Upgrade was totally worth it
Been using the el cheapo lights from harbor freight and finally decided to get a REAL light. It was worth every penny - I should have upgraded sooner! Light is extremely bright - while doing a brake job I honestly never needed the max setting. Having the light pivot in the bracket is invaluable when you're playing twister under a car. First time use had it on for 5 hours zero issues (using the LiOn battery) and was very comfortable. I do wear an XL hat and was concerned this light was going to be a tight fit but not at all. Had room to spare on the slack adjustment. Would highly recommend.

This is a quality product.
This is mainly a review of the Coast XPH34R. However I do also somewhat review the Coast HL8 by comparison. Both of these products are quality items which I own. The HL8 is an earlier model with a lower light output. The advantage of this light is it will take AA batteries, and can be equipped with an optional rechargeable battery at extra cost. It is also in my opinion an more comfortable light to wear if you are not using a hard hat. The portion of the light that rests against your forehead seems larger, and the light is lighter. The brightness on the HL8 is easily adjustable with a 3 position rotary switch. This light is mainly a plastic build, but well made, and that may be why it is lighter. The XPH34R is primarily a metal product. It seems to be precision machined. It is designed to be used with Coasts lithium battery made for this product, and works well, is very bright. It is not as comfortable as the HL8 because it is heavier, and it appears that the area of the light that rests against the forehead is smaller, so more weight on a smaller area. This potential problem (not everyone will find it a problem) could be mitigated by using it with a hard hat. Coast provides a battery carrier which can be inserted in lieu of the rechargeable battery that takes AAA cells. I do not think AAA cells would last very long in this product, so you might want to get a spare rechargeable. You adjust the brightness of this product by a series of button presses. The light starts in medium mode. To set on high, press the button twice. To set on low, 3 times. The turbo mode can be activated by holding the button down for two seconds. I actually prefer the mechanism of the HL8 for setting brightness, but unless you are changing this often, the button presses should work fine. I like both these products and rate them 5 stars. However, be aware that while the XPH34R is pitched as a 2075 lumen light, this is ONLY in turbo mode, which shuts off after a very short time, and goes to a lower brightness… I assume to protect the light from heat damage. I can not find this detail in the light specs or description, but it is in the Q & A on the Coast website re this product… so I would rate the description as a little misleading. It has been my experience that Coast honors its lifetime warranty. I am a bit of a Coast-a-holic, (I have lots of their products), and have replaced two of them under warranty, which has been hastle free, and one reason I keep coming back for more. I wish they made cars.

5/5 - best bang for your buck
This light has multiple brightness settings: low, med, high, ultra. The lens is adjustable for a focused, or a wide beam. I can conservatively run this headlamp for multiple days without recharging. It is also removable, and has a built-in magnet, which is convenient. This thing extremely rugged, and durable. Must have!

Very bright light
Very powerful light, recharges fast and I like that you can focus the beam. Also love the magnetic base. Use it for hunting going in and out the tree stand works great and has a long battery life. Would recommend.

Overall excellent headlamp!
I purchased this to attach to my helmet when riding my EUC (electric unicycle). This is an excellent headlamp. I'd give it 4.5 stars if I could. It can charge via USB-C, has multiple brightness levels, and comes with a bunch of different accessories. It has a solid metal build and has an easy to use clicker. It's even brighter at the same distance and supposed brightness level than the AceBeam H30 ($115), which is priced significantly higher than this one. However, I will be returning it. The distance vision is pretty good, but isn't what's advertised. It can't be. The Nitecore HC65M V2, also $85, is the one I'll be keeping. Here's why. The Nitecore advertises: - High - 900 lumens - 123m distance The Coast (this one), advertises: - High - 1025 lumens - 136m distance The Coast starts off a little brighter, but around 5-10min the Nitecore is quite a bit brighter. That's a bit false advertising to me. Again, if you don't need distance vision, (I travel between 25-35mph at night and need to see far in front of me), the Coast has a better flood mode. If you're walking/hiking/jogging or riding a bike, you can't go wrong with either of these honestly.

Great product
Not too bulky and enough light output. Ive had brighter headlamps but this one is very well made and usually my trusty back up. My main headlamp is a cheap chinese headlamp that uses 4 18650 batteries. That thing was only like $30 but it lights up the whole forest. It drains battery fast and will burn a hole in your backpack if you forget to turn it off. This why i always carry this coast headlamp as a back up. Usually someone in the group forgets a headlamp so most times someone else is using it.

Great light.
