Amazing hiking boots post injury

I broke my ankle and had to have surgery this winter. I found it difficult months later to start walking again. The first time I used these boots was in physical therapy. It was like a miracle when I walked in them. After struggling to walk on crutches wearing an air cast I was able to walk without fear with one crutch for the first time since my injury. I have had many hiking boots but the ankle stability in these boots are by far the best! Highly recommended!! If you are purchasing after injury but at least a half size bigger than normal. It is touch to get a semi swollen foot in but they will break in eventually.

Keen is my go to for comfortable walking/hiking!

I have bought many Keen casual shoes and sandals over the years. The brand is always durable and I find their closed toe boxes are roomy and comfortable for a lot of vacation museum walking. This is my first pair of Keen hiking shoes and so far I'm liking them a lot. As usual with Keen, no break in period needed. Waterproofing and good ankle support were important to me, as is their durability. In the past, I've purchased very expensive hiking boots at outdoors stores where they customize the fit by using a big rice-cooker looking steamer. This weakens the glue used in the boots and they fall apart in a few years. The Targhee 3 boots fit out of the box. Highly recommended, especially if your toes are medium to wide.

Real deal

Over the past few years, so often I buy Keens from Amazon & they are horribly low quality. These are the good ol' Keens I've loved for over a decade. I will say that *this* exact model does tend to get a little stinky, more than some Keen styles I've worn. Despite all wool socks, if I'm sweating & really working hard in these, after a few days they need some deodorizer. (For reference: I don't have particularly stinky feet -- it's quite rare for me to deodorize my shoes EVER) That's my only minor complaint (more like a warning). Almost zero break-in time. Runs true to size (I ordered half a size up based on Amazon's recommendation: they're ok, since I can wear them with thick socks, but I did NOT need half a size up). Super high quality. Would definitely buy again.

The best work boots I have ever owned!

These are absolutely the very best work boots a person can own. The inserts are amazing as if molded to my foot. The support they give me has been key! I will never own any other brand for hiking and outdoors work than Keens!

Good hiking boot

These are good hiking boots. I like the tread pattern. I wore my old ones until they literally fell apart after a full decade of hiking and horseback riding. Looking forward to another decade with these boots.

Comfortable except around ankle

The media could not be loaded. Fits my foot as expected but the part above my ankle is so rough, it made my ankle turn red and puff up. It may have been caused by the tags in that spot or the threads attaching the thread, I don’t know why for sure. I didn’t lace the uppermost option and left it a bit loose on my ankle and it still did that. The footpad is comfortable from day one. There is room for my toes. No pain anywhere but my ankle, otherwise I’d have given 5 Stars. I have not hiked with them on yet. I used to wear a 7, but have had to wear an 8 in the last 5 years, I bought the size 8 and they are perfect. i planned to buy a thicker insole but I don’t think there is room for one.

... a shoe that finally fits ... perfectly. the hiking boots are really comfortable, the hiking shoes are really comfortable, and now I'm waiting for my new sandals. My feet are happy :)

Great boots other than the laces

These are fabulous boots other than the laces. The boots fit perfectly and are extremely comfortable. I wore them right of of the box on a short 40 minute walk. However, the laces are awful. They consistently come undone! I tried multiple lacing techniques. I'm disappointed Keen would have such poor quality laces.

Do not hesitate !!

These were the perfect hiking boot ! Lovely and wide around the toe , with an arch support that left my feet so comfy and supported. Absolutely waterproof. I was in the snow and rain in these beauties - and not one bit of water came through. They are pricey - but worth every Penny !!!

I love these boots!!

I ordered my usual size and wow - they fit!! I do a lot of walking and need the traction and support that hiking boots provide during Canadian winters. These boots are waterproof but not particularly warm. However the generous toe box allows for a good pair of thermal socks. My feet are happy!
