Great Bitless- but has flaws
First I want to say to everyone: Please go watch the Justin Dunn Bitless Bridle video for proper fitting. A proper fit will ensure the buckles don’t slide towards your horse’s eyes. ???? First, after I took the tags off, I tried the bridle under saddle with my horse- she responded very well! This is a horse with a traumatic past (being “broke” to ride at age 2 in a very rough way, she bucked the rider off and he broke his shoulder). I have had her for three years now. She is now 5 and with positive reinforcement she has come along way! I definitely loved how she rode in it- and she is just now being saddled to ride! Her ground manners are great- but she is VERY GREEN under saddle! Her back up was very light with this bridle! I definitely recommend this bitless bridle over other bitless rope halters made for riding because those tend to slide! When properly fitted, this Justin Dunn Bitless Bridle SHOULD NOT slide towards her eyes! ???? I did test this out- and did not have it slide around! Next, given the price of this bitless, I was kind of shocked at some flaws. The person who put this together in the shop might have been new in their training OR was simply being careless. All of the leather strings were tied on incorrectly- which is dangerous. Each string needed to be looped through one more time- and then tightened. I have attached photos to detail this. ***PLEASE*** check you bridle out and make sure to make the needed correction for your safety! Another issue is that whoever put the bridle together put the throat latch on upside down- which means the loose leather just hangs. So I have to take it off and add it back on in the right direction so the left over leather points down and not up! Next, this horse size bridle is made to fit a wide range of horse heads- which I LOVE! I do recommend this bitless bridle, especially for those transitioning from a rope halter to a side pull. That stated, we have only rode in it once. I will come back to update this post over time! I hope this helps!

Beautiful craftsmanship but ill fitting
Very nice leather, a beautiful bridle in general. The issue though is fit, the brow band was huge on my 17HH Friesian and the metal buckle lands right below the eye, it would be dangerous to lunge in for that reason (and I was hoping to use the bridle for a little warm up groundwork and then just hop on).

Best bitless bridle
Got horse size. Fits perfectly on my aqha - he has a pretty big head. Buckle doesn't get in his eye like other reviews had mentioned, and I tightened it up a few holes. Would highly recommend!!

Design flaw
I loved this bridle and it worked very well with my horse. However, as others have complained, the cheek straps tend to come too close to the eye area, especially when the reins are pulled back. It could easily be fixed. If the designer would add what is called a hack strap or jaw strap to keep this from happening. I feel like it cost too much money to be trying to rig up a solution myself. It’s going back.

Perfect headstall to start a young horse in!
I saw this being used by Justin Dunn at the 2016 Rocky Mountain Horse Expo in Denver, and thought I should get one for my horses. The other sidepulls that I've tried in the past have a really rigid, stiff rawhide nosepiece, which can rub some noses a bit raw. I liked that this headstall has the ability to change out the softer rope nosepieces (but at $20 per nose rope, I don't think I'll be looking to do that anytime soon!). I've been using this headstall as a step up from using a rope halter, in the process of starting some of my young, Rocky Mountain horses under saddle. This headstall fits nicely, and has enough leather to allow for a good range in head sizes. I really like the leather attachments from the cheek pieces to the area that holds the rope noseband in place. I haven't had any issues with the cheek pieces moving into the eye area, which can be a problem in some headstalls. Overall, this was a splurge for me, at over $100 for just the headstall (with leather curb strap and rope nosepiece included). Thank goodness I have lots of reins at home! I think this would be a great headstall to use for the NATRC and endurance rides, as it would allow the horse to graze and water without a bit in their mouth, although your horse needs to really be taught to be light off the pressure of the headstall--a really flightly horse might not be able to be stopped in a headstall like this in a panic situation. Again, nice construction, but a bit pricey.

Best bridle out there!!
I can't recommend this bridle enough. I switched to bitless riding because I care about my horse, and personally I would not like to have a metal bar in my mouth for hours on end, so why would my horse?! So when I first went bitless I bought a used side pull bridle on Craigslist to try it out first, before investing in one. After trying it out my horse was just as responsive as using a snaffle, and she got VERY soft.(FYI - Do not get the bitless bridles that crisscross and squeeze, or tighten, around the horses nose!) My only issue with the Craigslist bridle was that it had a stiff "rope" nose band that never seemed to fit well. It stuck out on the sides and it was so rough on her nose that I had to wrap fabric around it to protect her nose. I did a lot of research when I decided to buy a new, good one, and this Justin Dunn side pull was what I decided upon after much research. Not only does it have the spread out leather straps which keep it from spinning around my horse's face, and gives gentle contact, but it also has a nice soft rope nose band. It's perfect!! It's soft, doesn't rub her nose, doesn't slip around, it's large and very adjustable, and she is responsive like she's never been before. My horse has some draft in her and her head it big, and this bridle fits great. After using it regularly I can laterally flex her with just a slight movement with my fingertips. She loves this bridle, as do I, and I can't recommend it enough. Also, the silver pieces are beautiful, and although they are not sterling, they look just like sterling silver pieces. Solid and beautiful, not plated junk. Very well made with high quality materials, not cheap at all. Well worth every penny, and personally I would spend a lot more on it. I LOVE IT!!!

Fits my saddlebred/QH perfectly.
Nice, thick leather, but soft enough to be comfortable for my mare. Well-sewn, and sits away from the eye.

The buckles are way too big by the horses eyes
I had too take to a saddle maker here to remove the large buckles a have smaller one put on now it fits an not bothering my horses eyes. And looks much better.
