Great test for the price
This test works very good for me, take your time and read the instructions and understand them before you start and its not that bad of a test. There are tests that have less steps but they are also double the price.

Kit expired
The kit I received from Amazon did not work, even the reference did not present any color during testing. Perhaps the reagents expired. I emailed Seachem support and they sent me a new one that worked as described. The color intensity seems inconsistent and there is only a short window of time to do the reading. I test with the reference sample every time which limits the amount of tests I can do if I want any amount of resolution beyond present vs not present. The test is fairly straightforward, but *requires* RODI or distilled water. It takes 5 min to wait for the prepared reagent to “activate”, but otherwise the testing is very quick. Mix the powder reagent with your water and then mix in the prepared liquid reagent, read the color change.

We need a test that separates Iodide from Iodine!
The test is a bit complex to do, but alright after getting used to it. As stated, it measures both Iodide(I-, good, a necessary nutrient) and Iodine(I2, bad, a sterilant and poison). After reading more about Iodide/Iodine I realized that measuring both together presents a problem for aquarists. We might want to supplement Iodide with, for example Potassium Iodide, but we should not add Iodine to our aquaria. Because the test measures both it does not give the information we need...

Works great for me
Not sure what happened to the other person's test but mine worked perfectly. The instructions could be a little clearer though. When it first arrived I wondered if it was working as my water registered Zero Iodide. However, after 6 days consecutive days of Iodide additions to my tank my level is now reading 0.04 mg/L and nearing the recommended level of 0.06 to 0.08. FYI: The Iodide I'm adding is Aquavitro Vibrance made by Seachem. Looking forward to an increased growth rate of my soft corals. :)

It works, but what a pain
This test works, but it is not trivial to perform. In an era where aquarium water testing has become ultra simple, this test remains difficult to perform and interpret. The only saving grace is that it includes a control, so you at least know you didn't botch the test. I hope one day there is a Hanna checker for iodide and then I can give this away. To someone I don't like. The irony of this is that I bought the test because I wanted to dose iodine in my reef. Every time I perform the test, I get zero iodine. The positive control works, so I know I didn't screw up. I've stopped performing the rest and now I just add a squirt of iodine supplement from time to time.

Skeptical at first...
Not the easiest test to perform. but if you can read, you should have no problem getting "dead on balls accurate" results. definitely worth the savings compared to a salifert test kit, there are just a few extra steps involved.

hard test
Came in in a timely manor was well packed. The test itself is probably the hardest one I have to do in my arsenel of tests. you have meer moments to read the color scale before it fades away.

Good test kit
Easy multi step test. Takes about 10 minutes to do. Can test accuracy on test water sample they send with kit. Don't dose anything you can't measure. Used distilled water to make required solution. RO water may not work.

inutile ho provato 4 volte e seguendo alla lettera le istruzioni. testato con iodio puro e non ha dato nessuna reazione. soldi buttati.
