Don't care for this design, but great customer service!
My original review is below, but I'm editing that. When I contacted Amazon about the problem with my Active Flip Cap, I was told to contact the seller. When I called them, it seemed that missing gaskets is a common thing. She immediately told me she'd send one. Then as after thought, I told her I didn't like the volume of water that comes out. I liked the smaller, spouted lids with the silicone top. She said many people had complained about them because they break. I told her had loved mine for years until I lost the bottle. She said she'd send me a new flip top that was similar to my new one but had a smaller hole which would reduce volume and I could see if I preferred that. Well, sure, why not? When I got my package, there was a new style flip top AND one of the old style ones that I prefer. Wow, not often does customer service go so far above and beyond! ---------------------------- As soon as I took my new Flip Cap out of the package, I put it on my bottle. When I drank from it, water ran down from between the cap and the bottle. The lid is considered "high flow" but they don't tell you it flows in the wrong places! There's no gasket with this lid. Why would a lid for a glass water bottle not have a gasket? That's either very poor engineering or very poor quality control. I will be trying to contact the company, but since no paperwork came with it, I'm not holding out much hope.

One thing…
This lid works great with my water bottle. I do like the spout, however I don’t like that in order to open the lid you have to touch the spout right we’re your mouth goes. I work with children and I am diligent about washing my hands, but I have to wash my hands every time before I take a drink of water.

Best spout ever on a bottle!
I thought it was completely insane that I paid as much for this lid as I did for the whole bottle with its original lid. I am surprised that these mix-and-match lids are so expensive and come in so few colors. But regarding the lid itself, it's fantastic. I have never used this kind before. The lid for the opening is on a sturdy hinge and works like a stopper. It stays closed well and doesn't leak so I think I could possibly bring it in my bag and not worry about spillage. What really makes this lid special is the opening, which is large and easy to drink from. It works like a spout and pours the liquid right down your gullet such that you can get much larger gulps of water than from a regular lid. I have tried all the lids and I use them each for a different purpose. I have this lid screwed onto a medium-sized bottle and I keep it filled with Kombucha. I don't usually bring this bottle with me but rather have it filled and at the ready in the refrigerator door. If the price is discouraging people from buying this lid, just know that it is the coolest and the best and drinking from it is really FUN!

The Active Flip Cap isn't perfect, but it's much better than the Flip Cap
I purchased the Active Flip Cap to replace my older bottle with the Flip Cap. The Flip Cap is harder to open and close and to drink from. While it seals better, the spout cover is too flexible and doesn't function well for me. The Active Flip Cap has a metal hinge and larger spout which fixes these issues. The down side is that Active Flip Cap has a thin silicone ring to seal the spout opening. And because it's easier to open, it's far more prone to leaking. I have to be mindful every time I lay it on the side in my car - make sure the spout cap is secured. Even then there is occasional leakage, so I try to keep it upright in the cup holder whenever I can. I love that the lifefactory bottle is glass and has a large opening which makes it easy to clean, and easy to fill with ice cubes. So for that, I tolerate an imperfect cap. I'm not fond of the black color. As far as I know, they don't sell a black bottle. It's mostly fun and light colors. I get it, that they wanted to make one color of spare cap and not have to deal with many different colors for spare parts. But black? Far too harsh to match any bottle. They should have gone with a milder, gray shade.

TOO much suction! And too many 'parts'!
I don't know why LifeFactory doesn't just have the straw thread up through the mouth-piece, and 'clamp' from leaking when folded down. I used to love their older design which at least had minimal parts so easier to keep clean... but it sometimes leaked from the vent-hole if tipped, or with pressure changes like elevation gain / loss while driving... and then the straw-part itself relied on being perfectly aligned with the top-portion valve ... so over time the parts would wear out and loose suction because of 'gap'. All that really needed fixing on that design it seemed to me, was to just get the straw longer and threaded up through the flip-valve, and make the flip-down be a pinch point! But noooo... they went into over-engineering mode and made THIS version of the straw cap, which has more gaskety things in the under-side of cap where the straw inserts, and the mouthpiece is now all 'floppy' for some reason? And the suction created (too-tight / lacking vent hole?) means you can't really get satisfying gulps! The suction fights you getting long drinks and makes big glug-blop sounds when you stop drinking. SOOOO frustrating! Especially if using at night while half asleep and thirsty, you don't want to have to put "effort' into just sucking down some water. FFS. I love these bottles, but the straw-cap thing really needs to be simplified and solved ! And yes, straw is still the way to go... in bed, while driving, etc.... don't want to have to tip head back to either potential spill stuff, or loose line of sight. So yeah... still seeking the straw solution to this otherwise great bottle.

Functional, plastic smells funny, not as nice as the previous model
I had the previous model of flip cap and I loved it. This newer model functions fine, but feels stiff and the plastic smells really funky even after being through the dishwasher several times. The smell is somewhat off-putting to drink from. It's a clunkier design than the older flip caps, unfortunately they don't make the older ones anymore so I'm stuck with this one. It does work and it's doesn't leak, so good enough I guess... But I'm not loving it.

Mouthpiece pivots...
The mouthpiece pivots weirdly which I couldn't get used to, and felt rather flimsy and cheap. Stopped using it after about a week.

More durable than original
My original cap was in really rough shape after many months of use. The silicon was ripped and handle was broken. This new cap is very durable and no silicon to rip, so that is great.

It’s a good one!
Seals nicely yet easy to open for a kid with some weakness in his hands.

Leaking
Not very functional cap since it leaks a lot. Can’t recommend.
