Hard to find a toy grade rc crawler that is any better then this for under 40 dollars. Tires are very soft and wide allowing it to climb over large objects. Stock battery is kind of weak at only 6.4 volts and 500 mah and unfortunately the battery compartment is rather small not allowing placement of larger nIcd batteries without cutting and grinding down the chamber. Since I didn't pay much for it and didn't particularly care about looks, I simply added an extension to the mini connector and used Velcro to tape a battery on the hood and Velcro taped the stock battery on the roof to have two batteries ready to go on the run. A 7.2 nIcd battery has a little more punch and stays within a relative safe voltage range for the esc to handle. No problems at all with it so far. I also water proofed the esc/receiver/servo combo with some liquid tape and I have ran it though high snow banks and completely submerged in water with no problems after the mod. Do not recommend doing it before doing your own water proofing though that's for sure. Nothing is factory coated. The bad parts of the truck are not really worth even getting into simply because it is toy grade and cheap, but it does not have proportional steering or throttle. It also has a rather weak servo which makes it turn like a bus. You can do rubber band mods to make it better but it's never going to feel like a real hobby grade rc. It also has a tendency to flip backwards when a climbing objects, extra weight in the front might compensate for some of it. But again for what it is, it is a terrific vehicle. The only vehicle that is toy grade that I have liked more is the original rock crawler design but with 280 motors instead of 130s. Still, a great crawler for the price and I still drive this thing all the time even after buying several hobby grade vehicles.

A Great Starter

I've been happy with this purchase and it keeps the kiddos entertained. The good: Customer service for this car has been great. The first one arrived with an issue, and it was easy to get on here and arrange for a replacement. This rock crawler will literally crawl over most anything. I've gone over most of the kids toys laying in the living room. I've gone over six inch tall garden rocks. It'll go just about anywhere, especially with the all wheel drive. The radio has good range; I've gone well over 100 feet with it with no issues. The battery has good reserve; I've used it 30-45 minutes multiple times on a single charge. It just depends on how often I'm running it at max speed. It seems like it's built to take a beating with the break-away cover. It even comes with replacement clips for the cover. The bad: As stated earlier, the first one I received didn't steer correctly right out of the box. As in, it wasn't an adjustment issue but rather that sometimes the radio would not engage the steering in the car. But, it was easy to exchange so only a few days were lost. The only other issue I see that doesn't really come up is that it's fairly slow. I probably should've seen this coming since its a 'rock crawler' and therefore torqued as such, but I'm pretty sure the Tyco models I had as a kid were faster. I'd put its max at around 10 mph. All in all, for the price I think this is a great purchase for anyone looking to start into RC cars, especially with their kids as I think this model is pretty forgiving. It's certainly been fun to play with.

Fun to use, but vulnerable replacement parts unavailable

I purchased two of these as Christmas gifts for my twin grandsons in October, and one of them broke (plastic drive axle snapped during normal use after a few days). The front wheel fell off, and I was unable to find a replacement part for it, and it can't be glued together. The other vehicle has had no problems, and mechanically they are really quite nice and fun for all of us to use. I just ordered another vehicle to replace the broken one (price dropped to just under $40 - nice). I hope we have better luck with this one. Update: I just used a 6-32 one inch long screw to replace the existing shorter screw that holds the wheel on. I used the screw to make new threads into the drive axle (I didn't have to buy a tap to make the threads since I was screwing into plastic). The screw goes all the way through the center of the plastic outer axle into the interior half of the broken drive axle.In order to do this repair you will have to disassemble the lower housing (about six screws), but when you are through you will have a metal screw that goes all the way to the drive mechanism...wish that Maisto used a longer screw so that the plastic axle couldn't break at this vulnerable spot. Corrected update: I used 8-32 screws, not 6-32 screws. I have replaced the other front drive screws that hold the wheels on with longer (3/4 inch long 8-32's - long enough, I hope, to support the vulnerable plastic axle. The original screws are only 1/2 inch long and have a unique thread. Hopefully, this will prevent the other front wheels from falling off. The rear wheels don't appear to be vulnerable, so I haven't done anything to them.

Súper decepcionante

Súper decepcionante, este vehículo fue un regalo de cumpleaños que compre con mucha anticipación ( Mayo 2017) pues el precio fue muy asequible, así que sin dudarlo dos veces lo compre aunque sabía que tenía que guardarlo el el armario por un largo tiempo hasta que fuera el momento de obsequiarlo. Mi sobrino quedo maravillado cuando lo recibió ( octubre 8 2017 ) y hoy ( octubre 10 2017 ) tristemente me llamó para decirme que el auto había dejado de funcionar, aparentemente fueron las llantas traseras las que se descompusieron. Me siento muy frustrada pues sé que ya no puedo hacer nada pues el periodo de reclamo venció, pero lo peor es que mi sobrino está muy triste por que realmente adoraba su regalo.???? Absolutely dissappointing, this vehicle was a birthday present bought a long time in advance (may 2017) as the princesa was a real deal, so without hesitation I purchased it knowing I had To keep it stored in the wardrobe until it was time to be given. My nephew was absolutely astonished when he got it (october 8 2017) and unfortunately today ( october 10 2017) he phoned me To tell me That the car had just stopped working, apparently it was the back tyres which broke down. I am completely frustrated due To the devolution period has obviously expired, But the worst is that my nephew is deeply dissapointed cause he did adore his present...:(

Funcionó solo un tiempo

Compre el carrito con descuento a buen precio, en un principio funcionó bien más si embargo llegó el día en que dejó de funcionar, el vehículo enciende pero pareciera como si el costo trol remoto y el vehículo no estuvieran sincronizados, ya leí el instructivo para ver si se soluciona y no funciona

Una de mis mejores compras en amazon, llego antes de lo esperado y en muy bien empacado ya que no venia en su empaque original como estaba mencioen la publicación, compre 2 y ambos han funcionado a la perfección, sin ningún detalle, lps volveria a comprar sin duda alguna.

Muy divertido

Lo conseguí muy barato, y estoy muy contento con el producto que obtuve. Al principio cuesta acostumbrarse al control, una vez le encuentras el modo se vuelve mas divertido. Realmente es un "vehículo" todo terreno.
