Set-up details not found in the pamphlet
It's April here in the Calif mountains of Big Bear Lake. I'ts still very cold. I'm way behind starting my tomato plants. Until today! Easy set up, once you see the videos at the bottom of the product page. Not all "details" are included in the pamphlet. This model is an upgrade from the one I had years ago. The cord lock only works when it's touching the top of the frame. The clips that "snap" on to the top of the light frame are very hard to snap on. The little "green plastic things" in the bulb sockets are not to be taken out. (One of mine was broken and part of it fell out, but the bulb still works). Put the bulb in and gently rotate it toward you to snap/set in place. Rotate away from you to remove. I haven't tried the timer yet, but I really don't need it. I'll turn it on when I get up and off at night. Enough said, this is great for starting vegetable seeds.

Perfect for germinating, lightweight and easy for an older person like me
I'm a 66yo woman. I had created a few contraptions trying to hang lights to germinate seeds but everything was a mess. I kept looking for a simpler solution, and this is it! It's easy to set up and move around. The light came on right away. I just put some jalapeno seeds in jiffy peat pots and I'm looking forward to putting them under this light soon.

Great grow lamp
Unit was easy to put together. Like how you can raise or lower light as needed

It’s okay
For the price I feel like it’s a little flimsy. Also the light really isn’t bright enough for seedlings. My seedlings are still stretching for more light. I’m trying to make it work but I’m disappointed.

Fits the bill if you want an early start on a small garden; timer ROCKS!
Fits the bill if you want an early start on a small garden or some flowers for a bed or, like me, a bit of both. The light is warm enough, and casts strongly over a solid six-inch width. I'm using small starter pots (mostly 1-1/2 inch square; some were 2-1/2 inch) seated in a 8 1/2" flat so I can water from the bottom. Works well, but I do move the flat a bit once or twice a day to get ample time for all seeds/seedlings under the strongest light as the single bulb will not sufficiently cover the whole 8 1/2" area I'm using. It is close though; getting good germination, etc., so the light is strong enough, and even if you're not picky like me and don't move it, you should get good results. Also, the built-in timer function is just a fantastic bonus for the price. I've looked at large, far more expensive systems, but due to money, space, and knowing my penchant for overdoing stuff (and getting too busy to properly care for my too-large-garden!), this light really fits the bill. Keeps me small as I can only run so many starters at one time (48). As well, while the stand itself and the light adjusting system (a cord and stop) is basic and would not put up with much abuse (e.g., a crazy cat/dog, small children), it all is sturdy enough, very simple to operate (and put together), and honestly, is just a very good deal. I might buy another, depending on how well I maintain my garden this year.

I COULD PUT IT TOGETHER!
My first purchase of a real grow light. I am 77years old, not so nimble anymore, I was surprised at how easy - in plain words with pictures - that i understood the instructions. It fits on my kitchen counter perfectly. My 3 cats know they're not aloud on the counters, so no problems with that. I didn't buy it soon enough to start seeds, but my plants needed more light. I don't have big windows and my hanging plants have that area used up. I have many plants, for my health, with the cleaner air. This past year, I've been trying my luck with succulents - I get so much joy seeing the little starts pop up. Buying the grow light was for them. PERFECT!

Convenient Plant Stand to Hold Grow Lamp
This was the perfect plant stand for me, but it could use some improvements. — STAND — The stand measures 24" H x 18" W x 26" L. All dimensions are fixed. This size is ideal for lighting smaller plants, propagating cuttings, or house plants. I use mine to grow all sorts of carnivorous plants. — ADDING A LAMP — There are two ropes on the ends to hook onto the top of a lamp, and a middle adjustable rope to adjust the height as your plants grow. I have a lamp that needed to be at the very top, so I kind of just wrapped my lamp hanging cords around the top bar (gotta improvise!). Obviously, make sure whatever lamp you plan on adding has spots for hooks at the top. — FUTURE IMPROVEMENTS — I would pay money to have a stand that has adjustable legs. You could have many models of varying widths, but if they had one with heights adjustable from two to three feet, that would be amazing. Sure, you can adjust the height of the light, but what happens when you get to the top? That's it. That's the tallest. A sturdier model with improved adjustable legs is a winner in my book. — SUMMARY — At the moment, My plants aren't tall plants so I don't have to worry about the height of the stand. This is a compact plant stand and it's done a great job at helping with the growth of my plants. Recommended.

Love it, old description on item though.
The light itself is amazing, and my plants just took off. I have the previous version of this grow light, bought from the same posting on Amazon, as well, and I like the new one much, much better. It's a full LED tube NOT a bunch of individual LEDs of different colors. I have both lights set up over my table, and their stands had no problems sliding close to each other. It's easy to assemble (follow the instructions!), and it's only moderately warm to the touch, so my plants brushing it have been unharmed. That said... this does NOT have a timer and the switch is a bit flimsy. I suspect the description text on Amazon hasn't been updated. Those are my only complaints though - I love this light!!! When it shipped, it came in a very long box, but it was carefully packed and there was NO damage to the light or frame even though the package came pretty battered.

Light strip suddenly quit working
Frustrated with Amazon right now. The Jump Start Hydrofarm light comes with a one year warranty that it will be free of defects and that the product will be repaired or replaced but must be first returned to the original place of purchase. I can’t seem to do that. I don’t want a straight refund, Amazon, I want a replacement, ie. Could you come pick this defective one up and exchange it for a new one that (hopefully) works? I have baby plants that need a grow light asap! This was a fairly decent light (I did choose to use my own timer with it as the 12 and 18 hr built-in timer options didn’t work for me). I like the design and size, but the bulb seems to have burned out and I’ve only used it about a 1/2 day shy of a week, following the directions as stated in the packaging. I even removed, cleaned and reinserted the bulb, tried a different wall outlet, etc. I have another JumpStart light from Hydrofarm, I’ve used it for many years without any issues. Amazon, you only give me the option to “replace” with another item of “my choice” yet the choices the page gives me are not my choice…arg…I can’t even phone or have a proper chat with your customer service about this, the algorithm keeps redirecting me to the same useless options that aren’t helping me resolve my issue. Seems like communicating through a bad review is my best option to be heard here.

Does job but too light weighted
Its extremely light weighted. Joints are hard plastic and parts are hard to put together. I actually had to get a hammer to get joints in. The cord seems weak to me. I added a extra part to make sure the light fixture doesnt fall. On and all, I guess it does the job. I have 4 2f tubes and it goes well. I just wish that structure was heavier. And with a better clamp on the lace. To me its not worth $53

Shorter than expected and light weight
Easy to assemble but I needed a mallet to bang the connectors into the frame. Its stable and holds my 4 ft LED light well and the draw string makes it easy to lower or raise up the light. But it's only about 3ft from the ground so not much to raise up

A solid stand.
Though a good 4 foot wide stand, I would like to have had the 2 foot height extensions included with the stand; to make it a 4X4. I tried to obtain the extensions from a number of sources, with no success. Disappointing!

Just not keen on the rope clip
Liked value for $s. Dislike knotted rope hanger (too short). A longer rope would only add pennies to cost).
