Fit the old temporal valve perfectly
replace the old valve without a problem relatively easy to change when you're changing this check your lever to make sure it hasn't broken loose from the handle which turned out to be my problem and not the actual valve

Be aware that the size of this item is slightly larger than the original one
I bought this item even after reading some other reviews that people complained about the size mismatch. Unfortunately it happened to me too. The back end of this item is a bit larger than the original one and I was not able to push it in all the way. So I did the same as others suggested: take off the new O-ring from this item and replace it to the old spindle (thankfully after reading the reviews I took the old spindle out carefully enough not to break it!). The trick seems to resolve the leak problem, but it would have been nicer to use the new spindle as well.

Factory replacement
Five star for the fast delivery and for a factory replacement part that works.

Upgraded Part
In this kit the insert for the spindle that mates the stem to the spindle is thick brass, my original is plastic which was starting to crack. FWIW, this spindle is "off" in the middle as opposed to the old one which was "sorta both" in the middle. A 5/16" tap is really good tool to pull out the old spindle. Because a tap cuts threads as it goes in, it doesn't cause the spindle to expand, which would make it harder to pull out. The old spindle won't be damaged this way, so it could be reused given a new O ring... Purchaser's Spouse

Good for tub & shower valve.
The 25A is for tub and shower function. 25B is shower only.

You might need two... or a bigger donut washer
FYI, replace this part every few years or it will turn to a crumbling mess that has to be dug out in pieces--no bueno! If your setup is older, like mine, even a new spindle might not seal well anymore--and you'll really want this sucker to seal well because it'll be a slow, constant drip into your wall in most cases. I learned that a trick is to add another donut washer in the adjacent groove to make a double seal, so I bought an additional spindle and took the washer off that one, eliminating the almost imperceptible weeping drip that kept my wall moist. Eventually, I'll probably have to go hunting for a thicker donut washer, but for now this works.

green crusties may make it hard to remove the old one. use a 5/16 lag bolt and a slide hammer.
also clean the valve bore as well as possible before inserting the new one.
