A good under-layer shirt

This Russell Athletic under layer shirt is great and I really like it, I took the gamble on this one just by its looks, I am glad that I was not wrong about it, it turned out better than expected. My main purpose for this one is for wearing underneath my training jersey in the colder months, but can be successfully used during the summer months as well. There are a lot of positives to discuss about this shirt and a few negatives as well to be mentioned, but before that a few quick words on the packaging and presentation of the product. This one comes in a simple plastic bag without any frills and only the size sticker on it, and that is it, nothing more. Positives: - Longer fit and key points ventilation - I really like that the shirt is long, that way you can tuck it in underneath your shorts or long pants, it extends almost under your gluteus muscles, personally I prefer this kind of fit. In addition Russell has added perforations for ventilation on the key spots, under the armpits and over your spine, that way the sweat is getting extracted away from your body faster. - Very stretchy material - The polyester used on this one is very stretchy and can provide enough compression on your body while wearing it. - Great selection of different colors - I got the white one, but there are seven other colors to choose from, that is great if you want to match your team uniform colors. - Half a sleeve length of the sleeves - Absolutely love this length as it is covering my hand a little past my elbow, great if you are playing on turf and fall down, more coverage, better protection. - 50+ UPF protection - Perfect for the summer months if you are trying to avoid getting sun burned. Negatives: - A little on the expensive side - I think at around $30 Russell are asking too much for what this shirt is, there are a lot of competitors from all major brands at that price point, under $20 would have been easier to recommend. - The compression fit is snug - If you are not used to compression under layers, be prepared, I ordered my regular size L and it was pretty tight. Overall, a great compression fit shirt by Russell Athletic, it provides a lot of cover and protection during your training hours.

Very thin material, stretchy

Got this as a base layer for cooler weather, but because the material is so thin and is ventilated under the armpits and down the middle of the back, it's probably more suited to working out in the gym or outdoors in the summer. It is sold as a "compression" shirt and it is very stretchy and fits snugly, just not sure I'd say it's really compressing any muscles. I like that it is a long length, and the extended length sleeves are nice too. Maybe it's a brand name but the overall quality of this shirt doesn't seem as high as some of the other well-known athletic brands, though it's certainly priced the same (and seems a bit high for what you get). I thought the material would be more like DriFit but it's really not the same.

Thin stretchable compression shirt

These will arrive looking super thin and you'll start to question if you ordered the right one. Trust the size chart and your selection, the shirt is suppose to stretch out based on your body width. Mine was medium and it fit my 34 waist and gradual increasing chest width. The compression feels tighter around the chest region for me than it does near the waist, which might also be due to my slimmer Y shape body. If you feel like your body is wider than a 34 inch waist and comparable chest size, then you should order one size higher, large.

Very long torso length

I am 5'7 and 165 pounds and the medium fit across my chest and stomach well but the length of the shirt could go over my butt if I pulled it all the way down. This is handy if you plan on tucking it in but without tucking it in you have a lot of material bunched up around your waist. I used this for a mostly strength building workout so there weren't a ton of fast arm movements to see if it would chafe under the arms at all but after a 2 hour workout I didn't notice any discomfort. Seems like a quality shirt for those that like the compression.

Quality shirt from a quality brand

I got this shirt with cooler weather in mind, and use it as an underlayer with a shirt or sweater over it. Snug fit, as you would expect from a compression shirt. What drew me to this one was the Russell Athletic brand. I have Russell Athletic sweatshirts in my closet that are literally over 30 years old, and so I trust the brand and their quality completely. I’ll update this review in 2052 to let you know how the shirt is holding up!

Tee

This Tee took over a month to arrive, so that was sad. It fits well and is true to size. It feels great and light. This is perfect for working out or under the basketball uniform.

When they talk about compression, they aren't fooling around.

This is a max compression shirt. If that's what you want, that's exactly what you'll get. It won't be loose in the slightest way. I agree with the person who said if you want a shirt that's a bit looser, but still snug, go a size up. That said, if you do want heavy compression, then yes order your normal size. The quality of the shirt looks very good. The brand is a solid name. Pricing is okay. Not bad not great. 4 star rated.

Good basic compression shirt

I have a lot of these Russell Athletic shirts, and they're comfortable and good quality. Quality material and they hold up great in the wash, so they can take a lot of wear. Moisture wicking and great for sports and exercise. Do note that these are compression shirts and they are quite snug. If you want a looser fit, order several sizes up.
