Hair history: okay, so I was blonde for years. I have naturally very dark hair. thick, coarse, wavy, and I keep it long. The first time I went blonde on virgin hair, I never did any treatments afterwards or anything special to the upkeep of my hair. I even did a couple purple shampoos a couple times a year to keep out the brassiness (which is super drying) and just used some store brand shampoo and conditioner - whatever was on sale. It takes a lot to make my hair unhealthy. Well, I decided I wanted my hair brunette again (huge mistake) and got it professionally dyed. I kept that way for a year before I just couldn't take it anymore and wanted to go blonde again. My old hairdresser moved so I was referred to a new one. Hair disaster occured. It was so bad that I couldn't wait to get it redone. Saw a new hairdresser a week later and after many hours, my hair wasn't orange anymore. But this made my hair very dry. It also completely wrecked my natural wave and after my first wash at home (very gentle - better quality shampoo & conditioner and let it air dry), it was a big poof of frizzy and dryness. My new hairdresser recommended using Olaplex and K18 - which I ordered. Before the Olaplex got to me, I needed to wash again so I used some store bought hair masks which really helped with the moisture for that day, but it didn't do any repairing so it was a temporary fix. Olaplex Review: Today was my first time using the system. #0 review: took 1/2 the bottle to make my hair damp (and at this time, my hair is only 2-3 inches below my shoulders due to a massive cut). If my hair was it's normal length, it would have taken the whole bottle. The sprayer is crazy! It's not a mist, it's a jet stream so I ended up spraying around my bathroom by mistake as it was hard to direct. I left it on for 15 minutes before I used #3. In the future, I will put the 0 in a better sprayer bottle before using. #3 review: put this on for about a half hour after reading multiple reviews. Again, it took half the bottle. Which means I will get 2 uses from 0 & 3. I wash my hair 1-2 times a week depending on need, so this will last me 1 weekish, which isn't really feasible. #4 review: This is the shampoo. I was pleasantly surprised that I didn't need as much as I normally do with my regular shampoo. However, it didn't give me a very "clean" feeling afterwards. Every other review said the smell was nice but I didn't notice too much of a smell at all. You need to lather it into your hands before applying to get it to cover more area. #5 review: this conditioner does exactly nothing. I put it on, waited 5ish minutes and then rinsed in cold water. My hair was not soft. It felt somewhat dry... I did use around 1/2 of the bottle with this as well because it didn't coat very much of my hair. Final result: I normally wash at night and let my hair air dry, but I had somewhere to be so I needed to blow dry my hair. I dried it with a very good blow dryer, on a low heat setting. My hair is less frizzy for sure, but it's really weighed down. It doesn't feel clean and feels like I have product in it, but I made sure I rinsed it very well. My hair tangles and snarls. Even after dry, I went to fix my part and my hair snarled in the brush.... If I run my fingers through it, it snarls also. Not great. Overall, I definitely can feel that my hair is sleeker. It's not a big poof of frizziness... But it wasn't quite the result I was expecting. And for the price, getting 2 treatments....? I would need to buy at least 4 sets of this every month... $240. That's a bit much for the result I got. I think 0 & 3 gave the most benefit to my hair, but I think the shampoo and conditioner are probably worthless. I'm going to do this treatment again in 3 or 4 days and see how my hair looks then and update this review if necessary. However, based on other reviews, it seems like most people don't like the shampoo and conditioner. I'm also ordering the #8 deep conditioner because those reviews are much more positive. Hopefully that performs better!
