Good set, but 1 gram weights aren't perfectly precise

This weight set is pretty good- will get the job done as a child's learning device. My only complaint is the imprecision of the 1 gram weights: they are just imperfect enough to stack poorly. The weight of the 1 gram weights is also off by a couple percentage points. Not a deal breaker, but slightly disappointing.

Great set!

There is a 1g tolerance as you go from the metal weights to the plastic weights, so if you're using this to teach about balances, you will need to explain the difference. Likely, the plastic coating on the metal weights was not accounted for. Still, it sits in our dining room, and the kids (5 and 8) are having a blast weighing everything, comparing weights, and understanding the fundamentals of algebra. (To do that, get a true 2-sided balance, and talk about taking 3 grams from both sides will leave the sides still in balance -- then write it down as an equation, and taking away 3 from both sides. Talk about difference vs absolute measurements, etc...) This is a math toy rather than just a science toy in our home.

Decent accuracy, not perfect. Stackable.

Using a scale that is accurate to 0.1g, I weighed each weight as soon as I received the kit. The larger weights are off by more than the smaller weights. The 1g weights are perfect (1.0). Weighing ten of these was 10.0, so spot on! The 5g weights all weighed 4.9g each, or 48.8 for 10 of them. Here are the other weights: 998.8g, 499.9g, 100.2g, {20.0g, 20.0g, 20.1g, 19.8g}, 9.9g, 4.9g, 1.0g. I don't care for the colors, but that doesn't matter if you're weighing. I do like that they're all stackable, very handy! The box is just an open box, which is good that there's no pre-molded custom fittings, and all the pieces fit in there without needing to be too organized.

It's a nice learning product, but I wish the case had arrived intact as a place to store them. The warehouse person must have thrown it into the box with our other educational purchases and shattered the case it was in. Since that's not the fault of the manufacturer etc. I won't mark them down for it. offers great visuals for kids! will get a lot of use out of these.

Great learning tool

I have an old balance scale that has weights in ounces. I got these gram weights to teach my son metric. My son has had a great time learning with these weighing various items and comparing ounces to grams. They are not overly precise as other reviews have mentioned but more then adequate for learning the basics of weighing for my 6 year old. I also think they are accurate enough for metric cooking.

Easy for Kids to Use

Works great in a third grade classroom. Students can use easily, and it's very helpful for giving them a good idea of how much a gram versus a kilogram weighs.

Good weights but broken box

Weight set is wonderful. However the box it came in was very thin & flimsy plastic. It arrived cracked and broken. Its a bummer because the weights fit in it perfectly.
