Gerbils Like It
We hit an unexpected heat wave and have no air conditioning. With one pregnant gerbil and her older baby daddy at death's door, fans and cold food simply weren't enough. They looked fairly miserable in between nuzzling each other and continuing to enjoy an active sex life. TMI? Okay, sorry! To see them sleeping apart due to the weather was heartbreaking. This is just a piece of granite that you place in your fridge and then in the cage/tank and it retains the coolness for awhile. The package tells you to keep 2 slabs on hand so you can swap them out - while one is chillin' your pets aren't left waiting and getting hot again. The gerbs checked it out, promptly peed on it, then dad settled in happily. Mom not as happy with it. Urine wipes off easily and doesn't stain it. I put it in the freezer a few times to get it colder faster and then put it back in. It doesn't seem to stay cool as long as I'd like. They sleep soundly on it - together. A bit of toilet tissue for cushioning helps them avoid having a hard surface to try and get comfortable on. I've kept and bred gerbils for decades and would recommend this. The slab arrived with no chips or broken parts. I suspect if you do get a broken one it will be because the delivery people handled it poorly. This might also be a good product for cats and small dogs.

Neat Product
I have two chinchillas, in separate cages and purchased two of these to see how it would go over. Both chinchillas have different personalities, so I didn't know what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised. First off, we do not have air conditioning in our home, we do have the window air conditioners, but those do not cool the house due to the size of some rooms- but we try. Anyway, this product mentions putting the block in the fridge, and then putting it in the cage. At first, both chins didn't know if they wanted anything to do with it, but they grew more fond of it as time went on. BOTH ended up using it, one was more obvious about it than the other, but both certainly used it. One of the things that I LOVED, is since this is stone, it has the tendency to be colder naturally anyway, so even if I did not put it in the fridge at all, they still had a way to cool down if they wanted to. I highly recommend this, I think the concept is really great and so far, I am impressed. The ONLY thing that I wish was different, is the shape. I wonder if round may be slightly less dangerous, perhaps it would be easier to avoid sharp edges?

cooling item for my chinchillas
It seems that these pieces would help to keep my chinchillas cool. So far they are not setting on them much. However, I will leave them in their cages. They will probably get adjusted to them.

My rabbit loves it
I have a 4 year old American fuzzy lop, and she loves her chilly stones. She spends 100% of her time when she's resting on her stone. We bought her several, so at each cage clean we can take it out and wash it. 10/10 would recommend

Used for guinea pigs, works great!
Arrived unbroken, in great condition. Am using it to keep my guinea pigs cool during the summer months. Just place in cage and they like to “chill” on top of it. If it gets really hot out, I have placed in refrigerator. Without chilling, they feel cool to the touch, and remain a cool spot for my boys. When chilled in refrigerator, Resnais very cold for a long time. I usually place a small sheet of fabric over it when chilled for more comfort on little feet. Granite piece looks nice, is very easy to clean, and works great. The size is very nice for my pigs, they have enough room plus if they want to sprawl out. Happy I purchased.

I've had this for a month now and my rats enjoy using this on hot days even without putting it in the fridge. It does tend to attract pee, if you have rats you know they pee on anything with a smooth and flat surface (it's just their nature). Cleaning isn't an issue since a quick rinse gets it nice and clean. There is a smooth and rough side so I suggest having the smooth part up in the cage for easier cleaning. It is surprisingly heavy at 3.5lbs, no small animal would be able to move this which is fantastic. The best part about this is that it's nonporous so there's no lingering ammonia smell unlike buying cheap porous 25c tiles. Yeah it's fairly pricey for what is essentially a slab of stone but come on, this thing will last years, it's worth it.

Great quality, cooling stone for small animals
These are very hard to come by so I’m so pleased I managed to get hold of one and at such a reasonable price. I use these during the hotter months for my Syrian Hamster, but have used in the past for my Chinchilla. Very well made and good quality.

Great product
Very pleased with this cool mat. Excellent value for money and the Chinchilla loves it. He lies on it when it's hot and when he's been running around, to cool down.

Chinchilla cooling mat
Great cooling mat for my chinchilla's bought 2 so can keep one in fridge and other in cage and then swap them over. Great value for money. Chinchilla's also love them and it keeps them cool.

Nice item, but not used by chinchillas.
The cooling tile itself is good quality, and would be big enough for both of my chinchillas, if they wanted to use it. Although the tile has not been used by our chinchillas yet, it is a necessary item for the cage to prevent overheating so i'd definitely still recommend having one.
