The things he creates are pretty amazing. The sets do work well together
I got this for my 5 year old son for Christmas, along with a couple of other sets of the Learning Resources Engineering sets. The kid loves to build things and he is extremely creative. He doesn't really build the items on the sets, but that's okay. The things he creates are pretty amazing. The sets do work well together, as well as separately, which is pretty cool. The colors are bright and fun and are easy for young hands to manipulate. While the 5 year old is at school, my 2 1/2 year old also tries to build with the sets. He can't do much else than stick the legs into the bases, but he has fun with it. I also like to build with this set. I don't know why, but it's fun. So, it's fun all around!! Buy just one set, or several, but it's good STEM for young kiddos.

Flimsy but it’ll work
Flimsy and not what I was thinking it would be but it’ll work. I’m sure my class will love constructing with it and I hope it lasts.

Very satisfied
My daughter got this for her sixth birthday and is able to construct the designs on all the cards without assistance. She will also play with it for hours at a time creating her own designs using elements from the five idea cards. There is a lot more play-ability to this set before it gets old hat like some of Learning Resources' other stem sets.

Awesome fun
Great product. Lots of fun to play with. Fun to look at the cards and have the kids try to create what they see and of course go free range as well. Definitely recommend

Critical thinking for all ages
Well made with endless building possibilities. My 9 year old tends to follow the enclosed design cards, while my 4 yr old builds whatever comes into his head, but both love and ask to play with this set! We've had for 2 weeks and is still one of their favorites!

Great for problem solving but skimping in parts and a little confusing. not for small world play!
We have this as an add on to the Learning Resources Playground set, and if I'm honest we probably need that to make this more effective. This is a pared down version with far less physics and pieces and a bit more 'how can we modify it'. The concept is strong- build the base and then problem solve how to make it better for example to make it taller, to connect two tree houses, to make it safe and then more interesting- all these are achievable by a 5 year old and will become more complex as they get older. BUT We almost put this back in the box after opening because the activity cards are really in the wrong order. Thinking of the problem solving capabilities required I really think designing a pulley system to lift a bucket is far more complicated than putting some premade pieces to make a railing or bridge? This would require some modelling and instruction beforehand in pulleys and levers (of which you cannot really create as no moving parts) before they can put the pieces together to design one. My 5 year old got the jist, she used the string and created something to attach it to but she was obviously thinking of something more complicated and got stymied with the available parts- but making it super tall, railings and bridges she did without pausing to think. Also I think they missed a trick making the person figures feet too big for the bucket or a lift could've been made too. This isn't a rainy afternoon toy, it requires some prep and it isn't a small world toy, if your child wants something to play with not solve problems with Sylvanian Families do a lovely treehouse with a nice clubhouse and pulley system already installed!

Good but part seems to be missing
This is pretty good all be it basic I feel especially for the age group advertised. You can basically build all kinds of tree houses and bridges with the pieces provided. The downside to this I feel is its a bit basic for the age that its intended for and probably better for a younger child. Problem with that however is the small pieces mean that it cant be advertised as such. I used it with my two kids one younger and both enjoyed it the older one got through it very quickly meaning the younger one started to lose interest. Bit of a tough one but its a nice toy the only negative really is the rope seemed to be missing from mine.

Constructive play
For clarity this set includes 46 plastic pieces, 5 activity cards and a sheet of stickers. The stickers are of leaves, planks, lady birds and a squirrel. This set is all about building. The pieces fit together nicely and we like the range of colours. Some of the pieces clip together, which could lead to breakages. The stickers are quite basic and younger children may need help with them. The activity cards are not necessary, but following plans is in itself a useful learning experience. We like that this set encourages experimentation and is a good confidence builder. It is also nice to have something that is not tied into film and television. It requires only a modest amount of space. Our 5 year old girl enjoys playing with it. Most suitable for ages 5-7.

educational
It's well built and quite engaging. It's not the go to toy for the littleun but overall they use it quite a bit.

Not really successful
Very much falls between two stools. If it is an educational toy (which is its design) then you follow the instructions on the cards included to problem solve. This is not terribly engaging to smaller children and to older ones it will seem very like school. Will fit a particular child who likes this sort of experimentation and who hopefully can do things without too much adult assistance. If it is a toy then it fails because it just isn't flexible enough to play with - you would be better with a construction set. It is well built and brightly coloured and does fit well together.
