Working as expected...
Here is my situation ... I was using the petsafe WIRELESS fence system for almost 2 years with my two dogs (mini schnauzer and giant schnauzer) and it was working for them wonderfully. However, I began to realize it would be better if I could control more specific areas they were allowed to go in (that system just does a circle). For example, they were messing up my mulch in my flower bed and pooping right in my driveway where we park our cars (always nice when people would come over and have to dodge giant piles of doo) So I called petsafe and they assured me the shock levels would be the same as the wireless so I should not need a "stubborn dog" system. I was able to run approximately 850' of wire (I bought another 500' spool additional to the one that comes with this set) in a matter of a few hours really. I'm a 33 year old woman and I had my 12 year old son help. After laying it all out in our desired pattern, he used the shovel to just lift up small sections of the sod and I was on my hands and knees tucking it under. We did 200' one evening and the knocked the rest out in a couple hours the next afternoon. It was pretty easy depending on the type of soil. I would recommend mowing before installing (I did not and wished I would have). My dogs have picked up on their new boundaries very quickly and I'm very pleased so far. My friend warned me to make sure I get it all buried right away because breaks in the rope can happen very easily if just left out (kids trip over it, car, tractor, mower runs it over etc). With this system I was actually able to give my dogs more area to roam and section off areas I didn't want them in so it's a win-win situation. Plus this system (even with my extra spool and extra collar) was cheaper than the wireless one. Wish I would have done this in the first place.

We are very happy with the fence, the collar and batteries. Good investment for my cat's safety
We have had the PetSafe containment system for several months now for my cat. At first, the battery didn't seem to last more than 3-4 days and my cat got out of the fence. Then we discovered that all we needed to do was to increase the level of the shock by one. After that, my cat learned quickly not to go near the fence. My battery now has lasted more than 4 months of daily use. We take the collar off at night and turn the battery off. I also learned that there is a fine line between being off and on. If at first the battery light doesn't flash, turn the cap just slightly more either direction and check again. Sometimes you can go to far and turn it off or just barely not enough to turn it on. We bought extra batteries, but so far are still using the second battery. My cat only got out once and that was before we increased the shock level. I don't think he even tries to get near the fence now so the battery is just on standby. We LOVE the fence and have also been very happy with the batteries once we discovered the tricks. We have only tried the original PetSafe batteries. At this rate, we may never need a replacement!!

Piece of cake
Can't beleive how easy it was to install and I can sit outside with the dogs and how no worries about them leaving the yard. Installed about 1000 foot of and got it running in about 5 hours, and it works great

Enough to keep a 100lb German Shepherd in the yard
Was really on the fence (no pun intended) about purchasing this just because of how much cheaper it was compared to other electric fences listed on here. But it does the job. My 100lb german shepherd is very territorial and stubborn and will run into the street if she even sees another dog walking. So instead of waiting for an incident I needed a quick solution to keep her in the yard while I do yardwork or taking her out. This was so easy to set up and the instructions were very clear on how it all works. She learnt through the first shock trying to run into the street that she wasnt allowed to leave past the white flags. It's been a few months since I installed it and she knows how far she can go. Doesnt even bother to bark at other dogs now, so that was an added bonus.

shocking surprise
My 14lbs terrior mix has a mind of her own. Try as we did, she would not stay in the yard, and we live out in the country in a gated community, and fences are frowned upon. We live on a river, and the deer are thick out here...lots of distractions for a little dog. Long story short, she got the idea about the flags being the limit, but with the collar set on the second setting, she was not discouraged from just running through the boundry. Reset the collar to the third position, and after one last run past the boundry, she discovered that she really likes staying away from those flags. I shocked myself before I tried it on her, and it is similar to a static discharge from shuffling your feet on a carpet. We are in the third week of training, and I really feel comfortable letting her run outside without fear of her running away. A consideration is that other dogs have no problem coming into my yard, so THEY can still be a threat to my little dog. It took me about 2 hours to install the system. I put the control box in the attic to keep it out of the weather, and just ran the wire behind a gutter down spout, to the ground. I do have a split rail fence around part of my yard, and just stapled the wire to the bottom of the lower rail. I would buy this product again. If my single minded dog learned, any dog can. Even my wife, who thought this was akin to animal torture, is happy we have this installed.

This works!!
Lots of videos on line about install. Took my husband and I 3 days to install on 2 acres. But it was worth it! Other wireless fences allowed my dog to run past the border with a small shock. After two attempts my dog will not go anywhere near the flags!!

Yardmax mode is so-so
Install went smooth. We laid about 1300 ft of wire, a little less than 2 acres. Made sure to follow all the directions regarding corner radius, etc. However, YardMax mode fails frequently on the corners, allowing escape. It just wasn't consistent enough. Traditional mode is very consistent, but when doggo runs past the fence, he doesn't get corrected if he's more than 10ft or so past the wire. (Hence why we wanted YardMax mode). Maybe its due to our large yard size? The literature states the until should be able to handle yards much larger, but in practice, it just doesn't.

Perfect
Very please. I bought this to replace the wire in my radio dog fence. This is much more substantial and fit for purpose. Easy to install (I used a lawn edger and just pushed the wire down with a bamboo)

Superb customer service. Thank you
My existing cabling was damaged during some building work. This product is a great way of replacing the boundary wire. Particular thanks to Superpet who dispatched the kit very quickly so my cats could go out again.
