed up, had busted off screw knobs as well. Fortunately I was able to build one unit out of both busted units. Mantis makes an 88 gallon metal composter that is far superior to this cheap yet expensive model. Buyer beware

Mantis composter
This is the second one I have purchased. The first lasted 15 years. The base is lightweight and rusts out rather quickly. We propped it up to use until everything rusted away. I was a bit disappointed with the second one…I will keep because it is easy to use and doesn’t smell when in use. The frame was low quality and the door hinge was already broken when it shipped. Waiting to see if the company will respond and send me a replacement door.

Its a little more difficult to use than I thought
I had a larger old style tumbler which was taller and had a crank handle. it was easy to load and remove compost. Even though I'm satisfied with this product, it is harder to load and remove compost than my old tumbler. In addition, having to turn this one by hand can be difficult if its loaded pretty full. BUT, if it suits your needs I would not recommend against it. Thanks

Incredibly difficult to put together; terrible customer service
I was very excited to get this composter. Unfortunately, putting it together was a complete nightmare. Attaching the sides to the drum was a major workout for my arms. I basically had to force each screw in. I ended up taking breaks because it made my arms sore. I was so happy when all I had left to do was put two plastic tubes over the screws attaching the drum to the handle. Until I realized the plastic tubes were longer than the screws and thus could not be secured with a nut and washer. Irritated I called the company and asked if they could send me new tubes (official name is axis bushings) was told it wouldn’t be a problem. Then the back and forth between me and “Kyle” began online. He kept insisting that he needed the serial number from the box. But my SO had already thrown out said box. Then I was informed it was on the black handle. After examining the handle thoroughly I came up empty handed. Customer service said not to worry Kyle would be sending us new axis tubes nonetheless. Instead I received yet another email from Kyle asking for the serial number. This time I spoke to a customer service rep who informed me the number was actually on a sticker on the handle and it often falls off in box (keep in mind the box had been recycled already). She told me don’t worry I’m going to escalate this to Angel and he’ll get the job done. About a week later I receive a package in mail containing one not two of the axis bushings. Sighing I thought at least I can get one of them installed and call the company on Monday. But nope, this tube is also too long. I remember that I have a scissor type thing for cutting wire so I decide I’m going to try snipping the tube and it works! I’m a genius I think. Then I realize that the composter tubes resemble the tube my dog poop bags go around so I grab one of those and it fits as well! Just needs to snipped so it so it is a little shorter. So now my expensive composter is hobbled together with a tube for poop bags. It would be funny if it wasn’t such a waste of time. Seriously just make your own composter. It will be a lot easier.

I love this composted! I've had others but this one is by far the best.
It had clear instructions on how to put together but I think I made it more complicated than I should have. After I finally put it together I thought how did I not know this. But it might have been easier if the end of each middle section had been marked A B C and then matched up to end pieces that were marked A B C. Anyway it is really wonderful to use.
