Educational and fun!
I picked this up for my 5 and 8 year old boys. Right out of the box I noticed that all the pieces are well built and durable - this is not going to fall apart on you (or the kids). The set comes with 9 different challenges to complete that show off what the different pieces can do. The challenges are illustrated well with no reading required. My 8 year old had a blast following the 9 different challenges, while my 5 year old preferred to build his own sets and use some PVC piping to create paths and obstacles. I like that the set introduces very rudimentary physics such as force and angles. You could also use the scientific method with this (which way will the ball go? Make a hypothesis and test it...) and get creative as well! My only concern with the set is that there is only so much you can do with the pieces themselves, so my boys were tired of it after an hour and haven't touched it since. The set would probably be more interesting with additional challenges or by pairing it with additional STEM kits. I received this for free in return for my honest review.

Build obstacles to launch and hit your targets
STEM challenge wacky wheels let you build, launch and crash things. It’s a great engineering game for kids 5 and up. The kit comes with 15 pieces which includes 2 balls, a wheel launcher, a ramp, 3 piece hoop target, 5 X targets, a goal cup, sticker sheets and a booklet. The booklet has 9 suggested challenges. Our five year old son loves doing the challenges and trying to create his own obstacle course. He puts the balls in the launcher and spins the wheel to launch the ball through hoop or via a ramp to knock down X targets. He loves rearranging the pieces and is learning about speed and thrust and other science concepts. Only tricky part was putting on the stickers as the instruction was not very clear as to where they should go.

Fun Game
Overall, it’s a fun product. My 6 year old daughter enjoys playing with it. The wheel is kind of a pain sometimes, but it’s still fun. I think a product with cars would be more fun versus the balls.

Easy to assemble and use, educational & fun
I like the educational component of this toy. It’s mesnt to teach them. The pieces are study and it’s easy to take out of the box. The design of the toy easily gains the attention of you kid!

Great STEM game
My six year old really enjoyed playing with this and trying out different ways to play. He loved incooperating his other toys too into the different set-ups. This was a game I enjoyed too since I loved to see his little mind at work and am always on the hunt for good STEM toys.

Fun for a broad age range!
This is a fun, educational STEM related toy for kids over age 5. My son loves this set. He has done many different things with this, and has even added other toys to it to make an even more fun challenge!

A wonderful purchase!
My grandson is four and LOVES this game. Aside from the suggestions in the box; he is always creating his own wacky wheel challenges.

Quite flimsy
I am always a bit wary of children's toys which emphasise their educational value. It is true that a child using this set will learn about distance, power to weight ratios, angles and trajectories but actually they won't know what any of these things are unless someone tells them - what the children will do is learn to propel the ball through the hoop to knock down the targets and what is the best way of doing that practically. It is good enough fun but children make up their own games with Lego, balls, cars and all sorts of stuff inside and outside with balls and hoops which will teach them as much without a targeted toy. Anyway, having said that there is some fun available here but the set is rather plasticky and flimsy. When my grandson was using it he did add other things he had around and seemed to enjoy making his own challenges. He was disappointed though with the launching device as he would have preferred something faster and stranger. Not a success overall. It doesn't really achieve its educational goals and it wasn't that engaging to use. I expect it will be dragged out from time to time but there was no real residual enthusiasm.

Good toy for imaginative kids, needs new ball firing mechanism though.
Science was never like this when i was a kid! I can see the point of this kit (mostly, im not a teacher so i dont understand all this STEM stuff but im sure its been well thought out). Its important to line the various bits of kit up well or the course wont work. It can be an introduction to angles and speed, rotation, force, trajectory etc all disguised as fun! (certainly a lot more fun than tilting a plank to see when a box would over come the force of friction and slide down it!) The bits included seem to be sturdy and well made, like all learning resources stuff. I do not understand the title 'Wacky Wheels'. The only wheel looks like a cog/gear and its not all that wacky. There i certainly plenty of fun to be had with a bit of imagination. My nephew already enjoys making assult courses in the garden for his football out of bits and pieces he can find so he was well away with this. He added soft toys as things to jump over (can the ball clear the unicorn and the bear?!) he made things to catch the ball out of lego. He saw how far the ball could rebound off the wall and gave himself ponts for the ball landing in various hoops he drew on paper. What would improve this kit is a better method of firing the ball. The gear thing would benefit from a bearing of some kind as on our one it judders as it spins slowing it down. This makes it hard for the ball to be fired with any speed at all. I can see the point of adding the very engineering gear type thing but a better method of firing the ball would be the sort of thing you get in a pinball machine, maybe keep the gear as an obstacle for the ball to knock as it moves through it. Imaginative kids will get a lot from this TV kids will be looking for the on switch....

Short STEM goals...
Wacky Wheels arrives in a fun-looking biggish box but there isn't really that much in there and the toy feels a bit empty too. You get an interesting collection of components which are meant to form various obstacle-course-like challenges involving trying to get one of the supplied balls to leap, bounce or fly through hoops and into obstacles, bouncing off walls and floors on the way if possible. Young kids might benefit from the help of a grown-up to apply the sheet of stickers that's supplied to decorate the different components, you only get one of each so it would be easy to mess up. There's a ball-launcher which features a slightly weighted cog wheel which players spin to fire the ball toward other pieces and hopefully achieve the goal. The problem is that the launcher is only powered by the child and goes as fast and hard as they spin it, therefore the ball's speed and trajectory is rarely constant. You'd expect that achieving each challenge would simply be a case of arranging and rearranging the other pieces to get the correct angles and distances so the ball arrives at its destination. The problem is that you also have to fire the ball with exactly the same force each time, which is virtually impossible, to make that work and so every challenge is twice as difficult as it might be and therefore a bit frustrating. If the ball-launcher was powered by an elastic band for example, and therefore more predictable, it would be more achievable and more fun. Our mini-engineers got a bit bored of the suggested challenges and just turned the whole thing into a demolition game, quite fun for them but not quite what's intended.

Really fun way to learn some stem skills
Fun STEM set focusing on building, exploring motion, and experimenting with changing different designs and layouts to get a different result. I really like how this is clearly educational and you can see the kids learning, but they also have a lot of fun. My boys were immediately drawn to it and interested by the theme and concept, and it worked well. It’s best if you have a big room and open space to do it so you can go further in allowing the balls to bounce and make more challenging tracks. They are easy to make since it’s suitable from 5+ but engages slightly older kids too. The box is quite small but enough to make a great start with, and make plenty of challenges (booklet included with about 8) but on the side of the box it also shows you two more sets to add if you want a really big set, if your child is really into it. We found it a lot of fun and quite different to other toys available
