Beautiful, sturdy and a great gift!

I absolutely love this piece. I’m not sure of all the materials, but it seems like enameled stainless steel. Very sturdy, easy to clean and just beautiful. I loved it so much I purchased a second one! I also have some other matching pieces as well. It comes so beautifully packaged and makes a statement as it’s opened. It looks like and feels like it should cost a lot more and I gifted to many friends over the holidays! They were thrilled! If they come out with more pieces, I will be there as a customer! Highly recommend.

Durable and a bit unique

This Lipper International 1901 Seascape Enamel & Stainless Steel Platter 14” is interesting but not quite what I expected. Though the description is accurate to what this item is the pictures of it are a bit misleading. You almost get the image of an item that has a glass look to it. This is not glass. It is metal and does not look as vivid as the pictures make it out to be but it doesn't look bad. It's just a different. Now that being said, it’s not a bad platter or serving dish. You could use this for decor as well but when you get close to it it’s very clear that you are looking at painted metal material. Not that it looks bad but the colors are blurred a bit and appear dull. I thought it would pop a bit more and really be like an accent piece. The positives of the metal material being that it is very durable. You're not going to have to worry about this plate breaking. So I see this as a good base for candles or for an end table with a plant. That’s just my take on it. They did do a great job with the packaging of the item and the presentation. It comes in a nice box with a cloth bag that has the platter inside. So if you're going to be getting this item as a gift it makes things easier presentation-wise. As far as the price point goes, I do think it’s a bit steep for what this product is. I don’t think I would purchase this item at this level but I’m also more of a fan of stained glass for these types of platters. I see the durability that the metal offers as a plus but it does come off as cheaper looking than a glass item. I did know that this product was metal from the listing though I had pictured it differently. From a distance it looks great, I will say that. It's when you get up close that it doesn't look as nice in my opinion.

My expectations were higher...

I guess my eyes were bigger than my stomach. This Lipper International Seascape Enamel & Stainless Steel Platter is exactly as described, but I expected richer colors, distinct lines, and... a fancier platter. Instead, this very functional, attractive platter is not the plate you'd would use as a gift, or even display on a stand. It comes well-packaged and ready to use. But it is a platter I'd expect to see with a pitcher of water or an ice bucket on it in a quaint B&B.

Good Size

this large metal platter is covered with enamel. it comes in a branded bag in a large bright blue box. It could be used as decoration but I've been using it to serve drinks. The design to me does not especially elicit any feelings of the sea or nature but people have complimented it. It is strong and stable. It is a good size. Handwash.

Photos DO lie...

Contrary to popular belief, photos DO lie. This platter doesn't really look much like the manufacturer's photos here on Amazon. I was quite disappointed when I opened it up, because for the selling price and description I was expecting a much nicer platter. The enamel coating on it looks more like a blurry low-quality pixelated printed photograph. On the positive side, the platter is very heavy and the enamel is smooth. I'll probably end up using it for cookouts, since it's not really a look I'd want inside my home.

Pretty

This is a very attractive and large platter that will stand out. I was expecting an actual mosaic from the photos but it is a painted image instead - still very nice looking and quite sturdy.

Good sized, but not as pretty as I had expected. This platter is strong and will make a nice tray for BBQ meats hot off the grill.

Striking and Colorful

This metal and enamel plate is heavy, colorful and well constructed. The stainless steel foundation allow me to use it on my screened in porch as a "permanent" feature in the center of the table for holding condiments, paper towel holder and napkins. It would also be effective for a serving tray or decorative element on a coffee table, shelf or bookcase. The artwork is a very modern and abstract design - so look closely and make sure it is "your thing". It isn't subtle, but it is colorful and striking.
