--Ann Bieri

I agree with Imaginary Friend!
I concur; best paper towel holder I have ever had. Replaced three different paper towel holders with this model I like it so much. However, it is not very durable. I guess for the price it is durable enough, though, because one of mine that is 2-/12 years old just fell apart, and here I am willingly buying a replacement of the same unit.

Pretty good..
I had to bend the little metal arms a bit to actually fit the paper towel cardboard snuggly. Other than that it's a solid item and works as described.

Great for RV kitchen and/or bathroom
Simple, elegant style, keeps paper towels handy and secure from unrolling when traveling. Also easy to tear off just what you need. We have one mounted under the kitchen counter, and another mounted vertically by the bathroom door.

Would recommend
Have had for about 3 weeks. Seems sturdy so far. We installed it under our cabinet. The only drawback is that it appears lean and not straight. Tearing off the paper towel was easy.

Such a Great Idea it's Worth Fixing if it Breaks
Kamenstein Perfect Tear Wall Mount Paper Towel Holder, Black Let’s start by saying that this is by far the best paper towel holder I have ever used. This may seem on the surface to be of minimal importance but to anyone who has needed a paper towel for something, fast and one handed, then you know how most holders out there can fail you. Freestanding countertop ones just topple over or worse, fly away sending a paper towel streamer across the room. Any of the mounted “Bathroom TP Style” ones don’t hold the roll stable and once free spinning a nice mountain of paper towels can pile onto the counter. Then there are the friction ones out there. Most have such a death grip on the roll that you are lucky to get more than a corner of a sheet ripped off. Often all you come back with is a thumb sized shred. All in all a plethora of badly designed holders are out there and some really ugly ones too. Now to this fantastic holder with the ratchet design. Mounting was easy as one would expect. The cheap plastic screw anchors that came with it are useless. If you can’t, conveniently, screw it into a stud or other wood frame then get some much better drywall anchors. Personally I think an array of inexpensive wall anchors are a must have in the home for just this reason. When positioning it make sure you will have enough clearance for the largest rolls of paper towels you generally use. I like the Bounty Select a Size Huge Rolls and huge they are. You can see in my pictures the difference between the huge rolls and a regular roll. You can also see I gave the huge rolls just enough clearance and no more. I want this as out of the way and invisible as possible. Sturdy Chrome Spring Wires. Once mounted the roll itself is securely held in place by the spring wires. Getting the roll on and off takes some force. Not enough to bend or crush but you do have to give it a bit of effort. If you use some fancy brand with a smaller or larger center diameter this will not likely work for you. Those spring bars are rather stout and would likely rip through a smaller than standard diameter roll. The Ratchet. Really, once again, this is one of those “I wish I thought of it” ideas. It gives just enough resistance that the roll does not start spinning on its own. Not so much that you can’t pull on it and get several sheets out. And then with a final sharp tug the exact amount rips right along the closest to the roll perforation and you have a perfect amount of un-shredded paper towel. That simple. There is a rather satisfying clicking as the roll turns out that I like. Some may find it annoying. Initially the dog did look at it funny but has since decided to ignore it. Quality Control. Here we may have an issue. There are more than a few reviews here that talk about the ratchet mechanism failing. Compounding this is the possibility of slightly different ratchet designs between the different finishes. This is not speaking well for the engineers at Kamenstein if all is true. It may also be that what some have seen is old (failing) models mixed with new (improved) models. Hard to say without a representative from Kamenstein chiming in. That said this holder is worth the effort to repair if needed and a few reviewers have given some hints and photos to help those inclined to try. Even if I wouldn’t go to that effort (which I will if needed) at $10 to $15 if I can get a year or two out of it I will be satisfied. One last thing. I don’t want to get on a soapbox but what’s wrong with fixing things when they break? We used to do it all the time but recently we have developed a mentality that everything should either last forever or be thrown out when it breaks. I actually kinda like fixing things and often can improve on them as I do. I promise that if mine fails I will make and post a video on how to fix it. I think this is just that good of an idea that it deserves the effort.

Works great, even with larger paper towel rolls
I mounted this using the included screws underneath the wooden desk in my den and it works great. The ratchet makes a soft clicking noise when you turn it. There's enough resistance that I can tear off a paper towel without having to hold the roll with my other hand. My paper towels are the Kirkland brand which are larger (thicker) than typical paper towel rolls but this is large enough to accommodate those rolls, that hasn't been the case with other paper towel holders I've purchased. Highly recommend this item.

Works ok... for a while...
The thing works great, no issues... Until the thread on the bracket connecting the actual rotating holder wears out. This causes the device to droop, and eventually fall apart completely over time. Perhaps using a better material for the threaded parts could be a solution?

Works exactly the way it says it does!
I was skeptical but went ahead and took a leap of faith to purchase not 1 but 2, I’m glad to say it paid off. They work perfectly. Exactly the way they said it would. Tears per single sheet and doesn’t run, one handedly.

Perfect for small spaces!
I bought this for the boat due to storage issues. Searched and researched many on the New Zealand market but nothing compared to this in quality or price. The cheapest of good quality I could find was over $NZD100 and even though it was good this was even better. Love that fact it doesn't free roll and now my paper towels don't hog valuable kitchen space!
